Great post and makes sense to me! Saying that, the T$$AA rarely does anything that makes sense. Knowing them and their ties to Milan, I think the delay may be to provide time to come up with a statement relating to the excuse of why they are allowing Milan to do what they are doing (cheat). After all, they (at least one BOC member) have known about the “Academy “ since its inception and they didn’t put a stop to it or add the numbers themselves.

Until we “finally” win the big one, we will most likely be the underdog. This, even if we run the table again this year. Before some of you get into the biased thing, football is different in the East than here in Middle Tennessee. Fundamentals may be similar but the game itself is played different and the athletes seem to be different as well. Not stating one region is better than the other. Just differences across the board.

I agree. Definitely going to be difficult to complete against what is perhaps the best 3A school in 2A.

Nah, I’ve said it for three years now, they are scared of competition. Now I’m beginning to think they are petrified. They have bounced around so many classifications (2A, 4A, 3A) that they finally just resorted to cheating. (Straight up cheating). They have their guy in the T$$AA and are basically saying “do something about it”. Not sure about decades ago but the past several years they have run from Covington and then Alcoa and a couple of others. Now it’s Westview, Covington and a couple of others. I’ll say it here and coin the wording: Milan is the best 3A school in 2A!

Question; since Milan is #1 in 2A and we all know they should be in 3A, how do you guys feel they would do against both Westview and Covington?

I just hope we are not the Bills of the 90’s. At first, we were just excited as a program “just to be there”. Now, it’s as if we deserve to be there.

It might take a few years but with Milan being called out for cheating and not being in 3A, I have a feeling something will change.

You will have to forgive the question if it comes across crude but, as has been highly documented in the 2A board, there are teams that go undefeated or one loss year in and year out only to falter in the first or second round of the playoffs. That team or those teams often play one decent team all season. @BIGPURPLEMACHINEand @tradertwohave seen it documented well. That’s why they sounding off like they are but yet commenting on threads started by @Pizzpatriot2.

With so much changing over the past few years, especially with the coaching changes, does anyone see Riverside moving back East to R5? That definitely would alleviate some pressure on R6. The fact is, R6 the past few years has been the dominant region and, that’s including 3A milan in it. Would seem Scotts Hill would go in R5 now they are moving back down but is Summertown staying 2A? The next question is would R4 split up and send a team or two west and R6 send a team or two west provided Riverside doesn’t come East?

Just curious, I know Richland got into the playoffs on that Fayetteville forfeit/trouble some years back but, how long has it been since they earned a playoff spot and how long since they won? I think this is great for them!

The old (maybe current) SEC of 2A. Really though, can anything be done about moving other teams in the region and replacing some? Riverside and Adamsville have spent time in R5.

Hohenwald is no stranger to playing teams in larger classifications-Lawrenceburg, Spring Hill, Creekwood, Unionville, etc. So, if you think 3A Milan is intimidating to them, you are misinformed.

A lot of people are picking 3A Milan over Hohenwald but I digress. Not sure if Hohenwald is the same team as last year. Their record isn’t as good but I think this may be a surprise year for them.

The fact of the matter is, Westview only played one team this year that is considered good and that was Covington. The same could be said for Covington as well. To fully discern if WV is actually legit, just how good was/is Covington? If Covington really wasn’t that good then that means WV really isn’t because they barely squeaked by. Thoughts?

From my understanding WV has basically the same team for two more years including the OL and DL then Simpson’s last year will be rough unless they move down to 2A.

Have to add Milan to this West Tn 3A schools in the playoffs.

Great post OP and one that was highly debated a couple of years ago. With so many 5/6A schools in Williamson and Davidson counties, you can put all of the schools in a hat and draw for regions and all the schools are relatively close. Since we moved up from 4A, for some reason, we have had more success. Indy, Franklin and Giles are traditional rivals and all are typically good and, add Fairview in the mix. If Indy and Franklin were back in 5A, their schedules and W/L records would be completely different. They usually are in 6A anyway. Even with what seems like a weak schedule, we have made it to the ‘ship the past few years and, this is despite a large amount of skepticism. Add in we have several top college commits and one 5* commit. I’m hoping this year we bring the gold ball home!

If Milan was in 3A would they be in the same region as Westview and Covington? If so, would they still be ranked as high as fifth with three, maybe four losses?

Gotta figure out which teams are actually 2A and which are actually 3A.

This is going to be a tough one to call. Giles plays all year just for the playoffs. They play 4A, 5A and 6A schools and not just pushovers, during the season. However, as others have commented, they do seem to be down this year. It will be interesting to see how they do.
