  1. I AGREE - what happen to the Warrior class of old????? This "new and improved" version is a disgrace to the community....
  2. FREE THROWS are the key. If the lady warriors come out like they have this week in earlier games, I fear they will be beaten. Memphis Central is not a team to dilly dally with. We'll see......
  3. 7AAA - Now that the regular season is over, I think we need to look at the overall performance of the teams based on their coaches input. Hands down, Jennifer Grandstaff wins the award for best coach in the district. Why, you may ask? Look at her record. Look at her longevity. Look at her patience. Look at her ability and Xs and Os. Look at the improvement of this year's team. But by far, look at her determination and the confidence she has in her team. Oakland will be a force to reckon with in the next few years. And without Grandstaff and her coaching staff, don't know if they could do it. She is finally getting the talent and props she deserves after, what? about 7 or 8 years? Glad to see a great coach rewarded for her stamina and coaching strength!!!
  4. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!! NONE of the Champions of AAA's games?!?!?!?!?! That would be Riverdale...in case anyone doesn't know. you must be related to the guys at the Tennessean, who also did not have ANY coverage in the paper of the CHAMPIONSHIP GAME!!! No stats , no nothin... Sad, but true....
  5. As a matter of fact, I do know this lady as well, (a very close friend) and she was referring to the girl by her nickname "Juicey" Sorry you took offense. Her daughter and teammates know her from summer ball, so looks like YOU'RE the one who owes the apology... Congrats lady warriors, sorry this poster had to put a damper on your very awesome win!
  6. How many games have you seen the Warriors play? They play very well together as a team, as well. IMO, AML sees the floor better than any player I know. We'll see....
  7. OUCH!!! I'm assuming you must be a White Co. fan... but, hey lighten up on the criticisms!! Really, a HORRIBLE TOURNEY??!?!?!?!? I beg to differ that the teams are garbage - obviously they did SOMETHING to earn their way there! Honestly, I think it will be a "refreshing" tourney with not the same teams as always. And just look at the records, the teams there must be worthy. Last but not least, your comment about AML was crass and low class. Remember, she IS someone's daughter, granddaughter, sister, etc. Don't think you'd like someone talking about your kid like that. These boards are not for posters like you - who tear down and don't encourage or stay somewhat positive. Especially when it's regarding a player... Also, if you're going to be so strong as to say that her likely getting the award is "undeserved" then you should have somethng to back up your statements... Apologies needed....
  8. In support of uncfan09 (who started this thread) the U on the keyboard is adjacent to the I.... It's okay UNCFAN09 - some of us out here have your back....
  9. S Thomas is out. Tore his ACL for sure. Bummer. Just adds to the impressive win tonite!

  11. Mental toughness wins every time. Good example: Monday night's game of Riverdale vs. Shelbyville girls. Although Riverdale is a great team (athletic ability, etc.) their mental toughness, or rather, Shelbyville's LACK of mental toughness is what won the game by such a great margin. Shelbyville is not used to losing, and certainly not by that much. They were down 25 for at least 2 quarters, and trailed after the 1st quarter for the rest of the game. It was VISIBLY noticable how the girls panicked and became frustrated. It showed that they didn't know how to lose - which is sometimes just as important of a lesson as it is to know how to win. Shelbyville lost their composure and never regained it. Maybe having the name SHELBYVILLE can get you so far, but I think this team (and all teams) need to acquire mental toughness as much as skill. My two cents....
  12. THANKS SHOOTMORE! I just read this post, literally 5 minutes before this aired, and was able to catch it. It was a great story, or rather IS a great story. Both ladies are class acts, and I agree with Rachel : God placed them there for a reason - no coincidences here. Good luck to both coaches and teams in post season !
  13. If I had a daughter who played ball: Wendy Scott - Lawrenceburg Kathy Dye - Page Both class act ladies who know the game.
  14. Heard on the news - Riverdale by 3.
  15. Not to be crass, but... MtJBears, really, you do know you have a spell check, right? Or is the term "phennionable" a new Mt. Juliet term used to describe the Bearettes? (And what is that? Lady Bears, perhaps?) All aside, I respect the Lady Bears or Bearettes(?). You guys are incredible, and are having a great year.
  16. No doubt she's Summit's next project... Coach T, If she wins Miss Basketball, would this be a first as far as a Freshman getting the title? If so, WOW! Can't help but root for this girl!!!!!
  17. You did say RD needed AML just as much as Oakland needed TD, to which I humbly replied that NO THEY DID NOT - they did it without her for 12 games! Maybe I need thick skin, but dang, get the chip off your shoulder! BTW, as RD is not my "team" (none really are, as I am merely a 7AAA spectator who happens to like great girls basketball, thus my affinity for RD) I DID in an earlier post say TD got my vote....
  18. Just for clarification: I checked last year's stats and AML was out for 12 games last year with a stress fracture, AND Riverdale's team stepped up (mostly Bevins) and kept winning and WON the district, and just fell one game short of State. So the statement that Riverdale is nothing without AML is FALSE. Again, everyone else doesn't get enough credit...
  19. Tara gets my vote. Although, let's face it everyone, AML will get the award, I'd bet my life on it. I just know I'd hate to be one of her team mates since she has ALWAYS gotten all the attention. She IS an excellent player... but not to the extreme that everyone says....
  20. 2PRICELESS - you're right on - thanks for at least a little support. Seems some pretty strong opinions here. And no, I'm not a player. I don't even have a dog in the fight, just an observer with BIG ears...
  21. whatever FYI - nothing has ever been said negatively about AML's comment...
  22. Obviously, the article was read. Your reply IMO, is the easy way out. Maybe you are waaaaaay too callous. Especially if you think that this was a mere statement of fact. And again, IMO NOBODY should berate players publically. Ive heard the girls are VERY TOUGH, so no need to toughen up, and by no choice, they will get over it, I'm sure. Just a shame that this goes on. There are other ways of doing things. Ber
  23. TOTAL AGREEMENT. I mean, what kind of coach, or person, for that matter, would say such negative things about his own team publically? Not to mention that this was said about a 23-4 team, a WINNING team, a team that has a shot at the big dance! I don't understand his motivation. And the comment made about the team just "watching" AML score: this is because he tells them NOT to shoot, and runs the offense around this ONE player. Sounds like he's trying to cover up his own coaching inadequacies...coward... He's really stirred up a hornet's nest this time. A public apology might help some, but he's probably gonna have to spend a lot of energy winning back his players' respect. Can't imagine how their parents' must feel. Any parents' out there???
