Ha, I didn't want to ask ,but wondered if you were making a run to Pal's this evening,how many big Pals would it take to make momma happy .Batman must be pretty hungry as well because I was just watching to see if she was going to save some of that turkey or eat the whole thing .

Last week I gave my answer on which team I thought had the best chance and that meant Elizabethton had to beat Greeneville,but I said Elizabethton. I don't know a lot about the competition in the other brackets,but I know what Elizabethton has and that's why I went with them for my pick instead of what the newspaper guy said.

BVD and I are half brothers by the same dad.BVD had one of the greatest moms in the world ,second only to the one my two youngest boys have,atleast in my opinion. I'm sure a lot of coacht posters feel the same about their mom or wife. Whoever you care about in this life ,you should always hug them and tell them you love them.For the life of me,I can't understand folks that don't love their kids,but I guess it takes all types.

Ha,that reminds me,got to pick up a gallon of Pal's sweet tea after work for dinner tomorrow. Might as well pick up a Big Pal and FF as well for supper tonight.

That's right, we're not guaranteed tomorrow,much less another state championship.When Greeneville got that silver ball . I thought that might be the last chance in my life time but it worked out.I'm thankful for for a lot in my life but have gotten to a different point with sports these days. Back years ago,it would make me so mad to see Tennessee lose a game and nobody wanted to be around me for a while.Now,I'll still pull for my favorite teams but when someone asked what happened,I can say what's on my mind and not think a whole lot afterwards.On top of that,believe me, it's ten thousand times better for Batman "not" having a son playing sports these days. Sounds better

Yep, everyone in NET should respect Elizabethton and I can't imagine many that don't.

I don't read or watch a lot of stuff so I'm guessing there was something I missed for that to happen.I can see the Tennessee Orange or even the special Tennessee Black ,but that will be interesting seeing the Elizabethton Orange and Black on BVD. I don't know what that deal is but a poster from Jeff County bet me a hundred dollars several years ago to be donated to either school and he wouldn't pay up.It was a DB vs JC game,so I wrote that I was considering putting a hundred dollars worth of urinal cakes in the J Fred johnson bathrooms myself so that every time someone " went " it would be directed towards that JC coacht deadbeat that never paid up.

I'll be lazy and not read everything ,so this is from Batman's hip and it's been replaced. Oakland has everything going right now and it will take a great game to stop them . That's why they play the game and no matter what, Maryville will be right here no doubt next year and the next and so on .Best of luck to Maryville and a clean injury free game . Batman just came off of a nightshift,so if I've posted this already,folks who work 12 hour shifts know what it's like and understand.If you don't,just imagine Otis on Andy Griffith.

No doubt if a team beats Alcoa and it does happen ,then they deserve much respect and it would be something for that school to remember going through Alcoa for a championship.My point is to those that feel like it's unfair because Alcoa is so good and a huge mountain to climb.I use to not like Tom Brady but at some point you just have to have respect and except what a team or individual has accomplished.

I can see where you might have thought my previous post might have had references to you but it wasn't.Just a general opinion of how things have changed over the years and how the system as a whole is backwards.

I just read a couple of post and it's the same nearly every year on every Alcoa board. Why can't folks just except the fact about Alcoa.They are good, really good ,year after year.Thats just a fact and I enjoy watching a winner like Alcoa. It's not their place to travel the world looking for teams that can beat them.They play where they are supposed to and it's the same size schools place to be good enough to compete with Alcoa.Hey,if you don't like getting beat by Alcoa,your school should move up or down and avoid them . If you lived on an Island and a Hurricane destroyed it every year,do you blame the weather or just move because you know that big storm is coming every year .Alcoa is the perfect storm and I can appreciate what they have.It's been extremely nice to just have a taste of that kind of success with my Devils and neighbors in Elizabethtown over the last several years and that makes me enjoy a program like Alcoa even more.So Alcoa,bring back another gold to East Tennessee and Batman will send his yearly congratulations !

That would be awesome and make 4A really tough but someone would still be saying Alcoa should be 5A or 6A.

Times are different for sure . We have millions of folks that are able to work and live off of our backs,not uncle Sam's. At the same time, young men come back from war and can't get the help they need from old uncle Sam . One of them ( a Marine Sergeant ) worked on my house last week and said they lost three men on their last deployment but then lost 21 back home because they couldn't get the proper help. Something wrong with this picture.

Look forward to these next couple of games and seeing how everyone matches up from this point.I've said early and often this should be a very competitive final four for whoever comes out of NET this year.Until you line up and play the game it's always hard to really know.Elizabethton is without a doubt one of the best coached teams in our area and the state. Yes I'm pulling for Betsy and have a family connection with my wife to that area in Stoney Creek . So, even though they beat my school, I'll 100% be for Betsy .

Best of luck to Elizabethton going forward.What an accomplishment three straight championships would be. Nothing but respect from the vast majority of everyone not only in North East tennessee but the whole state. Sure your going to get some feedback after every game because nobody likes to lose but your representing everyone in this area and I'll be 100% pulling for you to bring back another gold ball.By the way ,that would also equal the Devils four and that's ok with Batman because you will have earned it.

Yep,it's hard to hold back thoughts right after a loss . I was hoping everything could fall the Devils way and my concerns wouldn't be met with those kinds of results. Still,I can remember a time when this would have been the greatest season in Devil history.I try to stay grounded and not write the stuff I'll really think because at the end of the day,these are still young men and someones son.I'm not perfect and slip sometimes because it does make you mad when the results might have been different for one reason or another.Think goodness our school is having a great run and we can be really mad about a third round loss to the back to back state champs.

Congrats Elizabethton but read this last line above .I knew this would be a tough game and also that the Elizabethton coaches could study film and would be extremely prepared this time around.About all I need to write .Great season Devils and best of luck to those seniors going forward

Same here, I hope it's Greeneville but I'll back the locals every time, unless there is some reason that I don't have with the fine Elizabethton program.

For sure Betsy has a chance.Very few Devil fans were comfortable early in the first game and then when Fulton was coming back 28-12, but it was to little and not enough depth. Elizabethton has the best team the Devils have faced in the playoffs.As all of us know, penalties and turnovers can equal out a game in a hurry.Not that Elizabethton needs them to win.The last couple of years have shown that one or the other may be the favorite but being the favorite is not a guaranteed win. I won't rest easy on this season until the championship game is won and Elizabethton is a huge hurdle in the Devils doing that. Once again,I hope the Devils win but whoever does win is not finished by a long shot this year.

Correct on many points Swipes.I'll take a win no matter how it happens.I personally would like to see the running game do so well that it opens up the passing game second.Old school I guess.

Without reading the article,I would say Elizabethton has the best Chance.Maybe after reading it , I'd change my mind but yes we all know what Betsy has to do in order to accomplish that again.

It doesn't bother me that the Devils don't play Alcoa or even Maryville every year.reason being is that I enjoy both those programs and pull for them every year they go for another championship.Great fan base and I've met the vast majority of their coacht posters over the years and all of them are good guys or gals in the case of one from Maryville.I'd just rather pull for them as against them when they play Greeneville.

Your right,It's hard to beat a good team period.First ,second or third time you play them doesn't matter.Elizabethton is not a good team.I might be wrong on these numbers but I think the worst record they have had in the last 10 years was 8-3.I believe they have won 40 out of the last 41 games played.That's not a good team,that's a great team.
