  1. Here we go again cutting down Antonio for something he couldn't control. Yes he had only 2 catches for 12 or so yards. BUT.....How many times did they throw to him??????? 2..... ONLY 2. So stop trashing Antonio or his ability when he only has 2 passes thrown his way. As a matter of fact, I believe SP ONLY threw the ball 5 times all night. C.Robinson was 3 of 5 for maybe 35 yards. Two incompletions! and BOTH were dropped should be touchdowns! The Pirates lost at Jasper because they are a "Running Team" and refuse to throw the ball when they have the QB to do so. It almost beat them again this week. And to say that Temple is a "Passing Team"...... They seemed to run fairly well to me, and they correctly chose when to do so and they mixed it up well! I said MIXED it up well. Something SP better learn to do soon if they want to continue winning! JMO Congrats to SP on the subpar win and a big congrats to Temple for a great effort and some very talented athletes. #11,44,12,3,1 Would be great players at any school.
  2. Being wasted meant that he should be gettinng about 25 throws a game instead of 10,12,14. I look at it this way..... SP had 26 carries for 40 yards. What is that a 1.6 avg.? It was evident that SP wasn't going to move the ball on the ground. Half of the 26 rushing attempts should have been passing attempts. Through the air, Jasper didn't slow down #6 or anyone else. that is my opinion. and you know about opinions!!!
  3. First of all, Congratulations to Jasper. You guys played a good game. You ran all over SP up the middle and off tackle. You gutted it out for 4 quarters (for the first time this year) and got a big win. Kinsey was "The Man" tonight for Jasper but the game balls should go to the O-Line and D-Line. They played magnificently. Just guessing...SP had maybe 55-65 yds rushing. I thought that the early unnecessary and flagrant pass interference on #12 was rediculous. The only intention #12 had was to injure #6. Fortunately, that didn't happen. The warriors have a great ground game and were very prepared and well coached tonight. I'm glad to see that they have almost abandoned that spread offense. It didn't work tonight at all and I don't think it will with that QB. He looked Shaky at best when attempting to throw. Good Luck to Jasper for the remainder of the season. Now to the Pirates: You came out dead Had some misfortune early BUT You didn't give up. You played hard most of the game. SP struggled against the run AND the Referees (An obvious goal-line stand negated by a horrible touchdown call made by the UMPIRE. Where were the line judges???? They were right there on the spot and made the correct "NO CALL" until the umpire jumped his little tail over to the side and made a call that obviously was wrong. Not only did he not score, he didn't even make it back to the original line of scrimmage.) and jasper's coach was smart enough to continue running. On that note..... Why was SP constantly running a toss sweep to the SHORT side of the field when Jasper was stopping it almost every time? was this to use the team speed? to the short side of the field????? I think the QB for SP was something like 15 of 19 and 2 of those incompletions were simply dropped. More than one receiver was used tonight and they caught the balls most ot the time. Which team attempted to use the spread???? Sounds to me like the wrong one. BECAUSE....... You have a 6'5" receiver that is being wasted. He should be getting passes thrown his way until teams start to double and triple team him. Then he could be used as a decoy and the throws could go to receivers on the other side. You have a QB who is very mature on the field for a Soph. and is throwing the ball very well. The more we make people use 2 and 3 defenders to guard #6, the more we can run on teams. But Hey....SP is a running team, not a passing team. Yeah right!!! Not any more! Not right now! I will defend SP's coach on the decision to go for the win. Gutsy move!!! I know many good coaches who would done the same thing. The play call.......now that's another story. I mean come on...... Every time #6 lined up on one side then went in motion, the play was a toss sweep to the TB to the side that #6 started on(normally the short side - to use that speed again). and what did we do, we send Robinson in motionn again and then ran what else.... a toss sweep. Althouth it was a great effort by the TB to score....Remember..... we have a young, but good QB and a 6'5" WR who can probably out jump 95% of those trying to cover him. Let's start putting the football in the endzone. who cares if we've always run here. Let's air it out until someone stops it. I haven't seen a team in 7 games now that has even come close to slowing SP's passing offense down. If they decide to double and triple cover #6 we'll throw to #12, #10,#81, and hey what about #2. Everyone knows that he is hurt and isn't able to make the cuts like normal. so why can't he go out for a pass or ten? He is a tremendous athlete. we know he can run and I bet he could catch pretty good also. OK so I am finished complaining. Congratulations to Jasper on a big win! Good Luck to both teams on their remaining games! Can't wait till next year Jasper. You better watch out!
