  1. I haven't said much on here in the last couple years but after tonight's game I have got to make some comments. First of all I would like to say congrats to the tigers for a 2-0 start. After last wks performance I think many people including myself was doubting Webb's squad. Well, tonight was a perfect example of the capabilities of the tigers. They have the talent to make some noise. They were picked to have a close call tonight and came out w/ a turnover on the first play but Webb got everything together and they played ball. Breazeale had a great night throwing 4 tds that I can think of maybe 5 im not sure. Rockwood hasn't thrown the ball that much ever I don't think. Not in webb's time anyway. He did an excellent job tonight on the sidelines and he realized that he had to throw it and thats why the outcome was so. I think if the tigers play the way they usually do and pound it all the time this game is different but Webb found air and took flight. He did an excellent job and so did the players w/ their play. Im not saying that the tigers will win all their games or even 7 games, im saying if they play the way the did tonight w/ the exception of about 4 plays then they can play w/ about anyone on the schedule. Good job to Webb and his coaching staff along w/ his players. Roberts is rep'n my #4 Good game boys
  2. OK my opinion dont matter to most but im giving it anyway... This should be a classic... These two teams will both be lookin for their first win and it wont be their last. Both teams have talent to make some noise this season. I dont know alot about the indians but i do know they will come out ready to play. From talkin to others and lookin at wat is posted, they will hit you in the mouth over and over again. Thats good b/c Rockwood does the same... I see the tigers pulling this one out by a couple TD's if not more. They have some of the biggest backs the indians will see all yr... The keys will be rockwood holding on to the ball and Oneida wrapping up.. thats going to be the diff... I dont see the Indians coming in the Jungle and winning though.. A tough place to play and Rockwood dont lose very often at home unless the opp. is just better and i am sure that the indians aren't a better team than the tigers!
  3. I have done posted my thoughts on the grace-wartburg game on the other post but as for the Harriman-OS game, should be a great one. Harriman is prob. one of the most athletic teams in A basketball if you think about it. They actually dont match up to bad w/ OS but I think OS will have trouble matching up w/ Harriman. OS's PG is a good ball player but very undersized and will be taken advantage of. It does not matter who he is on, I see harriman posting him up. I see this coming down to the wire unless OS goes zone for 1 night. If they go zone they will pull this one out. Harriman will come out ready to play but I see OS going zone and making Harriman prove they can hit the outside shot which they struggle w/. OS w/ the W and schultz has a quite but good night w/ 20 or so.
  4. This should be a great game. Everyone is talking about the way wartburgs big men will dominate, well if you think about it, they both have huge advantages b/c grace cant match up inside and wartburg cant match up outside. Pridemore is an excellent PG and will get Bunch in foul trouble if the refs call the hand check. Travis Nelson is also going to be a key b/c he can knock down so huge shots as he did the other night to open the game against Rockwood, but i think he will also gaurd Slusher who will have several inches on him and prob. post up. If that is the case then that will put Winstead on Wanamaker or Lipps. That match-up is a rough one for both teams. Im predicting pridemore comes out of the shadows of slusher tonight and stills the show. He is the X-factor. He will take care of the ball and cause wartburg to get into foul trouble b/c the only person on the floor for wartburg who can gaurd him in my opinion is travis nelson which leaves who on slusher? Grace by 7. Pridemore shines.
  5. I was at the game the other night between Coalfield and Hampton and in my opinion neither team is worthy of a state title and Hampton fans will see that after FC. Hampton played a great football game dont get me wrong and Coalfield didn't play so well but the fact is neither team has what it takes for a state title. I was shocked w/ the turn-out Hampton had for the long road trip though. Great fans dont cover up for the lack of talent though. When hampton goes to FC come fri. night the best thing they will hear is the horn to go home b/c its going to be a long night. BD is a ballplayer... not the best in the world but very few teams wouldn't take him.
  6. What happend to Harriman at Hampton... There is no way they are that good b/c if so they'd be in state championship talk.
  7. CoachLogan, the last I checked out of the 4 teams you named that play "smash mouth" football... you took a beatin by them... w/ the exception of ashville, nc... they are prob. the wartburg's and oakdale's around here though. Point being when someone hits CAK in the mouth they just sit there and take it... I see Rockwood hitting them in the mouth all night long and CAK will go back to knoxville having to find a way to beat sweetwater which they won't be able to do... CAK's hopes of a postseason playoff birth is slowly being shuffed down their throats Rockwood rolls 34-14.
