  1. Cool! I don't know the Frye kid but sounds like this might be a situation like Bradley had four years ago when TJ Hicks was stuck behind Navarro his freshman season. Great to hear, he will be fun to watch this season. On the other hand, I watched Mann last year on the AAU circuit. He will have better opportunity at 108, but still, I don't envision him on the medal stand. KingGreen, I'm not sure what it says about Seeley that Mann is already "getting the best of" him. Do you think Seeley can repeat on the medal stand up a weight?
  2. Hahahha!!! Durdon, please send us some of what youre smoking. Rarely does AAU MS state champ equate to immediate high school favorite. He wrestled 110 in middle school, has he grown at all? Can he even get to 106?
  3. I had them in my top 10. I think they are close but with a key loss in their lower weights that I just heard was now wrestling at Cleveland, I think they are a few points shy.
  4. It will be hard to place top 10 with two place winners. Heritage will be solid, but I don't see them making it. Bradley will make it interesting, not sure Devaney is a placer if hes above 113 though.
  5. Bradley graduated 7 - they return 3 placers -- I could see them back in the top 10 but I'm going to go out on a limb and be the voice of minority. I think a rebuilding year. TN High graduated 6 - they return 1 placer. Looks like a rebuilding year here also. Heritage still has work to do to prove they are a top 10 team. They return 2 placers but no one else I see to speak of.
  6. Just for fun lets talk about top 10 teams. (in no particular order): Christian Bros Baylor McCallie Beech Cleveland Arlington Wilson Central Science Hill Father Ryan Knoxville Halls
  7. I'll throw my hat in the ring here. In no particular order. Alex Whitworth - McCallie Brayden Palmer - Beech Noah Horst - Beech River Henry - McCallie Trent Knight - Greeneville Mason Reiniche - Baylor Michael Kramer - Wilson
  8. Don't get me wrong, this is a great event and kudos to those putting it on, but there's a bit of hyperbole here. Maybe the premier USA Wrestling FS/GR dual in the state, but there are definitely other bigger, more stringent tournaments overall. But I appreciate your enthusiasm. Number 1 & 2 coaches in the state?? Hahaha. No disrespect to Bosken but he's still wet behind the ears. Smith is building a legacy but I think it's still too early to saddle him with this title. I agree with the others, we need to see results! If you can't post tournament results you're going to have a hard time claiming you held a premier event. Surely someone kept a scorebook that can be shared. And before you pile on me, yes I attended and paid my admission, but I only followed my Region. I would like to see individual results for the others.
  9. Let's see that stud filled lineup Harrison.
  10. Follow suit of the West and put your lineup out!
  11. HAHAHA Charles, but remember, he has more wrestling knowledge in his pinky finger than most of us in our whole bodies, except, you know, when he doesn't. Apparently the Cleveland Duals are the end all be all, if your team doesn't come there then they cannon be in the conversation. Cobra just a suggestion, and this won't even cost you an admission fee, open up Track and take a look sometimes, believe it or not there are teams with good wrestlers outside your area.
  12. Very good post Cobra, and ur point about individual state not really determining who is the best team is solidified by other things on the wrestling scene. For example, the highly successful and touted NCAA National Duals. Absolutely without a doubt the best way to determine the best NCAA team. The USA National Duals in Fargo every season that determines the best freestyle dual team in the nation. The Olympics Duals, as we all know, have been a highly successful and historical measuring stick of the best wrestling countries in the world. Unfortunately some state associations haven't even caught on yet and don't host state duals so they can never determine the best teams in their states. Some might surmise those at the top of individual tournaments are good, but as Corbra has so eloquently stated here, that is simply not the case because of seeding, injuries, "bad draws," unfortunate circumstances, and probably even some wardrobe malfunctions. Whatever the case many states are left in limbo and never really able to determine their states true best teams. I would also definitely disregard the correlations among all states where the top 4 in state duals are also usually pretty close to the top in individual state. Most likely only a wild coincidence. Thanks Corbra and Mrfixalot for displaying your infinite wisdom for all to see.
  13. Thank you! Finally, someone with a unbiased, factual, rational thought.
  14. Please tell me we don't have to listen to the Soddy song for another year. They return ONE state placer. No way they can be in the top 5 conversation. Also, no way Bradley falls out fo the Top 10. Beech will be a contender. Independence has shown they know how to get kids on the podium and compete. Science Hill, Tennessee, Wilson, Blackman, Halls. All these teams are legtimate top 10 teams next season, Soddy must rebuild to get back in the conversation, please just stop with the madness and legacy votes.
  15. Ah my legacy lives!! I'm out of sight but never out of mind. A shout out to all my brothers in arms. I saw a shirt today, it said "If you ain't from Soddy, then you might be 3rd..."
  16. Haha, ignore him, he is hurting our feelings because he speaks truth! What's comical is your alls refusal to admit when you are wrong. You have beat the Soddy drum all year long and now your centention is that individual state does not correlate to the duals, seeding, draws, blah, blah. So if there is no correlation, is it a very big coincidence that Bradley was 1st in duals, they're leading. Cleveland was 2nd in duals, they're 2nd. Science Hill was 3rd in duals, they're 8th and are well within striking distance of top 4, Tennessee was 4th in duals and they're 3rd, Arlington and Halls were 5/6 and they're 5th and 7th. I'll say it again, if there is no correlation then this seasons state tournament has proven statistics and probability to be witchcraft. Soddy currently sits about 30 points out of 3rd in 13th, with only 3 wrestlers remaining. I vaguely recall someone saying their wife had more knowledge about wrestling than me and that I was just biased and didn't know what I was talking about, etc etc. So, when one of you self proclaimed wrestling experts admit that you missed it this year and have been speaking with your heart and not your brain, then I'll be happy to let it go. Don't make me wait until tomorrow when Soddy will have fallen even further and solidify my argument. And I never said I was a coach, so I've got plenty of time to sit here and watch and even a little time for gloating.
  17. Hey Cobra/DaChamps, can you give us an update on where "The 3rd best team in the state" is currently placing in the tournament?
  18. Haha! I picked 5 champs from Region 4. Do I need to send Corbra a Valentine?
  19. Ok, Ok. By popular request, I'll go ahead and put out my list. And I realize it will be highly accurate and TSSAA will be tempted to cancel the tournament and use my results, but just so you all don't get too carried away, I think they will still wrestle it out this weekend. For the record, I'm not against Soddy, you will notice I've picked a few of their wrestlers to take it home and non from Arlington. But we will score lots in the wrestle backs. We're a Saturday morning kind of team this year. 106 Nelson over Horst 113 Hicks over Palmer 120 Martin over Sesnan/Dooley 126 Wheaton over Burns 132 McElhaney over Landers 138 Pendley over Ingram 145 Fuller over Chambers/Wilson 152 Rippy over Matthews 160 Sells over Garrett 170 McMahon over Smith 182 Salter over Fortner 195 Walling over Spangler 220 Demello over Boeck 285 Boykin over Kramer
  20. Someone has been drinking the Tennessee High Kool Aid...lol. You're predicting they place 7?
  21. Whats that old adage about the cream rising to the top? I wouldn't think a few 3/4 places would deter a #3 team from rising up. Just like the Falcons #riseup. If you would have been champ in Region 8 as you say, then you should be able to knock off those #2/#1 region placers in your first couple of rounds. Even if you get a "bad draw" because of the 3/4 place then you should still be able to battle back to 3rd right? I'm not disappointed in "only 10." And I'll take our 10 over the Soddy 10. I'll pick Arlington to be top 5 over SD.
