  1. Coaches know those who play tough. Everybody "messes up." It's been a long while since I played competitively, but I understood the team concept.
  2. Yes, the Davis girls are identical twins. The video said they were 6'2", but I don't think they are quite that tall. They both went on to play for Clemson. Susan Starnes was another key player on that team. She later played for Tusculum College, a local school, and is in their Hall of Fame (if I'm not mistaken). The Davis girls both teach and coach in the Greene County school system. Jennifer's daughter is a freshman on SG #53. I saw her play last week. She's special. The South Greene community is like a large family. Many of the past players come to the games with their families. Several current players have parents that once played for SG. It's great going to the games.
  3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJFIE03IPko Check out this link to 1993 Meigs and South Greene playing for the title. South Greene had won the previous year. I believe the video was recently posted by one of the Davis sisters. The audio and video are very good. Enjoy.
  4. Grainger will be the team to beat in Upper East Tennessee. They beat a good Northview team in the sectionals, before losing by 8 pts to Cheatham County in the first round of the state tourney last year. I saw them play twice last year. They have size and should match up well with anyone.
  5. Thanks. 910 comes in here during daytime hours. I live about 45 nautical miles away from Johnson City, so...Good Luck to your team. I'll "tune in" to the scoreboard here every once in awhile.
  6. I wasn't surprised by the South Greene loss. I'm not worried about it, either. Oak Ridge has always been tough. They'll win a lot of games this season. South Greene is young and somewhat inexperienced. They start three juniors and two sophomores. Morristown West beat South Greene three times in 2015 and Oak Ridge beat them in the Ladies Classic the following year. All that proves is that even though SG has trouble against AAA schools, they were still capable of going on to win two Class A state titles those two years. I'm not forecasting the same success for SG this season, but I believe by tournament time, they'll be much improved.
  7. Thanks, Willie. It should be a good game.
  8. Do you have a time when the South Greene game or any others will be played on Tuesday? Much appreciated if you can post! Not having any luck finding a schedule for that. I've posted a good article and team picture of South Greene. The article says it better than I can. Good luck to Oak Ridge next week and in the Ladies Classic in Greeneville later in December. The Lady Wildcats are always fun to watch. https://www.greenevillesun.com/coach-refusing-to-call-lady-rebels-a-rebuild/article_4ed2ff88-6cf3-5bff-8ba0-c1941727435f.html?utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter&utm_campaign=user-share
  9. Farragut vs Meigs is "apples and oranges". Same as Farragut and Grainger. That's the meaning of different classifications. What I can't comprehend is the TSSAA sanctioning teams playing two games on the same day. It proves nothing.
  10. I've seen Grainger play last year. They are scary just watching them in warm ups. It did not surprise me that they went to State. Top 5s and Top 10s change, just like the weather. This thread is for predictions. Grainger will be there at the end of the season.
  11. Grainger is one of the best teams in the state.
  12. The season is brand new. Teams figure things out and improve.
  13. Oak Ridge lost Jamie Golden and Mykia Dowdell year before last and Jada Guinn from last year. Golden and Guinn were bookends at guard. Dowdell took up a lot of space and was tough. I believe all three are playing college ball this year. One thing OR has going is Coach Paige Redmon. She'll get the best from her players. Good luck to Meigs. I hope you all win. Nothing against Oak Ridge. I just like to see new kids have the chance to excel. PS: Where's Willie the Wildcat? it would be nice to hear what he has to say.
  14. South Greene varsity girls won in overtime. Can't give an official score, as this report comes from one of the BBall moms. Sounded like it was a very sloppy game. SG JV girls lost.
  15. South Greene JV and Varsity girls are playing at Cloudland tomorrow night. That's according to South Greene Boosters Twitter page @rebelsportssghs
  16. I must say that it's nice to see a Greene Devil fan pulling for a county team. I hope both teams from Greene win tonight. Not making any predictions, though. I've had to eat a lot of crow over the years. Good luck to everyone taking the field—no matter the school.
  17. I believe the weather should be good for this time of year. Yes. Let's hope for a good game without any serious injuries.
  18. Thanks, man. I've been here a couple of years on Coach T. Nice images you have posted. Interesting.
  19. The website is a new one. I'm weary of pro sports these days, and hope this site will be an interesting one for those of us from Greene County.
  20. Here's link to the game. Looks like SG's QB is hurt and may not play. They are big up front on offense. Good luck to both teams, https://www.greenecountysports.com/copy-of-south-greene-vs-rockwood-fb-1 The article says the game is "Tonight". They must be counting on people to not read the article until tomorrow. The website's schedule, has the game listed to play on Friday November 15.
  21. I was raised to believe that the only stupid question is the one you DON'T ask. So...Why is Meigs County scheduled to play two games during the same afternoon?
  22. I checked Coach T's Meigs schedule and it appears they are playing AT Grainger. Grainger is not a young team anymore and should be one of the best AA teams in the east this season. The game with Meigs will be a good one.
  23. They should do well in the tournament. South Greene is very young, but should do well in their district. Going against teams like Meigs and Upperman, however, will/would be tough.
