  1. I agree, I was just saying that a non certified teacher can not have the title of head coach
  2. just saw where the Thursday Rivalry games are posted. It appears to be the typical lineup for the most part.
  3. They only way that a school would bring a non certified teacher in as "head coach" is to name one of the teachers on staff as head coach in name only and they would have to be at practice and games...etc while the non certified teacher could call all the shots for the football team they could not have the head coach title. I think Pickett County did this a few years back or may still do it.
  4. the lack of loyalty today of kids (and parents I guess) to "their" school amazes me
  5. hope you're right. I live in a triangle between Monterey, Jamestown, and Wartburg. Those are the schools that I usually go watch along with Coalfield and now that they are all in the same region I'm really looking forward to next year.
  6. reading all of those names reminds me of watching the local news give the high school football scores back in the day. Question, I am assuming that South-Young and Doyle became South Doyle, did South-Young get formed from Knox South?
  7. I came on to read about who the Blackmon coach was and somehow ended up in a twilight zone thread
  8. 50% of the kids that play today, wouldn't have made it in the 60's, 70's, or 80's. No water breaks, tackling drills that are forbidden today, and coaches that literally manhandled players. Forget about the endless conditioning sessions that took place. A kid today gets a rough talking to by a coach and 12 parents are at the school the next day wanting him fired. I am not saying the talent was better or worse, I am just saying those kids were tougher
  9. What is the outlook on the Bulldogs? They have not been mentioned in the new look Region 2-2A thread. They have had some pretty good Jr. high teams in the last few years, but that obviously hasn't transferred to high school. What is the problem that they seem to struggle on a yearly basis? Are these jr. high players not playing high school or are the good ones going to Coalfield?
  10. Just checked their schedule and they got Livingston week 4, so yeah, not an easy schedule.
  11. Year round (since 70's at many places), much larger population (no, most small towns are smaller), greater emphasis (no, used to be at many schools a player would go through spring practice before the joined the baseball or track teams. That doesn't happen now), So yes you may need to keep going
  12. you missed the point. Tennessee has recruited in the top 15 and higher and still can't beat Florida, Alabama, or Georgia. You gotta coachem up after you getem. I was just saying they have gotten 4 and 5 stars and still don't win.
  13. as if all those 3,4, and 5 stars they have gotten the last 4 or 5 years have worked out.
  14. I look for Oneida and York here. Monterey and Rockwood may challenge, but Monterey is moving up from 1A and let's be real, there is no Red Boiling or Pickett County on the region schedule this year.
  15. Most all the talk on here right now has Rockwood 4th. Do they have most of their players back from last year?
  16. If you are going to bring blasts from the past up. Nicky Whited was the best player to ever set foot on the floor for York according to everybody who ever saw him.
  17. I noticed looking at Alcoa's schedule that they already have a game for Rivalry Thursday Television. Are all the Thursday games for that already scheduled?
  18. how is it that much different? I watch high school games today and they run a lot of the same stuff that was run all through the decades. The "spread" a lot of teams run today is nothing more that the single wing with wide receivers. I'm seriously not trying to argue or be a jacka** , but please expand.
  19. really,..... in the old systems there were only 3 classifications, now we have 9. How is that easier? Besides that the state championship games were played on one or the others home field up until 82 I think.
  20. they have had success in 1A and 2A both even when there was only 3 classifications including privates with public
  21. both great guys and well liked. I can't imagine the effect this will have on the community and the school, especially a school that small

    8AA

I guess that ended tonight huh?
  23. so you are saying all of this region is not going to lose any except for region games???
  24. What is the outlook for Sequatchie in the 2021 season? I know they struggled down the stretch. Heard rumors that Coach Watt may hang it up as well? Maybe Bolddust can give us some inside info.