  4. To all those Smithson/Skogen criers......... Could you imagine if C. Robinson got to throw the ball 39 times a game....... With 2/3 of those going to Antonio Robinson????????? Tonights Stats: C. Robinson=passing - 5 for 8 for about 150 - 170 yds, 4TDs,0 Int A. Robinson=receiving - thrown to ONLY 5 Times, 4 catches 135 yards & 4 TDs Only 8 passes thrown.....8 Compared to 38 (Temple's normal attempts) South Pitt could have scored 80 in this one!
  5. How could I see the Murphy Fair info??? Thanks in advance!
  6. Coming from Cookeville, I believe you will circle around the exit and if so you will need to turn left. Go through a red light or two in the town and you will come to another red light just past the McDonald's. You will need to turn right at this light. School is on the right. Only about a 3 or 4 mile drive from Hwy 111. Drive carefully. Good Luck to both teams! Go INJUNS !!!
  7. The difference in Marion County and say....Rutherford County is this: If all 3 schools in Marion Co. combined, there would be a total of around maybe 800 or so students. Just guessing, but i believe that the majority of high schools in Murfreesboro have close to that many students in each class. JMO
  8. Good Game for a half! CB scored first after recovering a fumble on SP's 15 or 20 (7 - 0 CB) SP 's Montrell Mitchell scored on a 40 - 50 yd. run (7 - 7) SP's Robert Robinson scored on about a 35 yd. run (13 - 7 SP) HALF 13 - 7 SOUTH PITT SP's Antonio Robinson 45 yd pass from Cody Robinson (19 - 7 SP) SP's Antonio Robinson 35 yd pass from Cody Robinson (25 - 7 SP) SP's Robert Robinson 55 yd run (31 - 7 SP) SP's Montrell Mitchell 60 yd run (38 - 7 SP) SP's David Jones 40 yd run (45 - 7 SP) FINAL 45 - 7 SOUTH PITT GOOD LUCK TO COPPER BASIN FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE SEASON !!!
  9. My thoughts exactly!!! This is what I have been trying to express to you Warriors! Not being negative...... just truthful and opinionated!
  10. You're probably more familiar with the QB situation, so I'll go with you on this one. And about the coaching...I think that Pruitt will do a great job.....that is if he's allowed to stay long enough. The warrior fans have to start believing in someone soon. They don't want to give any coach the chance to be a good coach. And No! No! No! This is not Ken Colquette nor will it ever be again. Ya'll ran him out of town an he won't be back! So let's start pulling for the team you have and start getting people back into the stands. And get behind the coaches you have and support them in all sports, especially FOOTBALL !!!
