  1. Cookeville has a big challenge this weekend with Blackman on Friday followed by Warren on Saturday. The Lady Cavs have been looking really good the past couple weeks. Their defense is relentless. And they will need that same effort when Blackman comes to town. Hopefully the Cavs can keep it rolling Friday night but I expect it to be a war. This team has grown alot the past couple months and are looking to make a deep run at a gold ball this year. Friday will be nothing but a measuring stick but I do know its big game for these girls. I hope Warren is not a trap game but its looking like it.
  2. Someone screenshot this before it is deleted….
  3. You are making yourself look like a fool. Coffee County has a very good chance to win state THIS YEAR. They have already beaten IMO the #1 team in the state in Blackman. Just crawl back under that rock already.....
  4. Just stop! Some of the poorest athletes and families in the state are the best players in the state on the best teams. Fielding a 10-15 player basketball team doesn’t take a lot of money. There has been plenty of times in the past when teams like Clarkrange and Jackson County has came in and whipped Cookeville’s butt. You can’t buy heart, effort, and determination. Go watch Hoosiers a few time and maybe you will understand. .
  5. On some threads you know whats coming....but on this one it went from basketball to socioeconomic craziness in 5.4 seconds.
  6. I agree. They are playing terrible right now but I believe they can turn that around. Too much talent not to. And when they do they will be in the mix.
  7. First time I had seen them play this year so not sure if anyone quit or not. Cookeville defense is very good. I think Lebanon scored 3 pts in 3rd quarter. Cookeville played bench for entire 4th quarter. Big week for the Cavs with Blackman rolling into Cookeville on Friday. Hopefully we will be ready to play.
  8. You are only making my point. Catholic has a losing record. Like I said BC is a very good team with a weak schedule. You were the one talking about how tough the schedule was. Sometimes that happens. Catholic and Warren should have been alot better this year but that happens sometimes during scheduling but BC didn't go out of their way to get a tough out of confernece schedule and they sure won't have one in the district (excluding Cleveland)
  9. I can see this district as a toss up. Coaches voted Lebanon, Cookeville , GH in top 3 (in that order). Cookeville isn't playing that well of late. Just not consistent on defense or offense. I don't think we ran a set play right the entire night vs GH. The GH win was a good one for them but Cookeville should win that game most nights. It was a horrible performance overall for the Cavs but down the stretch it was fun to watch with both teams making plays back to back to back. Officiating crew was the worst all year and that wasn't just for Cookeville, I am sure GH thinks the same. Looking forward to seeing the CKVL vs Lebanon tomorrow. Hall vs Heard should be fun. But I sure won't miss seeing Alexander this year! He was a game changer last year on both sides of the court.
  10. Anyone who says that they haven't played anyone just hasn't looked at their schedule. That simply isn't true with (2) games against Blackman and one against York. They obviously have some cupcakes on the schedule and the beat them like a cupcake. But you don't beat Blackman and York unless you have a very good team. And after looking closer, they started the season by playing 8 games in 10 days. Including games against York and Blackman. Thats just crazy! Probably deserve a few cupcakes after that. Its going to be fun to see who makes it out of that sectional.
  11. Correct Coffee and Warren both move to new section (which they should love).. Cookeville and Lebanon join.
  12. Next year you add Lebanon and Cookeville to that group and again 2 come out.
  13. Correct. So 2 teams out of Region 3 (Cleveland, Bradley, Coffee, and Warren) will face top two out of Region 4 (Blackman, Oakland, and Stewarts Creek) in sectional. So in reality one of Bradley, Coffee County, and Blackman is going home.
  14. 100-0. That would have been fun. Maybe next time.
  15. That is a bit of a stretch. Outside of Cleveland they haven't played any of the top 3A or 4A teams in TN. Knox Catholic should be a better game this time with their best player (Mains) back. I am not saying that BC isn't good because I have seen them play and they are very solid but that schedule....nope. Even CoachT says their opponents barely have a winning record (53%).
  16. They are definitely looking good. That win over Alcoa (regardless of the score) was a very good win. Alco has a very good team. Bearden's schedule is pretty weak overall but they are a good team for sure and have beaten everyone put in front of them. Thats all you can do this time of year. If they aren't on your schedule you can't beat them. I expect the Bulldogs to be back in the glass house this March. I like the way top of AAAA is looking right now. Should be some really good games in the Substate/Glass House. I don't see anyone that is standing out like Bearden did last year after their trip to Florida. But for sure there are some teams that are loaded with talent. Its going decided on who makes a run at the right time of year.
