I see where Bradley beat Knox Catholic today by 33. It looks like they have gotten better all season. What district gets to host if two one seeds meet?
Yes all 5 signed. Meigs has a really good team, but there not very deep, they played pretty much 7 players last year and they graduated two good players, one had a few offers but decided not to play. But they have a couple young players that have finally stepped up and coming in and giving good minutes, but the starting 5 are good players.
I agree 100% last year Meigs had a good chance, and it was a great double OT game. Meigs has almost the same team as last year, they lost 2 good roll players. They start 5 really good seniors, all 5 signed last week to play at the next level. They should have a good chance no matter what team they play. Good luck in tournament play.
Basketball is one of those sports that it’s hard to go undefeated in a regular season, you can be 30 points better than the other team and still get beat on any given night. Just look at Bearden, I think they are probably best team in the state, followed closely by Upperman and Ensworth, but they lost to Alcoa. Is Alcoa better than Bearden no. Is Macon better than Upperman probably not. But that’s why sports are fun, you never know.
Yes Meigs lost two heartbreaking games to Upperman last year. The substate game went double OT. That one was really hard to sallow, because it was my daughter’s senior year. She played for 4 substate games only to lose to South Greene, Upperman twice and Macon. The district would be fun but just a little to far to drive.
I remember in the early 90’s Meigs and South Greene had some good battles, both teams had some really good players. Meigs had 3 D1 players and in a 5 year run, they went 172-6
1991. 31-1
1992. 35-2 runner up. Lost to SG in the champ
1993. 37-1 state champ. beat SG in second round.
1994. 32-2 lost to SG in the second round.
1995. 37-1 state champ.
I think the higher seed gets to host until the Championship game, but if they have the same seed it’s district 5 year to host. That’s the way I understand it.
That was just an early ranking. A lot has changed. Upperman, Meigs, York, Grainger, Northview and Alcoa are the best teams east of Upperman. I’m calling Upperman, Meigs, Grainger and Northview to advance to the hoses this year.
You may be right. The only reason I say Bradley and Cleveland is it looks like Cookeville WC and Stone are really close, and Cookeville is struggling against some average teams that Bradley and average 2A teams are blowing out. Just my opinion.
Lol Fulton is terrible. But I do agree with you that middle TN have it made every year. But there’s really no other way to do it. If they rotate it would be some long drives. Just imagine if they had it in Johnson City next year. How long would that take you? And it takes me 2:45 to get to MTSU
You make no sense at all. If they have it in Cookeville it will take some team from the east around 3+ hours to get there, it’s about the same for teams coming from the west so how is that taking care of teams from the east? East TN teams have to travel just as far or farther than west teams every year.
I think he means Cookeville is pretty much the middle of the state. It would be the same for teams for Memphis as it would be for teams coming from Mountain City area.
One of the Cookeville fans posted. Don’t judge Cookeville based on scores because most times it doesn’t make sense. But if you do, it would suggest that Upperman would blow out Cookeville. Upperman beat Bradley by 18 Bradley beat Knox Catholic by 36, Cookeville beat Catholic two times by 5. Upperman beat Seymour by 30 Seymour beat Sevier County by 20. You said Sevier was a good win for Cookeville. I think it’s safe to say that Upperman is the best team this side of Nashville this year in any class.
I just joking around. I am no Bradley fan but they are still really good and I would say they are still at the top of the region. And teams better watch out for Cleveland.
