  1. thanks for having us Wave! So many of us came because as parents we don't know what we have at this point and have been chomping at the bit to find out. Like what we see but we know its a work in progress. We definitely needed the work more than you guys and a shortened scrimmage really hurts as we have yet to establish our identity. Lot of Sophs out there learning hard lessons. They need every snap possible before we start this season. They are young and youth brings inexperience. Inexperience brings inconsistency. They have to work hard to develop and grow in order to consistently compete. It'll happen after hard lessons learned. We just might beat someone we shouldn't and lose to someone we shouldn't. But I expect a long year. Building for tomorrow. The Wave looked good. You can tell you guys are well coached and disciplined. Good to see. Good speed and D flies around to the ball. Good luck this year.
  2. Ahhh, the good ole days of having to win the district to move on to the playoffs (only 3 classes by the way). I played on a strong Covington team in the mid-80's that only gave up 55 points all year long and still missed the playoffs in 3A because we finished 2nd. Man! Definitely too many classes today and too many teams in the playoffs but I guess it's better than missing out if you finish 2nd.
  3. Sr's didn't have to move schools nor did collegiate academy students at Blackman and Oakland. This year will be very heavy soph participation. As far as scrimmages go, I believe the Wave are the 1st one. Sounds like it'll be 2 scrimmages and a jamboree then LaVergne 1st game. Looking forward to the season but it's going to be a big learning curve.
  4. You are correct. I believe there are 105 kids on the team and 86 are Fresh/Soph's. That's 82%. Also the starting QB (right now) is a Soph and was a WR at Riverdale. He's picking up things quick but he's a WR playing QB at this point. He needs the game reps to progress. Right now before contact most of the starters are going to be Sophs. Throw in only a handful of weeks in pads before the season kicksoff without any spring practice. A 5 win season would be strong in a tough region in the top class with all things considered. Give 'em three years and I believe they'll be competing on a consistent basis.
  5. HaHa! Well played with some old school REM! Nice tune. But, please, please come back to Rockvale as football returns to the Rockvale community of Murfreesboro after all these years. Getting exciting around here! Looking forward to the season.
  6. Good win for you Panthers. I guess if you have to lose one that’s the way to lose it. Was like a prize fight, blow for blow. Hated the outcome but your guys made the play when it counted. I will have to give your coach props for going for two since we were having a hard time stopping that dive/draw. Win it there and not risk a second OT. Also his adjustments midway thru 3rd thru the 4th on offense attacking our weaknesses on D. Basically ran a variation of two plays that we couldn’t stop. That’s what a good coach does - keep attacking a weekness. 12 Cobb is the real deal. He’s hard to stop. Great arm and sneaky speed. Tough kid too. Going to be a big loss when he graduates. All the Eagles played hard and put themselves in position to win. Just couldn’t make the play when it really mattered. Vandy, hope you’re not suggesting the refs travelled down with us and that’s the only thing that kept us in the game. That’s selling our kids short. I’ll give you maybe there should have been a penalty for our kid punching a RS on their sideline. I didn’t see it because where it took place but I’ll take your word for it. But don’t tell me RS wasn’t playing with a level of chippyness that earned some of those Unsportsmanlike calls. They were clearly others that could have been called that weren’t. Also the PI’s weren’t warranted either I guess. Lol. Bottom line neither D had an answer for the others O especially after the rain stopped. They both played hard and it’s was a heck of a game to watch. Good for the Panthers for the win. And we’re very proud of how our Eagles played. Oh and by the way, the chili was good and thanks for allowing us to be a part.
  7. Thanks for the vote of confidence Gen’l. Time will soon tell!
  8. Should be! Or it could be a blow out. Lol. But I’m banking EHS 28 RS 24. Looking forward to it and save some chili for me!
  9. I know where you are coming from but you can also look at this way. Obion County was a common opponent to both LC and RS. Lost to LC 49-18 and only lost to RS 14-7. I think there are too many variables in play during a game to just rely on scores in common games. LC is a goood team. Are they as good as last years team? I don’t think so. But I also don’t think CA is a better team than their team from last year. And that’s probably with their QB. Heck I think Eagleville is not as good as they were last. But again, all still good teams capable of beating the Waverly’s, RS, and who ever. It’s going to come down to the schemes and attacking weaknesses. At this point, I promise you of those teams mentioned those kids are confident and none of them are going to lay down to the kids in the other jerseys.
  10. LC was down by 8 with about a minute on their side of the field. Facing something like a 4th and 15. AND converted it. Made the play when it counted. A couple big hitters later and they’re in the end zone. Go for two and get it. Two OT’s to decided it. LC did what it took to win it but Eagleville had it in their grasp. It was like watching Ali and Frazier trade blows.
  11. Thanks for the info. Yep, you just can’t replace history. Sometimes it’s not a bad thing. Look forward to the game. I’ll be the one across the way yelling! Lol.
  12. Question for you Riverside folks. Didn’t the school used to be called Parsons Riverside back in the 70’s-80’s? Did it merge or was a new one built? Or am I just wrong?
  13. That’s nice of you Riverside people to invite us from Eagleville. It will be a long drive. Y’all stay safe and we’ll see you then.
  14. You must really lover her Starns... really really love her. Lol.
  15. Versus world hunger?.... that’s some funny stuff right there! Keep ‘em coming.
  16. 100% agree. Back in the day it was only 3 classes and there was no split. State has grown but we’ve pulled out the D2’s AND added 3 other classes. Too many. Travel is too much and expensive especially for the smaller schools. Playoffs are watered down. Need 4 at the most with the split.
  17. Yup, Cornersville is a better team this year than they were last year. That D is fast and they flock to the ball. I’d bet they would give some 3A teams a run for their money.
  18. EHS has a chance. It won’t be a lay down. EHS is slightly down from last year. Missing the big hard nosed lineman and the D has some holes. But they have the skill players to not only compete but to win if you take them for granted.
  19. There is a Memphis region where there are only 4 teams in it and all are sub-500. Of course all are in the playoffs. There are other regions in various classes where there are 4-5 teams in it. So we have numerous sub-500’s in and some undersized Regions. Some of these schools (especially many of the small ones) play in Regions with travel over an hour +. Are we sitting with too many Classes? Should we be sitting with 4-5 classes?
  20. There’s a new high school being built in Rutherford Co between Eagleville and Murfreesboro. Set to open next year. The tentative zone is cutting into Eagleville and per the DNJ put the enrollment about 250, down some 200 kids. If that stands they’ll move down to 1A. Not sure if it’ll be ‘19 or ‘20.
