  2. Kinda hard to say that MC is better than Pickett, Clarkrange, JC, and everyone else considering nobody's played a single game yet. I do expect MC to be very good though, along with several others.
  3. If cheerleading is a sport, then so poker! I'll take poker as a before cheerleading, it's completely worthless!
  4. I think that each fan's expectations are a little different for the program. If a team goes 25-5 every season, but lose in District or Regions some fans will take it as a very successful organization. Others will want to look for a coach that can get the team to the next level....sub-state or Murfreesboro and consider the team stuck in a holding pattern. Just depends on your expectations.
  5. Can some of you McNairy fans fill me in on Coach Lott? Not familiar with this situation. Bobcats83 is intitled to his own opinion. From what I gather he seems to think the coach has had plenty of talent but is basically a good REGULAR SEASON coach who hasn't achieved much post season success with the talent that's come through. On the other hand, it seems that some of you think he's the right man for the job b/c of his longevity at the school and the impressive 800 wins ( and counting ) on his resume. Am I even in the ballpark ?
  6. Butch Jones is a good coach. The problem is that UT is looking for a Elite Coach! In a very good season he'll win 10 games, but most of the time it'll be 8 or 9 victories. Enough to buy him 1 more season. Here's what i don't understand, other than their lone title season the Vols have NEVER BEEN ELITE! Sure, Peyton gave big orange fans lots to cheer about for some years, but before / after him the teams have been good to slightly above average. Tennessee is a first-class institution with a great, crazed & rabid fan base ( one of the best out there ), but the fan's passion has been better than the teams! It's time for UT to spend on a big-time coach. Heck, even Mike Leech has Washington St. relevant again while UT struggles. Come on UT, gotta do better than this. GO VOLS !!!! P.S. - I'm NOT a Vols fan, but I'd still like to see them competitive. I like their fans craziness / loyalty !
  7. This is a solid group of players. I think Tasia is the most talented, with X. Moore not far behind. The 2018s have a bit of everything. Size - DeJa Graves ( Westview ), Savannah Lee ( TCA ), Xandrea Moore ( Milan ) Speed - Tasia Jones ( Westview ), Samariah Thompson ( Dyersburg ) Several teams have good perimeter shooters. Eight weeks to go !
  8. Now, who's the biggest name from West Tn that's still undecided? Congratulations Jamirah and good luck at Memphis !
  9. Jwarren, I agree that Khyla can do a whole lot more than chew gum and walk. I stated above that she was a good player. I simply meant that ANY female player with her size that's well - coordinated will always have the attention of the coaches ( that's true ). I think her ability to handle the ball AND step out to knock down 3s makes her hard to defend. Her size is common to you b/c you see her all the time, but there aren't many teams in West Tn with a player her height. It takes exposure events like the ones in Louisville for people to see lots of tall, talented young ladies in one place. Also, I was letting people know of the local kids listed on the kyprephoops.com website and they must have had a typo b/c it listed Lexi Trice - Selmer McNairy Central, instead of Jackson SS. I don't get on here and disrespect anyone's kid b/c my daughter plays ball too.
  10. On Sept 7, 2017, Rick Bolus/ kyprephoops.com released their preseason list of Tennessee's top 2017-2018 players. Congrats to all the local kids that made the list ! Here are the West Tn kids that made the list - Jamirah Schutes ( Sr. - Haywood ), Deja Graves ( Sr. - Westview ), Ashton Hulme ( Sr. - USJ ), Lexi Trice ( Sr. - McNairy ), Quanardra Miller ( Jr. - Jackson SS ), Tess Darby ( So. - Greenfield ), Chloe Moore ( So. - Greenfield ). Can't wait to see these young ladies perform this season.
  11. As the parent of an athlete, it's always exciting when they get letters. Khyla IS ALLOWED to receive offers, but she can't officially sign with a school until her junior year. The two Greenfield kids received several offers as 14 year-old freshman last season. The PG has multiple D1 offers. McNairy's Wade-Warren is 6'3, 185 lbs, so if she can chew bubble gum and walk at the same time D1 coaches will be interested. I've watched KWW and she's a good player. Bobcat2, I don't think the others meant any disrespect to Khyla, but were just looking for some clarification on if she was receiving actual scholarship offers from all those schools or just letters of interest.