  17. Funny! Insert any coach's name in that statement and they would be better with a Sydney Mains on the court! Glad to see Sydney back out there again. I am sure she has been itching to get back on the court as well! Good luck the rest of the season!
  18. I didn’t say it didn’t happen. They should get a decent matchup in Final. But we are talking about a state champion caliber team. I wasn’t saying anything negative towards the team. They are very good. My point is what do they get out of those games? Let’s be real they better have higher goals than playing for a Franks trophy! They should be playing the best competition to get them ready for the journey ahead. Moving on….let’s see how this plays out.
  19. They didn't have problems scoring points. They had problems stopping the other team from scoring. If Reed was back, Powers wouldn't have had 35. I doubt they would have scored more than 74 pts regardless. As for the host, they didn't just give themselves an easy opening round. They put best 3 opponents in the opposite bracket. If your goal is to book some guaranteed wins and maybe a trophy then mission accomplished. If you goal is to be better at the end of the tournament then you likely achieved nothing. Duh...
  20. I really like Flemming! I have since the first time I saw her play in middle school. Getting Reed back will help WC but I think they just overlooked RBS in this game. Reed wouldn't be the one guarding Flemming anyway. And WC has plenty of posts. This is where I usually post my annual "Why does WC schedule itself with the weakest bracket every single year" post but by now its just normal to me so I won't mention it.
  21. It was a pretty good game. Both teams were trading baskets back in forth in several stretches of the game. Cavs shot lights out from 3PT (60%) but had way too many turnovers and missed FT. That allowed WC to stay in the game longer than they probably should have. But WC played really well. Winfree and Perkins always play well vs Cookeville and last night was no exception. An exciting week coming up for the Lady Cavs in the Nike Tournament of Champions (Arizona). Hopefully they have fun and show out a little too.
  22. That is a good win by Clarkrange. Van Buren still has Bouldon and she is very good. That district is going to be tough. I really like Pickett. They have size, a shooter, and very good PG who can do it all. And PC Freshman Nicholas may end up being the best of them all. Clay has some good size and really good guard play. I love Fleming from RBS but I am not sure who they lost last year and they have a new coach. But to be honest neither team really stands out that where I would say they will be #1. I think it will be very competitive and a war every night.
  23. I know people say they are down but when you look at the players they can definitely play. Good PG. Lots of shooters. Stowers is a great offensive player and will score a lot of points every game. Undersized in the paint, but aren’t they always? IMO the defensive end is where they are different than past teams. The speed and pressure defense they are known for isn't there yet. They seem a step slow. And that isn’t an easy fix. But I wouldn’t write them off.
  24. You are missing the point. I posted the comments that were made. None of which were justified. In regards to the schedule, we travel 2 hours (1hr both directions) EVERY district game we play. We played almost all of our games last year in Knoxville/Nashville areas. That's rough for fans and teams (imagine how early you leave for Eastern time zone game with a 2 hour drive). We did schedule a few of the 7AAA teams locally this season and I am glad. I mean they are the best AAA district in the state. Right? That's probably the most competitive games we could get in the mid TN area without traveling an hour. And we are playing Oakland, Blackman, Lipscomb, and York of which all of the teams were in the glass house last year. We also added Warren County which many expected to be one of the top AAAA teams in middle TN but haven't played that way of yet. I think we were scheduled to play like 8 games vs teams on the original Top 20 list. Take a look at our schedule and look at the ranked teams we play. Then take a look at other schedules and compare. The schedule speaks for itself but I would have loved to have seen us play CC and BC personally. As for the Blackman game, we just were not ready for that game as the first game of the season. We lost a starter with a season ending injury days before the game and we were playing more freshmen than planned really early in a huge game. They just weren't ready for that game and Blackman is too good of a team for that to happen. It was a very close game the first half and got away from them in the 3rd. The team that is playing now is no where near the team that showed up that night. I believe the rematch in Jan will be a battle for 4 qtrs but Blackman was by far the better team that night. But we have way too many tough games before then. Like tonight vs York which is a game that we could easily lose if we don't play our best.
