Rough start to the season in the cold weather against some tough competition for McNairy but finished strong yesterday at Gulf Shores in the Gulf Coast Classic II. Played four games yesterday & finished in top four of 25 teams at 3-1. Eliminated by tough Curry High of Jasper, Alabama, 6-4, after earlier clipping a tough Fairhope, Al squad 3-2. Bobcats should be capable of playing with South Gibson when playing at their best. Freshman point guard was all tournament. Sophomore post is getting more minutes. The junior guard has been shooting very well lately. Senior no. 43 was district MVP. Good senior leadership. Those two posters take every opportunity to throw shade at Jerry Lott to no avail as most folks around here appreciate him.

Do have a state championship winning coach as an assistant for the boys team. Keith Greene retired from Corinth couple years ago.

McNairy does not pay coaches of any sport like some other places. Home grown is the best bet. Lott has a granddaughter in eighth grade. Think that he wants to coach her. He is 72 now.

Region 6 winner from among Lexington, Hardin Co., South Gibson, South Side, and McNairy will be a strong team in 3A. McNairy returns almost everyone and adds a talented freshman pitcher to staff.

McNairy might have a chance to compete for that fourth place playoff spot. Will be third season of complete rebuild by young coach. Moved into new football training building. Numbers are rising. Srength training beginng to get results. Will have a good, not great, numbers wise senior class for first time since 2020. Speedy dual threat senior QB is a playmaker and he will have more help.
