  1. Union City wins district 13 with Greenfield coming in second and Gleason third. Biggs and Crouse will step up for the lady jackets, as they have played big minutes the past couple of years. Amy Mitchell also played some key minutes off the bench when the starters got in foul trouble. A lot of people slept on Biggs and Crouse's defensive play too. Biggs is a big guard who has the ability to play multiple positions on the floor and Crouse is quick off her feet to close out on defenders. This team will really go how far Edie Darby carries them. She has the skills to be the next big point guard in West Tennessee. The key for Greenfield though is do they have enough players to step and fill out the rest of the starting lineup, and do they have the depth to play against a team like Gibson county or Union City.
  2. Anna Trull applied, this marks the second time that the administration has said no to her. Heard quite a few people put an application in.
  3. I like your point. I feel like he will have them in tip top shape when the season starts. He works on a lot of fundamentals with the boys in practice so this will translate to the girls too. I think he will handle all the drama and the egos too.
  4. Yea same I don't know if you follow McKenzie basketball but the girls should pretty good next year and the boys should drop off. It is rare for a school of McKenzie's size (about 375 students) to have the same person coaching both girls and boys basketball. My other question is.. I want to know who applied for the job or if any did at all? There are so many people in our area and around West Tennessee that would have went after before Coach Wilkins.
  5. I am not sure either. This hire confused me. The boys will drop off this year but the girls should be better. I wonder if he wanted the job or if the administration pushed him to take it. Just hope he gives equal attention to both teams. Also he has never coached a girls team before so this year will be interesting.
  6. Great hire.. even though his name didnt pop up in my mind. I just hope that he gives equal attention to both programs. I am excited to see how far he takes our girls program over the next few years. Maybe he will keep all the girls who attitude problems in check.
  7. very true. Team drama . Some of the girls that kept the pot stirring are seniors so maybe all the crap will stop. Need a passionate coach that is tough and can develop players. These next few years are our best chance to step and win the district (Huntingdon loses their 3 stars). If we get the right coach in there and develops the players like he/she should, we will be tough to beat.
  8. She taught at McKenzie elementary for 5 years after you resigned from West Carroll. She could have coached at the high school level. Our high school baseball coach teaches 4th grade.
  9. Clarksville. leads a children's ministry at The Bridge.
  10. Yes she did for 2 years. She taught 2nd grade at McKenzie elementary until last school year. She now lives in Clarksville to be closer to her brothers family.
  11. He wasn't forced out. He put a long facebook post/explanation on why he left. Very great person and Coach (he knows what he is talking about), but he isn't stern and is too nice with players. He doesn't do a very good job of disciplining or pushing them in practice. Our teams were never fit and were out of shape. Its takes a lot of motivation to get 15 to 18 year old girls to buy into what you are saying and he just didn't have it. He will have to get tougher to become a better coach. Anna Trull was very disappointed when they gave the job to Lance instead of her. Many people were puzzled why they gave the job to a guy that was from 3 hours away instead of the best basketball player to ever come out of McKenzie. She has moved to Clarksville this year and now leads a children's ministry there. She would be the right fit but I doubt she moves back to McKenzie after being in Clarksville for a short time. She is tough, knows how to win, and everyone in McKenzie respects her. Would be a stretch but I am all for her being hired.
  12. He has applied for other jobs in Middle TN but I haven't heard anything else. He is a really good coach if a school has an opening. He is from the cannon county area.
  13. Kind of shocking that this happened but I understand that he wanted to be closer to his family in Middle Tennessee. We are proud of the way he has rebuilt our program back to being competitive and competing for district and region titles year after year. Thank you Coach Mac for a fun five years. It will be interesting to see who applies for the job. McKenzie is a great school system and a great town to live in.
  14. McKenzie has been playing too up and down lately, but they should be fine come tournament time. West Carroll is a improved squad and are getting hot at the right time. I know Loretto is still a good ball club, so it should be a battle come tournament time.
  15. Yes you are right about Carrie Hatchel. She was a tough as nails but played too physical. She went on and started 2 years for Freed Hardeman. She was their leading scorer last year and could shoot the lights out. She had a big game in the NAIA national championship and eventually led to them to their first title. I think she had the game winning shot if I am not mistaken.
  16. McKenzie, Madison, and West Carroll looking good over here in the west.
  17. Childress is a great ball player. Bethel is interested in her. Very surprised she isn't being recruited more...
  18. Yes I was there. A lot of McKenzie people went because we didn't have a game that night. Huntingdon cut the lead to 12 or 13 points in the 3rd but trevathan put Tess and Chloe back in so Greenfield could get their big lead back. We haven't seen somebody put 59 points on the jackets this year and the fillies did it. If Huntingdon didn't take a couple of bad shots and turn the ball over in the second quarter, the game would have been closer.
  19. 100% agree. I ain't happy that the region is in middle Tennessee this year instead of bethel. Rather have homecourt advantage lol. Huntingdon can be a dangerous team. Swenson I think is one of the most underrated players in our area. She could get some minutes at a NAIA or D2 school.
  20. We have been 2a for about 10 to 12 years (my estimate). But even when we were in 2a we made deep runs in the playoffs. Comer has been at McKenzie since the late 90s.
  21. I agree! Don't count the fillies out of the mix. The had a very tight game with Summertown last year in the semis. Huntingdon is underrated. They have played Greenfield the closest that any west TN single A team have this year. Swenson is improved and Reed is hard to guard in the paint and out on the wing. Don't count out my McKenzie lady rebels either, they improving game by game..
  22. McKenzie has always had good athletes, not a good coach. We went from a program that regularly competed for region/ district titles to a team that barley or doesn't make the playoffs. He treats the players like crap which forces most of them to quit. Comer never has anything positive to say and is always negative. Back in the mid 2010s we had prolly 60 to 70 kids on the team and now we have 40 to 45. People in the community and in the school system are fed up with how much the program underachieves.
  23. No we lose our QB. Until we get another head coach we will not challenge for the region.
  24. 1. Greenfield no doubt 2. UC/Dresden/GC..... Union city and Gibson County would a game worth watching. Dresden could be a sneaky team when their shooters are hot from the 3 and Winn has her way in the post.
