  1. Girls will finalized after this weekend. Looking to get them out by Monday as well (Tuesday at the latest). I will be working with Hamm this year with the pin-tn rankings for the girls division.
  2. Siegel High School will be hosting 3 different dates for tournaments this season. Dates include: Friday December 10 - Girls Dual (limiting to 12 teams) Saturday December 11 - Girls and JV Boys individual tournament Saturday January 29th - JV STATE tournament If you are interested in participating, please click on the link below to fill out the interest form. The only tournament as of now that we have to limit is the Girls Dual (due to space and time for teams). The others may be limited due to any policies our county / TSSAA may put on us between now and then. I will get in touch with those that respond and keep you in the loop as these tournaments approach if anything changes. 3. I think the realignment really benefits the teams in Region 2 and 3 that are coming from the old West Region the most. This is going to allow them to send more athletes to state as the region isn't going to be so crowded. This will only help those teams grow as well. I can speak from experience that this can be used as a recruiting tool when walking up and down the halls of our schools. Kids want to join successful programs. Here at Siegel, we went from having 2 seniors returning to now having 16-20 girls on the team. The girls at our school have heard us constantly promote our State Medalist on the announcements and all over our social media and they've been showing up wanting to join. I do believe that Region 4 will still be the toughest top to bottom this season. However I do think the realignment allowing for teams to get out from under the shadow of these historical "giants" of girls wrestling and the growth of the sport will eventually help start to even out. May take a few years, but girls wrestling is growing and the competitiveness of these up and coming teams is going to continue to show the more we grow the sport. I know for a fact that Blackman, Oakland, Riverdale, and Siegel should all have mostly full teams in Region 3 along with Independence who typically has decent numbers. Then there is Cleveland, who is the top dog in boys wrestling, and I have no doubt that Coach Bosken will have his girls ready to compete in Region 2. Anyone who knows girls wrestling knows Piper Fowler. She is an extremely tough young wrestlers. Cleveland will definitely put a good group of girls together alongside her. Tullahoma (another former West Region Team) will be in Region 2 as well. There's another great group of girls led by a great coach, Jenna Morris, and should return to the fighting form they were a few years ago. I am just really excited to see how this all plays out. We can predict all day, but at then end of it all it comes down to what these young ladies do on the mat. I have no doubt that the coaches will do their best to prepare their teams for when that time comes. Get out your popcorn. It's going to be a good year!
  4. I've laid out the numbers of returning medalists by new region. Obviously this upcoming year will be very interesting to watch with the new weight classes, the realignment into 4 regions, and the growth of girls wrestling across the state. There are new programs popping up all over the state and programs that have grown from just a handful of girls to full teams. There will be a lot of shake up at the region level, but until this season happens and the dust settles, I believe we still have to give the nod to Region 4 (previously part of the West Region) for the job they do and the success they have had. It will be interesting to watch it all unfold this season. As the newly elected Women's Director of TNUSA, I am thrilled that girls wrestling has grown so much lately and I hope it continues to grow and get more competitive across the state; not just competitive in pocket areas like it has been in the past. 5. Coaches, My name is Donovan Freeman. I am the head Coach at Siegel High, Director of the Stars Wrestling Club, and newly appointed TNUSA Women's Director. I wanted to send out a survey to gauge interest and participation with the women's side of TNUSA wrestling. If you have female wrestlers, please take a few moments to fill out the survey. This will help me to make decisions about practices, events, coaching staff, etc. I am very excited to step up and do my part in developing young athletes to succeed in our sport. If you have any questions, comments, concerns, or ideas feel free to contact me. 8. Siegel will be hosting this event again this upcoming season. Hopefully we can go back to a full tournament and not having to limit anybody. It should be 1/29. If anything changes, I will let you know.
