  1. From seeing more of CC’s games, they do have a WR that is pretty long and can catch it decent. He’s #2 I believe. They do, however, seem to turn it over a lot. Looked like lots of forced fumbles, with ball security issues. Any one that has seen them in person want to comment on this?
  2. Some people can’t see the forest for the trees. This ties into the comment you made on the other west TN post. You can have all the talent in the world, but without good coaching it’s not going to get you over the top. Some administrative people and fans will NEVER get this.
  3. Head coach from last year not there anymore? I met him at the championship game and probably set and talked football with him for about 45 minutes. Nice guy, seemed like he probably was a good coach.
  4. Yeah he’d be P.O.’d, but sometimes the truth hurts......
  5. I think Montgomery Central is going to win, but it’s going to be a tall order to beat Hardin County. I know it’s a 2 vs 3 match-up, but really imho it’s a 2 vs 2 game. Hardin county is the 2nd best team in region 6 right now, they are going to be a very tough out in the 1st round.
  6. I see that’s a 3A bracket and not 4A. Don’t want to give away your position on the 4A side of the house just yet.......
  7. I wouldn’t classify all of West TN football as terrible. Mainly 4A in Memphis is the big problem right now, it’s ashame too. There’s some teams like Memphis East and Melrose that use to be some power houses not that long ago. I hear Memphis East might have 1A numbers right now, so they could be moving down. I do agree tho that an entire region making play-offs with all having loosing records is atrocious.
  8. 100% agree. To much football to be played to think that far ahead. One game at a time. On the eastern side of the West bracket and western side of the east bracket, lots of things can happen in week 1 and 2.
  9. Very similar to Springfield’s, from what little I’ve seen. They are not any where near as fast tho, their RB #6 is a pretty hard runner to his credit. Looks like they run a base 4-3 on defense. I haven’t seen enough to see how they do in pass defense, our ground game should put up plenty of yards in this one.
  10. You got me. See what I mean about the literary skills!
  11. That would be ironic, after all the banter between you two all year and it would end so soon.
  12. I agree. The Jackets need to take a blue collar approach in the play-offs. One play at a time and one game at a time mentality. Don’t over look anybody, and thank goodness they started running the slant more. Hey Bob, this play works!
  13. I still think Central wins tho. I don’t think the Tiger’s defense can handle Central’s run game.
  14. I like jawing with this guy. At least he’s got a since of humor and some football intelligence. Plus mostly correct literary skills!
  15. Well I hope you stay “salty” and they stay “scrappy” for Centrals first round game! Maybe we’ll get to rewind that game for another one this year.
  16. I liked how Springfield ran the ball last night. The weather didn’t affect the pass game as much as I thought it would, since it was a blowing mist till half time. Hats off to Creek Wood tho they covered up 23 better than I thought they could, but he still had a good game. 8 looked good after only getting 2-3 touches in the blowout win against Greenbrier last week. Looked like they came out flat, I hope they got that out of their systems. Now it’s time to get down to business in the second season. Let’s get it done Jackets!
  17. Agreed. I like how the freshman #84 has been playing on the d-line. He’s quick off the ball and plays hard thru the whistle. Linebackers seem to be a lot better in their assignments in the last few games too.
  18. Very true, but the placement and catching of the pitch is key. To me its just an underhand pass any way. They didn’t do a very good job last week against Portland in wet conditions doing this (placement). Looked to me like it was a big part of their offense too. Should be a good game either way tho.
  19. Not if they don’t get the pitch down on the option, imho, could hurt them worse.
  20. I agree that their run game is decent, not as good as Central, but still decent. You can tell the QB is playing out of position, he’s a little slow in his reads at times and delivers the pitch option late sometimes. They look up and down tho, they looked sloppy against Portland and a lot better against White House. I know they won’t lay down for Springfield, and I’m positive Springfield won’t either. Huge game with the region championship on the line Friday.
  21. Simplest answer. Middle TN, in 4A, is split in the middle with regions 4&5. Region 4 with Maplewood and the other respected schools go east to play in the regions 1-4 side. Region 5 with Springfield and the other schools go west to play in the regions 5-8 side.
  22. I didn’t know Maplewood had a John Henderson and a Santonio Beard playing for them this year......he and LaMarcus Coker are 2 of the fastest high school football players I’ve ever seen in person
  23. I agree probably too many classes in current configuration. Do I think it will change, no. With most things in life, not much goes backwards. I also can’t see the TSSAA cutting any of its revenue drawing events, like play-off games, by cutting the number of classes down. With the adding of 2 teams to region 6 and 7 4A, it would almost be impossible. Where would the come from? West Tennessee, outside of Memphis and Jackson, is so sparsely populated the teams just aren’t there. You can’t cut out region 8 and add them to 7 and bump some of region 7’s teams to 6, because it would throw the current system off. I don’t agree with automatically getting in the play-offs either, but right now it is what it is.
  24. Wonder where they came from........
