To be fair Upperman squeaked by Stone twice. And they should have lost the first one. But the WC rematch will be fun. It won’t be a 30 pt butt kicking but I still think it will be 15 pt game. They have no answer inside. Especially if Reed and Jones show up the same night.

They have a shot. Not sure what the Chattanooga region looks like on the boys side but I think they will handle the Rutherford County region. And if they get a home sectional game, I think they can make it. I think they have 4 players averaging double digits and a 5th player at like 9.5/game. And with the freshmen class we have this year they will be turning alot of heads next year too.

That’s why the travel is so far for some teams. A lot of smaller schools not making the change which leaves big gaps in the map. But the idea of a true state championship should be appealing to most programs.

It was over early in White County! And they didn’t let up! Good win.

There hasn’t been enough talk about how good this Cookeville team is. In the past they have played selfish and not very good on either end of the court. Not this team! They sure are fun to watch. They play at a very high level on both ends of the floor. Lock down defenders and shooters all over the court! I expect them to make a run at a trip to the glass house this year. If you haven’t seen them play you need to check them out. They are really good!

Hmmm Wilson County teams complaining about having to travel for Region tournament??? Where have I heard that before?? Ohhh maybe it was when Cookeville was supposed to host the Region last year!

Sevier County was definitely left off that list. A couple of those will be favorites but there isn’t a lot of separation in most divisions between top 5. Bradley Central is probably the exception but they are matched up with the middle TN regions.

You have to ignore these posts. It’s every week on the football boards. They make no sense. Don’t feed the guru…maybe it will go back over to the football boards.

LOL. Yeah that’s what a lot of teams have thought. I would say Cookeville is a very good defensive team. Top 5 4A team. She just puts a lot of pressure on the defense with her physical play and ball handling. She doesn’t take bad shots. She makes the right pass. This isn’t your typical ball hog, shoot every time down the court type of player scoring 35 - 40 pts. She is the REAL deal. But I agree someone else needs to score more for them to win it all. We didn’t try to keep her from getting the ball. We tried to limit her open looks without leaving too many easy buckets for other players. It’s a tough task.

I have been a big Beaty fan since middle school. She is definitely one of the best in the state at any level. Cookeville doesn’t play zone defense normally but they did against her. So she makes 4 straight 3s to open the game! They always seem to do that ball stalling game at some point in the game. It’s how they play so it was nothing new. They execute so well in half court that they can do that with the lead. The momentum definitely shifted in the 3rd. This Lady Cavs team doesn’t quit playing. We have seen 3 of the best in AA in Masingale, Newman, and Beaty . They are all VERY good. York will need someone else to step up if they are going to make a gold ball run. You can’t have Beaty scoring 35 of your 45 pts. Werner will be that second scorer most nights. I am definitely watching that AA title game this year! Wow…

Cookeville takes down a very good York team in OT and extends their home win streak to 31 games. It was a battle again just like last matchup between these two teams. An amazing game. If you love basketball catch the replay over on Upper Cumberland Reporter Facebook page. In both games Cookeville had a bad stretch and York took a double digit lead. In both games Cookeville comes back to take a lead late in game. This time Cookeville makes the shots that counted down the stretch to send game to OT. Lady Cavs hold York scoreless in overtime to take the win 45-50. Beaty is the real deal with 35 pts in the game. Wish there was a round 3….it was that good.

That lineup has the potential to be some great games! There are 2-3 that I want to watch.

The AP polls are always trash. They only vote for teams in their area. Or they vote based a teams historical record. They know nothing about statewide rankings. You should have to watch games outside of your area before you can vote on a state wide ranking.

I read an interview about her transferring to Catholic and it sounded as though her dad played with Catholic coach in high school and their daughters have a long relationship of playing basketball together. Weird situation with a mid season transfer from a team that is one of our the favorites for a state championship. Especially with the relationship they described in the interview.

I actually believe they will win this district. They have tons of talent. But that doesn’t change the fact that their schedule is crap. They will get better as the year goes on but anyone with one eye can see that they played a cupcake schedule. You think they are ready for a defense like Upperman or CC? I don’t.

Those Fillies can shoot the ball. Against Cookeville, they shot 80+% from FT and started the game shooting 75% from 3. They cooled off and shot 60% from 3 for the game! We turned them over alot and killed them on the offensive boards or we would have been in trouble with the way they were shooting. Very talented team.

That team can flat play! And they play on both ends of the court. I was very impressed when we played them earlier this year.

Webb is young but very talented with some excellent shooters. If Green gets cooking she can take over the game alone. She is one of the best 2026 players in the state. They are very dangerous but turned the ball over alot in the 2 games vs Cookeville.

Championship game today is Cookeville vs Gatlinburg Pittman at 4:00 ET. And it should be a great game. Cookeville is probably the underdog in this one on GP home court. It depends on which Lady Cav team shows up. If we get a good start we have a shot. We beat them this summer but I think that was without their PG. But this game could go either way. Win or lose games like this make both teams better and both are getting prepared for a run at a gold ball.

I think he was referring to the way the Fillies were just driving in trying to draw contact and not really get to the basket. We didn’t do anything different defensively except playing multiple people on the post after our post got in early foul trouble. They gave a couple early fouls that looked like solid defense but there wasn’t as many fouls called after that. But the officials have been terrible in both games so I can definitely see why people are frustrated with them. But big props to your girls shooting the ball. They were lights out from 3 and FT line. They will win a lot of games this year.

Great game Fillies! As usual we were off to a slow start and picked it up in the second half. If the Fillies could have kept us off the offensive glass it would have been a different story. We had a TON of offensive rebounds. You have a very good team that can play with anyone. Good luck the rest of the season.

Cookeville led by double digits vs Knott County almost the entire game. Looks like the Lady Cavs vs Huntingdon Fillies is going to be a good one. I know our coach was impressed with the Fillies play yesterday. Hopefully our D can slow them down a little and we can turn out another solid performance. We don't look past many teams so the Cavs should be ready to play. I just never like mid day games. Seems like it takes us a while to get going. We haven't been playing that well of late but I still expect them to come out firing today. Game will be streamed on Upper Cumberland Reporter 2 facebook page.
