  1. Nobody really cares when it comes to wrestling, or at least I don’t. I think football is where feelings get really hurt. Kids should go where they want. This sport is hard and if they want it then chase it.
  2. I wonder why Colby sat out then? Because he definitely did. Perhaps he didn’t live on campus and that is part of the requirement? Or maybe injury?
  3. I remember when Colby Dalon left Pigeon Forge for Lakeway (the 20-21 season). I thought there was no way he would sit out, but he did. Props to him for taking the hit and following the rules. Personally I think kids should go where they want without penalty when it comes to public to private transfers but I also understand why the rule exists and the sport of wrestling isn't responsible.
  4. Which then leaves McCallie and it is tough for me to believe they don't realize the difficulty they are going to have with Baylor this season unless they to have picked up some transfers, or really impactful freshmen, I'm unaware of.
  5. I didn't realize Paradice and Sturgill had transferred in which is why I threw out the statement as I knew someone would come along and add their knowledge of the situation. Another question, is Ollie Phillips also at Baylor now? How many of the Fargo AAs graduated this past year, any at all?
  6. I'll take: 106: Phillips over Colson 113: Terrell over Jojo Urohchuk. 120: Hilton over anyone and anyone happens to be Ethan Urohchuk. 126: Ellison over Caleb Urohchuk 132: Little over Askew 138: Paradice over Deselle 145: Sturgill over Fowler 152: Norman over Tisdale 170: Stacy over Gibbs 182: Alvarez over Brenot
  7. Yeah I thought OP was referencing the NC qualifier that is occurring this weekend. Almost all of these guys were already qualified and nice to see they are getting mat time. Going to be fun to watch all the TN guys wrestle at Super 32 and IMO it is the hardest folk style tournament in the nation. No age brackets, just weight classes. I've been to two of the last three and it is so darn tough, not to mention that unlike Fargo this is the style that actually matters for collegiate wrestling. Only a very select few will spend any significant time wrestling freestyle during or post-college. A notable name not yet registered but I'm sure he will is Colin Dupill (and his younger brother Carson for that matter) from Greeneville. On another note it really stinks that Hunter Mason is injured in his senior year. I looked for him to do really well had he been able. Others I'd like to see enter: Luke Belcher, Lucas Szymborski, Bentley Ellison, and Cy Fowler. Seems like Baylor and McCallie are way down in terms of talent that is capable of making a dent at an elite event.
  8. Ahhh. Good deal. Looking forward to watching this crew wrestle folk style.
  9. Logan Heckert of Sycamore took first at 170 at the GA super 32 qualifier. Probably won't be in NC unless he wants to wrestle. Cooper Hilton took first at 120 so probably won't in in NC unless he also just wants to wrestle. Caleb Gumlick of Lakeway took fourth at 132. Mason Jakob of DB took first at 113. Spencer Reep of Lakeway took fourth at 126. Congrats to Lakeway for simply taking 12 kids.
  10. Elizabethton submitted the hit to the tssaa. Nothing probably happens but interesting. Wjhl
  11. Will Cody grey shirt or actually commit and sign the LOI for Iowa? Anyone know?
  12. Not surprised. Minnesota always seemed an odd choice for a wrestler of his caliber.
  13. Honest question. Why would a freestyle tournament hold more weight for college than a premier Folkstyle event? I would think the results from Super 32, which gets a ton of press, would be more relevant to college.
  14. Anyone know what school Hendrickson attends? Is he a transfer into TN?
  15. Max takes 7th and Tanner Tran takes 8th in U16 FS. Only two left in Junior FS. Chittum and Hendrickson.
  16. Max Norman wrestling for 7th. Impressive work.
  17. U16 FS current standings: 88 - Jose Cordero: In consolation 94 - Axel Ritchie: In consolation 94 - Tanner Tran: In consolation 100 - William Phillips: 1-2 106 - Chase Creque: 0-2 113 - Cooper Hilton: Quarter Finals 120 - Jarvis Little: In consolation 126 - Casen Roark: In consolation 126 - Jarvis Little: In consolation 138 - Landon Desselle: In consolation 145 - Hunter Sturgill: 3-2 145 - Mikey Posey: 0-2 152 - Maximus Norman: In consolation 152 - Malachi Moore: 1-2 160 - Jacob Barlow: In consolation 182 - Jake Stacey: 2-2 182 - Xavier Viazcan: 1-2
  18. Junior Freestyle, I'll take Dupill at 145 and Chittum at 152. Kodiak is a dark horse at 170. Junior Greco, Chittum U16 Freestyle I'll take Cooper Hilton. 132 has possibilities. Max has been on fire and could get it done at 152.
  19. Max is special and most importantly he really is a good kid. My son, who was a senior and went to a different high school down the road a bit, spent a good portion of last summer/fall wrestling Max at Nahshon's and when I went to one of the club practices I couldn't get over how much he had changed physically. Night and day. I was texting another Dad as I was watching Max go live with my son and I said Max was a dark horse to win whatever weight class he was at. It was that apparent and I had no doubts. I should have said he was the favorite in hindsight, lol. My son had previously warned me that Max was a complete hand full even before his freshman year had started. Max's motor is fantastic (I think it is his best attribute) and he wins a ton of matches by simply outworking his opponent. Max's success isn't a surprise to any of the parents and wrestlers around here, I can assure you of that. Also, don't forget that Max has been at practice for years and years getting beat up by the likes of Hunter Mason and Kodiak Cannedy plus all the DB players from a couple years ago and then throw in his early coach being Joe Kemmerer (the importance of Joe cannot be overstated, outstanding technician and a no non-sense hard ####). Max is equipped to deal with whatever someone brings to the table. Stay humble and hungry Max. Enjoyed watching you wrestle last year.
  20. Going to be battle at 65, if that is where is he staying, with Ulrey doing a pretty darn good job as a freshman.
  21. Congratulations to all those wrestlers, awesome effort. What happened to Cody? I saw on the scores it looked like he FF'd the consolation. Did he get injured in the prior match?
  22. Good opportunity to get a bunch of high quality wrestling matches in. I think last year between the duals and the open tournament we had 14 or 15 matches in two days. I was really surprised by how few TN kids were present at any level considering the location. There wasn't a single dual team from Tennessee in attendance, not even from PF. I encourage everyone to go as Tyrant does a great job of keeping the event moving and starting on time. We did many of their duals last year and I couldn't have been happier with level of competition and speed. https://www.tyrantwrestling.com/smokeshow
  23. Max Norman putting in some work. In the quarters.
  24. I have to admit I wondered if either UTC or App State went after Hunter aggressively. I don't have to wonder anymore. Do you know if they tried for Kodiak? On another note I really enjoyed UTC posting their matches up on youtube. I think Palmer could get AA if stays hungry. While I know the championships didn't go the way he wanted he wrestled fantastic over the course of the year.
