Looking ahead to the season I believe Hampton, Cloudland, and Unaka will be fighting for 1-3 and NG will end up being 4th. NG returns two good guards but lost a lot the last couple of years. They could sneak up on some teams and finish in the top but overall, I feel like the other three teams will be a little better. Should be a really exciting year in District 1A. Likely two teams representing at the state tourney if things go as planned.

What’s the outlook for Boone and TN High Friday night ?

The grasscutters could probably compete with Jellico….Forreal tho I see no problem in this one. They are the worst team in the state. The Cosby and Unaka game should be interesting.

Same…I remember walking into a game several years ago and seeing them and was like my goodness they are massive…but ended up being incredibly soft and slow.

Chicken Legs Jones has never been a good coach. He rode Myers and that line for so long and once they left they aren’t able to compete with quality teams. There are to many cliques at SG to ever do anything about it…I guarantee it’s the group that ran Verran off too.

They released the new classification numbers and it looks like WG will be in 2A in football.

They won a state championship around that time I believe. He isn’t coaching now and I’m not exactly sure what he is up to….they’ve had a few decent teams since then but have struggled lately with talent and everything.

Use to be a really good baseball school as well. Had a pitcher get drafted by the rangers in 2011.

WG does have a decent team this year. Especially in the skill position. They have the best player in Greene County (Ethan Turner)…Average O Line. Will be a tough game for Cloudland to win but not totally out of the question.

I’m going to go with Hampton 28-13. Being at SG will make it closer but still think the bulldogs pull away.

Cosby isn’t an easy place to play and they always seem to play better there. Having it at the creek is a big advantage.

Is there general admission seating on the DB side?

Yepp, can’t wait for some girls basketball. Should be some really good games in district 1A this year.

It’s their varsity minus about 7-8 kids. So right about 18 players. Hv jv beat them like 46-0

NG JV beat Cloudland JV 44-12…. Not sure what to think about that. Cloudland may have kept some younger kids out that play a lot on Friday’s. NG has a good young group so will be interesting to see the next two or three years

That’s exactly why I don’t see anyone dethroning Cloudland any time soon in region 1…none of the other teams can handle a physical war for 4 quarters against them.

Unaka and NG was about what I expected. A lot of people believe NG has improved but it didn’t show up Friday. It was 38-6 before NG scored late in the 4th against unakas subs. Personally I think Unaka was better last year offensively with those receivers and OL they lost. Their overall run D seems better and it will be put to the test this against the Landers. The scrimmage against what some are saying a “sandbagging” HV left a lot of false hope for NG. Unaka and Cloudland should be a better game but I like to think Cloudland is still to much.

Wouldn’t surprise me if NG won a close one or Unaka blew them out. Not sure NG can score enough to stay in the game

Yeah I was expecting that kinda number. I counted about 30 dresses out. Not sure what happened lol

From my observation, I know it’s early and everything but HV looked like they’ll be down again. Numbers didn’t seem very good either. It was definitely a defensive battle with neither team scoring in the first two possessions of varsity action. I was expecting them to have their way with NG but that was not the case at all. Like always, their defense looked way ahead of their offense. Hopefully they’ll improve or it could be another down year.
