4 of the starters are around 5,7 to 5,8 the PG is probably 5,5 but she is really good and fast. That’s why they play up-tempo. They are well coached and get great position and play great help side defense. All 5 starters are seniors and have played together since the 5th grade.
It sounds like the Westview PG is very similar to the Meigs PG. the Meigs PG is not very tall but almost impossible to press because of her ball handling, it’s really good. But they are not very deep and they don’t have a lot of size inside. But they are well coached and all 5 can shoot the three. So that could cause some problems if Westview is in a 2-3 zone and they don’t get out to the shooters.
I would say they will play zone against Meigs, because they are really quick and the PG is really hard to stay in front of and can finish with the best of them. On defense Meigs will press the hole game. They start 5 senior.
She definitely a player. I think she had around 20 last night despite being in foul trouble. All 5 starters have signed to play at the next level. 4 going to TWU and 1 going to Bryan. You don’t see that happen much.
Meigs don’t play great last night but got the win. The officiating was pretty bad both ways. Meigs got in foul trouble and Stone had to leave the game early and she got her 4th in the third quarter, and I thought we might be in trouble, but she stayed in a fouled out with 7 seconds left. It was a game of runs, Meigs took the lead in the first quarter and never let it go, they got up every quarter about 8 and you had the feeling that they were about to run away with it but York would come right back. Meigs could’ve put it away but missed was too many free throws.
It looks like you guys put up a good fight. I would check scores and it looked like it was back and forward. A 3 point loss is tough, but it looks like the top 4 teams in region 1 and 2 are really close with two 3 point games. Good luck to you guys next season.
I missed that one it was the game before that, it was a close one. I know Macon and Upperman have had a good run the last few years, but to say Central’s not used to 8AA level is funny and you know it.
I’m not a Central fan and they probably want win. But to say Johnny isn’t used to 8AA level is a little dumb, when Central has some Gold Balls setting in the trophy case.Central beat Macon a few years ago in the state championship game and the last time they played Macon barely won.
Yes and all three of those teams will probably be in the AAA state tournament. And those games came at the beginning of the season, not saying Meigs would have won but they had almost no practice time. All those girls play Volleyball and they made it to state then COVID hit. Meigs lost playing about 10 more games this year. But I guess that’s happened to a lot of teams.
Yes I did, but what some people don’t understand is that Meigs and Upperman are really close. Both have pretty much the same teams from last year. Meigs lost two good roll players but returned all 5 starters that all have signed to play at the next level. Those girls can play and York might win but I believe they will have to play a really good game to do so.
I almost picked Alcoa again but went with Grainger and Northview better be on there game. South Greene tuck Grainger to the wire. I watched some of the Macon/York game and I think Meigs wins by around 10 or so over York, and Central can win but I think Macon will be to much at home for a young Central team.