  12. Well TryNotToSuck when it comes to your $.02, buddy you suck !! I simply gave my opinion, so no I'm not wrong. Just say you "disagree", everyone has an opinion and it may not match yours. I would never tell a kid to "go where your heart is and not worry about the money" because someone has to pay for tuition. Maybe the kids heart is at "school A", but mom & dad can't afford it and "school B" is offering a full scholarship. I don't know about your math, but 2+2=4 at "school B" just like it does at "school A" my friend. It would be nice if everyone could attend their dream university but that's not reality. I'm not pressuring anyone to find the cheapest place to go, but at the same time no one wants to be forty-five years old and still paying off that $120,000 student loan !! I'm almost positive some of the athletes at Bethel University had hopes of attending their dream schools, but Bethel gave them the best options so that's where they decided to get an education. "Going where your heart is" isn't always a option.
  13. Here's my list for Region 7 - 1A : Jayden Green (Gleason), Chloe Moore (Greenfield), Tess Darby (Greenfield), Dymond Smith (Union City), Makayla Peterson (Dresden), Jayla Cook (Humboldt), Savannah Lee (TCA) : 2A - Deja Graves (Westview), Tasia Jones (Westview), Kyla Taylor (Lexington), Quanardra Miller (JaxSS), Deadra McElrath (Riverside), Khyla Wade-Warren (McNairy), Raegan Johnson (Westview) : 3A - entire Arlington High team, Cierra Taylor (Dyer Co.), Gabby Crawford (Munford)
  14. Play 4 Fun, i was just teasing bobcatfan300. I think both ladies are very satisfied with their achievements and hardware. This season should be alot of fun because i don't think we have a clear-cut number one team like last year.
  15. Here's a chance for everyone to rep their part of the state. Each region is made two districts so don't be afraid to name more than 3 people, even if they're from a hated rival school or district.
  16. No mystery at all. Most interested schools will probably sit back and take a wait & see approach now b/c of the ACL injury. Tasia actually has a nice jumpshot but most high school guards can't keep her out of the lane so she rarely has to take shots. Just drive and feed the bigs and shooters. A few D1s have still shown interests, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with playing NAIA or D2 ( even D3 ). The goal is a free education. I wish her well and hope she has a big senior season.
  17. OK, so Pickett beat Clarkrange in district AND at regions, but Clarkrange got the last laugh by playing in the championship game! And Pritchett can have district & regions MVP because Meadows beat her when it counted most, MISS BASKETBALL !!
  18. RealisticFan45, let's just agree to disagree on this one......lol. Maybe you haven't noticed but Westview shoots alot of 3s, like Union. She won't set the world on fire as a freshman but she has time to develop. I think it's safe to say that Coach Campbell knows a little more about basketball than you and he thought enough of Deja's game to offer a scholarship.
  19. Jamirah attended the SEMO Elite camp, so there has to be some interest there also.
  20. No-one is saying that the girls don't deserve praise, but let the newspapers write the large articles. Just seems like you got a little excited and went overboard....lol. I'm glad to see that you're a big supporter of the team.
  21. Thanks, glad to see you know basketball ! Union will work on her conditioning and alot of guard oriented teams will struggle against Deja's size & strength on their defensive end of the floor.
  22. I disagree. Graves didn't start playing alot until 6/7 grade and has gotten better each season, making All-State this past year. There's a big upside to Deja with the right coaches pushing her and Coach Campbell recognizes this. Can't teach size, someone 6'3, 235 lbs leaning & pushing on you for 4 quarters tends to wear people down ! A good pick up for Union.
  23. It's quite possible. While losing a player like Meadows is big, it also gives other players the opportunity to step up. You never know, the squad may be more team-oriented without Meadows. I'm sure the coach will make the necessary adjustments. Clarkrange is always strong.
  24. Deja Graves ( Westview |Tn Flight ) verbally committed to Union University. This is another example of why West Tennessee doesn't produce alot of D1 athletes. Deja had D1 opportunities, but chose to play where she was most comfortable. Nice to see that she didn't get caught up in the whole "D1 or bust" mentality. Good move on her part, CONGRATS and GOOD LUCK !!