  11. REGION 3 1 SOUTH PITTSBURG 2 LOOKOUT VALLEY 3 WHITWELL 4 TEMPLE *
  12. Why does Marion County not consolidate their 3 High Schools an make 1 Great School???? Here are some good reasons to do so!!! #1 RENOVATION -All 3 of the schools (WHS, MCHS, SPHS) are out of date and run down. They need to be replaced in the next 5 years or so. (or need some major updating) I also hear that there is talk of building SP a new gym. Something needs to happen. They shouldn't even be allowed to host a game in that dilapidated cracker box. So why waste the money it would cost for 1 (gym, locker room, field house, coach's office, etc.) combination building??? #2 OPPORTUNITY - Imagine all the opportunities it would open up for not only athletes in this county, but for all students. Our 3 schools struggle to get by on the budget set for each school. Do you honestly want me to believe it is cheaper to run, operate, and maintain 3 schools that are falling apart than it would be to do the same to 1 slightly larger, updated, NEW school. Having a larger school doesn't increase the class size... It will increase the number of classes needed. But, MY MAIN POINT here is having a larger school will allow the county to offer a wider range of subject matter. Believe it or not, some schools allow the student to choose what foreign subject he/she would like to study. Not in Marion County! What about ROTC??? If we had a larger school that could afford a program like ROTC, who knows.....maybe some of the punks and drug dealers of the future will take a different route. Other programs would be available as well: FFA, 4H, and various organizations would prosper. There would be money to fund all these activities. #3 TRADITION - This is the main opposition of choice. "Once a Tiger, Always a Tiger!" "Once a Pirate, ...." Blah Blah Blah I hear this from most people in Marion County. I understand what everyone fears.....Having to get along with someone from another area. I know that all 3 of these schools hate each other with a passion. Speaking with experience... You'll get over it. I taught school at a high school that was combining with 2 others and I then taught at the consolidated school. For a few weeks, there were problems(big ones sometimes). But after the new wore off, it went better than even the faculty thought it would for at least a year or two. There were fights between the different "Colors" who were trying still to prove that their school was better than the other two. But all that stuff died out very quickly. And it will for us too. Take for instance North Jackson High School. I am sure that they had their share of problems during the consolidation period, but look at it now!!! And I know there are those who say " I am a Marion County Warrior.....You'll never hear me root for anyone from South Pittsburg." This will change as the sports teams dominate their opponents. It's too hard to not root for a winning program. Which brings me to....... #4 SPORTS - Could you imagine having a team combined from these three schools. Grundy County, Sequatchie County, Bledsoe County - all these have one combined school and still have trouble with our 3 schools. The combination of student bodies would probably classify the new school as at least AAA if not AAAA. I can think of many coaches who would cringe at the thought of having the Whole Marion County High School on his or her schedule, much less in the same region. Football, Volleyball, Basketball (Boys & Girls), Golf (Boys & Girls), Softball, Baseball - We could excel in all of these sports that we currently participate in. But we would also be able to offer other sports as well - Tennis, Bowling, Cross Country, and Track & Field just to name a few. We would be better and more competitive in all sports, but more importantly.....we could offer more options which would allow more and more students to become involved in athletics. There is my 2 cents........well, my 2 dollars worth. Let me hear your opinions!!!
  13. I admire you. I know it is hard going against your own team. But I'll have to agree with you a little on this one...... Tyner 60 Warriors 12 Coach Pruitt needs to find the right QB to run the spread. This kid doesn't need to be in there simply because who he is. Move him to blocking back or Tight End and put a QB in there who can play and will learn and excel in this type of offense for this year and the next couple of years. The spread is a great offense if you are using the correct players in the correct positions. Kind of like the old "Marion County Warrior" offense...... The Veer Also.... there are 3 very talented RB's at MCHS. The need to be used like workhorses. You don't have to pass every play in the Spread O... Just look at college teams who use it. Also, the Falcons run it too.... and they have a pretty good RB.....DUNN....I think he gets a few carries a game.
  14. Sounds like someone is worried about the PIRATES !! I don't see anyone on here talking about what "THE Marion County High School" NEEDS to do or NEEDS to improve on. Do you know why??? There's not too many people worried about "THE Marion County High School" !!!!! Just to clear my confused mindd.......... How many games has "THE Marion County High School" won so far this year???
  15. Maybe you are confused a tad bit. You see, #5 was not the quarterback on last years team. he only played in 3 games last year. just a coincidence that SP won all 3 of those games. If you listened any to SP's radio guy (dunwoody - I think) at all last year, you would know that #5 only entered in those 3 games. And what is the reference to the QB being a guard??? 5' 10 1/2" - 160 lbs ?????? Guard????? OK...... if you say so!
