  1. I expect South Side to win this one by 18+. I do think South Gibson will challenge them again (in either the district or region championship game), but at South Side tonight, I don't think it's close
  2. A - Ramsey (Unaka), Baugus (Wayne Co) Davis from McKenzie would be the obvious third but she really should not win it this year after being injured for so much of the season AA - Harrison (Westview), Beatty (York) Third player could be Haworth (Alcoa) or Hart (Gibson Co) or Newman (Gatlinburg) AAA - Collins (South Side), Powers (White Co), Johnson (Upperman), Bailey (Greeneville), Burgess (Creek Wood) Any combination of those five would be worthy AAAA - Berry (Clarksville), Collier (Bartlett), Treadwell (Bearden) Lot of worthy players in AAAA, but I think these three are hard to argue against
  3. Outside of Huntingdon and South Side, none of the teams in West TN have much post play this season. Greenfield has a solid big but I don't think I would call her a true post player. Gibson Co, Westview, South Gibson, Dresden, South Fulton, Crockett Co all have a shot to make a state tournament but none of them get much production out of their post players. Gibson Co has a freshman with a lot of potential but she has been very up and down in games I've seen this season. I think it has to be a concern, especially for Westview and Gibson Co. Huntingdon could upset either in region semifinal game with their post duo. Also Alcoa and York both have very capable bigs which could present problems for Gibson and Westview at a state tournament. South Gibson's lack of post play makes beating South Side very difficult and could present a problem if they get out of region. Creek Wood does not have much in the post but Central Magnet has a good post player.
  4. South Gibson is good. South Side is great. South Side has better players and should win by 15+. I haven't seen all the West TN teams but of the ones I have seen, I'd rank them 1. South Side 2. Westview 3. Gibson County 4. Huntingdon 5. McKenzie (if healthy) 6. South Gibson It's a shame that Westview, Gibson Co, and Huntingdon can't all make the state tournament. They are all three worthy. Whichever region semifinal game has two of those in it will be a bloodbath. There will be two other West TN teams at the state tournament in AAA - probably Fayette Ware and Crockett County - but I would rank them behind these six. Dyersburg or Dyer Co could make a run, but I think Crockett is the most complete team in that district
  5. Sincere question. How many schools play in the largest classification and sit outside the counties you listed?
  6. That is a great question, and one that doesn’t get asked often enough by fans wanting a coaching change. I think this applies to any sport. Sometimes the answer is yes and you can see an immediate change in program - look at recent changes at Lawrence County and South Gibson. Sometimes a coaching change results in a downgrade (look at Lakeway Christian) or begins a cycle of multiple changes in a short amount of time. That cycle can be really hard on a program. As for McNairy specifically, whether Coach Lott retires or is asked to retire, their admin better have a good plan in place
  7. Only a couple teams in AAA have a shot at South Side. South Gibson is not one of those teams. South Gibson does have a shot to make a substate game and potentially a state tournament just based on region matchups. Looking at previous seasons on CoachT, South Gibson has never done that previously.
  8. I really thought Dyersburg would be better this year. I know they are really young and they will be incredibly talented for the next two years. But I really expected more this season
  9. That group of districts is weak this year. I think Crockett and Fayette Ware are the favorites to get there. Maybe a Memphis team could get Crockett in substate (Melrose?). Crockett has a great record but no good wins and just got drilled by SGC at home. Fayette Ware has some athletes and will get after people on the defensive end. Dyer Co has one loss and literally no good wins. The record is deceiving. They’re not good.
  10. The win tonight means South Side will head to the state tournament with a record of 31-0. There is not a team left on their schedule that will challenge them and they will blow through district/region/substate.
  11. Page is not a threat to win this year. All of those other teams could legitimately win the whole thing
  12. I don’t know Coach Dodgen, but be careful what you wish for. 15-4 this year with losses to Cookeville, York, and a good Alabama team. According to the CoachT, 113-43 in the previous five years. From an outside viewpoint, he appears to put a very competitive team on the floor every year in what is probably the toughest district in the state in any classification. Sometimes breaking a press is a personnel problem rather than a coaching problem. No guarantee that a coaching change results in an upgrade. Good coaches are not easy to find
  13. I don’t know what to think about Huntingdon. I have seen them online. They pass the eye test but their schedule has been really soft. Full strength McKenzie beat them by 20+. Best win is over Dresden, I guess? I know they’ve got Westview and Gibson Co coming up in district, so we’ll know soon enough.
  14. You’re correct. He’s still there, coaching both boys and girls teams. And the guy you responded to is also partially correct
  15. Heard Gleason lost a key player to ACL.
  16. @pioneer42 You watching USJ/Loretto? What’s it looking like?
  17. Agree that USJ is not great, but this ain’t Karly Weathers’ Loretto teams. They are solid but nothing like their last few years. This should be a good game. Ayers may be enough to win it for USJ
  18. South Side White Co Upperman Greeneville Livingston or Elizabethton As far as playing for the championship, who knows. Too far away and the blind draw means best two teams could play in the first round
  19. Chester has the best individual player in that district and they are well coached. They could very well win that district, though I think McNairy has more overall talent. Dyersburg is a year away from being really competitive. Dyer County's schedule is incredibly soft so hard to say about them for sure. I think Crockett wins their district and region and goes to a state tournament. The opposite district in their region is really bad.
  20. Agree that South Side cruises to region title. South Gibson should be there, though they have much less room for error that South Side. Region 5 will likely be Creek Wood and Murfreesboro Central Magnet. Greenbrier could possibly upset one, but it would be surprising. Neither of them will come within 25 of South Side. Either one against South Gibson will be competitive and could go either way.
  21. A team that is going to compete in region shouldn't be losing to Dyersburg and Scotts Hill. I could see how Dyersburg's athletes might cause some problems, but SG beat them by almost 30. I do think that McNairy is the best team in their district but they are going to need a lot of things to go right to get to a region championship.
  22. New TN Report Rankings 1. Blackman 11. MTCS 2. Bradley Central 12. Cookeville 3. Webb 13. Oakland 4. Bartlett 14. McKenzie 5. Coffee Co 15. South Gibson 6. South Side 16. York Institute 7. Cleveland 17. Clarksville 8. Westview 18. Greeneville 9. Upperman 19. Gatlinburg- Pittman 10. Ensworth 20. East Nashville
  23. Got a kid named Joya Crawford, #24 maybe (that might be wrong). I have been corrected since my previous post: she has an offer from Memphis. Not committed but definitely has a D1 offer.