  9. Good morning, Siegel has changed the Ramsey Rumble from a girls/jv individual to a Team Dual tournament this year (with all the restrictions etc). We currently have 4 teams (Siegel, Stewarts Creek, Stone Memorial, and Montgomery Central). We are looking for at least 2 more teams. Please email freemand@rcschools.net if interested. I will accept the first two interested. If we can get a 4th mat, we may add a total of 4 more (8 total)
  10. Good morning, Unfortunately due to different guidelines and restrictions that have been put into place this year, we are going to have to cancel the Ramsey Rumble on Saturday Jan 16th. With limits on participants, spectators, etc we just feel like it will not be as beneficial for everyone that has been involved in the past. We will look to resume as normal next year, but only time will tell. We are looking to still have that date this year, but looking to do more of a dual format with a few teams and still try to get some jv and girls matches. I will let you all know more when that decision is made. Thank you for your patience and best of luck this season. Stay Safe. -Coach Freeman: Siegel High
  11. Thank you to all who responded. I believe I have filled up all the dates. Best of luck to all this season.
  12. I'm sure most of us are experiencing similar situations, but I am looking to fill some dates. We've lost a few match opportunities due to school closing, quarantining, etc. I would prefer these be home dates as I have already lost one of my two I had scheduled, but at this point, I just want to get the kids on the mat. Dates I'm wanting to fill: Thursday Jan 7 Thursday Jan 14 Thursday Jan 21 Thank you and best of luck to all of you this season. Stay safe!
  13. Any idea when they will do any realigning of the regions / districts? I'm sure these new classifications will shake up some of the regions.
  14. Good afternoon Coaches, Siegel High will be hosting the Girls West Regionals this upcoming season. To stick with tradition and the amazing job Coach Peck has done with it at Nolensville the last few years, we will also be hosting the JV State that is typically held at Nolensville alongside the Girls Regionals. I believe according to the NFHS Schedule, Girls West Regionals will be Friday January 29 and Saturday January 30. We are going to look at all options, but plan to keep it as similar to this past season as possible as we felt it ran extremely well, but we are always open to suggestions. We will send out more specific information closer to the beginning of the season. If you have questions, comments, or suggestions please feel free to contact me via email freemand@rcschools.net . Thank you and hope everyone is staying safe.
  15. Thank you to all who have registered their wrestlers in our tournament. Unfortunately, we have had to close registration as our numbers significantly surpassing our expections. We still want everyone to be able to get mat time as this is a JV and Girls, and in order to prevent us from being there all night we have had to cap the amount of wrestlers. We will make sure we adjust to the increase in participation for next year. We plan to add a few more mats in our auxiliary gym next year. We also will be looking at changing the format of the tournament. Please keep us in mind when you are planning your schedules for next season. Thank you for your understanding. Best of luck this season.
  16. Just wanted to let everyone know there are still openings for this tournament. We are accepting multiple wrestlers per weight class. This tournament is about getting mat time for our JV and Girl wrestlers. Last year almost all wrestlers got 4-5 matches due to us pooling wrestlers by actual weight. All wrestlers will get an additional pound on Saturday (+3 from scratch. ex - 126 would be 129) If you want to participate, please email (freemand@rcschools.net) or text me (615-598-8419) and I'll be glad to add you to the tournament and send you the link to register. The deadline to register is 10:00 pm CST on Friday January 17th. Thank you all and best of luck this season. Donovan Freeman Head Coach - Siegel High
  17. We are allowing for more than one wrestler to participate in each weight division. Also there will be an additional pound allowance due to some wrestling Friday. However we will be pooling wrestlers by actual weight.

  20. The way I read it, they are just taking stalling out of the technical violation progression (could be a locking hands, stalling, grabbing head gear, etc) that would lead to a disqualification and they are creating a separate progression specifically for stalling. Said progression would be: 1st - Warning 2nd - 1 pt 3rd - 1 pt 4th - 2pts 5th - DQ Again this is just my interpretation from just briefly reading it. It would allow referees to actually call stalling and it not DQ an athlete as quickly as it may have in the past due to it originally being on the same progression as locking hands and other technical violations.
  21. Bump Spread the word. Thursday night is Fight Night! Come on out!
  22. January 18th is the Girl's Regional Duals which only a limited number of teams will even qualify for due to the lack of full size teams right now (Hopefully there will be more as the sport grows). The Individual region tournament happens on Jan 31 - Feb 1 (it is two days this season). The tournament on the 25th is MTWOA which always takes place before the girls individual region tournament. They have just added the duals this season. I hope this adds clarification to your question. On a side note, any girls team who does not qualify for the girls duals on January 18th (due to not having the required amount of wrestlers) is more than welcome to come to Siegel's girls tournament the same day.
  23. Siegel High School will host fight nights on Thursdays from 6 to about 7:15 pm starting this week. Address is 3300 Siegel Rd, Murfreesboro, TN 37129
