Westy in a shocker 16-13

The 97 TC team is the reason everyone is so hyped up about beating Hartsville like a drum now that they’re down! That team absolutely destroyed everybody and didn’t show any kind of mercy!
-
Travel is horrible… our closes region game is 1 hr away and most being over 2. Should’ve went ahead and took Republic off and placed us in 5.
-
Watertown got screwed with all the travel.

Anything to help!

I myself was kicked off a team because I acted a fool. I thought I was above the rules and if it weren’t for that coach and the Grace of God there is no telling where my life would’ve ended up. It was a tough lesson to learn, but it’s one that I’m glad I learned early so I didn’t ruin my life.

I’ve not kept up with that program in a couple years so this is not a shot at Brooks. Im saying if a kid is becoming a problem and it is affecting your team or not following the rules… there are 2 things that I know that can be done no matter how talented the kid is… 1 is sit him and if that don’t work dismiss him off the team. It shouldn’t matter how he is raised at home in terms of discipline. If you allow kids to continuously break rules that you have had set then you are no better than the parent that you are pointing the finger at. ( again not a shot at any kid and or parent) Your main responsibility when you’re leading a bunch of kids is to try to turn them into productive adults bottom line! If you refuse to do that because your afraid to lose a few games then you have done your team, yourself and the kid a disservice! What kind of an example is to the kid or the rest of team if you allow him to continue to break rules because he is really good at football.

Disagree… they can act anyway they want to at home, but when they decide to play a sport the coach should have full control of their team! If they want to act like fools then they sit or don’t remain in the team. These coaches are sometimes the only true leadership these kids can get. Stop worrying about wins and losses and worry about making these kids men! Speaking from experience and though I didn’t like it at the time… the coach that showed me this kind of leadership is one of the men I respect most now that I’m an old man!

I’ve watched Alcoa and I’ve watched Westview. Though I think Westview and Covington are neck and neck. Westview would be a matchup problem for Alcoa. Westview is not better than Ravenwood, but they also don’t have the passing game that Westview has and would cause a much bigger problem for Alcoa on that side of the ball. If Westview’s line holds up they will be a problem for Alcoa or anyone in the state of TN defense. The defense is suspect but there is no one in any classification that has a better passing game. Its all about matchups!

I’m from Middle TN and watch a lot of private and 6 A football. Granted I’ve only seen Westview once this year, but if they can run routes and catch like they did last night consistently. They would still be better than anything in Middle TN. I can’t speak for out east, but I would find it hard to believe that you can find a GROUP better than Westview. ( might have individual talent better, but not group)
-
No doubt they will, but if Westview line can hold up I don’t think there is a team in the state ( the above included) that DB’s can stop Westview from being successful passing the ball. They may not have the numbers they had last night but they’ll be successful. High School kids are just not used to that kind of passing game. They don’t just have one or two receivers they have 6 or 7 who can flat out play… hard to stop no matter who you are!
-
Agree…
-
Nailed it… the only way to beat that kind of offense is get to the QB early and often!
-
100% agree. I was just telling my buddy the same thing. You can play all the 6 A teams you want and not see anywhere near that kind of passing attack.
-
The kid is special for sure, but his receivers are special as well. Like I said…to have all that talent on one team at the High School level is something I personally have not seen in TN
-
I knew the numbers would be astronomical! The kid is crazy good!
-
100% agree… it’s hard to get both at the same time and Westview has them!