  8. Hey pujo, I agree... i was just giving a opinion though.. honestly i think these three teams are in the top 5 in ea. tn whether they are or not idk... Harriman has more athletes then some two and three A schools in the state... They have the ppl but can they make the plays... dont think so... as for coalfield idk much about... Davis is their horse.. you stop him they dont have much after that.. Gunter in overrated... Midway is going to play for four qrts so you gotta be ready for them... i agree w/ ya though.. just my opinion
  9. You know its a shame that three of the top 5 teams in east tn in A ball are all in the same region and eventually they will just eliminate ea. other... Midway Coalfield and Harriman are all dangerous teams and should lead to some great playoff games.
  10. Why isn't anyone giving Rockwood much of a chance. CAK is a great program but at the same time if Rockwood just comes out and play like they can, they pound CAK to death. CAK has a good D but they haven't played a smash mouth football game yet. Coach webb will have the tigers ready for this game and the tigers know its a must win. Look for allen to have a huge game. Rockwood's sec. is a question but w/ PF last wk I think that helped out alot. Webber pounds CAK to death and wins a big one. OO for the critics who say Webb's coaching is the problem, I didn't see any complaints two yrs ago when he had his tigers in the 3rd round and finished 11-2, the two being to the state champs... My words to you are either get on the wagon and stay or get off and keep your mouth shut. If you wana go back and forth go to Harriman or Kingston, we dont need ya in Rockwood.
  11. The best game I think I have seen in a long time was in 2004 when I made the drive to Rockwood. They played sweetwater and lathum was hard for the tigers to stop. The tigers were up in the 4th until lathum was found in the back of the endzone for 6 w/ right at 2 min. left. The tigers got the back and were struggling. QB Corey Payne threw up a prayer to Johnny Coaker on a 3rd and 18. He made the catch after it being tipped around and he was laying on his back. That then set up rockwood a 1st and 10. Then Coaker turned around and lined up in the wrong place as a reciever and caused sweetwater to have confusion and Payne found TE Peddicord naked at the 2. Rockwood went on to win the game and a great game it was.
  12. Just to let ya know SCW86, they will play a JV schedule for I think two yrs... its TSSAA rules... it may just be one though. As for the rivalry, it will be great for the county. I live in Roane County and the rivalries down here are great. It gives the county something to look foward to as a whole and not just city by city. I think its great that Stone is now up and running.. I wish them the best of luck.
  13. Yes, They did lose their coach but they brought another winning coach in... They have plenty of talent and they have one of the top coaches in the state but they also have alot of holes to feel ... i think they will lose two games... Maryville and the state championship against whoever the lucky one should be
  14. Rockwood and Harriman are the two left in district 3... thats no surprise... they are always the two ta beat.
  15. Rockwood football may be a little down to some ppl but considering two yrs ago they went like 11-2 and the only two loses came from the state champs... there is really not much room to go up... lol. Coach webb and his staff will have the tigers ready to play ball. He has got to find some players that wana play and get them going in the right direction. Dont be surprised for another 5-5 record this next season. Everyone goes through a rebuilding process sometime. This is rockwoods.. This next season though may be its last rebuilding season for a while. Hopefully it will anyway. The Senior leadership will be hard to find. It has been lacking since the crew of Corey, Ellery, Johnny, and that crew left. That was prob. one of webb's best crews when it came to working hard and never giving up. The tigers will be back though. Just give ole webb time.
  16. Hey boys and girls, dont give this one to the devils that easy now. Yea Rockwood didn't look all that great against Greenback but the point is they won. Not many teams in the state would look very good after coming off a lose like they did. This is a young scrappy bunch and if Rockwood takes the first game today... they take home the championship. Coach Lane is an excellent coach so dont be surprised when he rallies his troops for two wins tonight and if something happens and Rockwood cant pull them out... it will not be the first time nor the last time Lane and the tigers have to travel during tourney time. Good Luck tigers... OOO as for thomas... you pitch him inside... he's not gonna do anything... every homerun against rockwood has been down the pipe or outside... he cant hit one out on the inside part of the plate
  17. Dont count ur chickens before they hatch boys... what cosby has got to realize is yea they are a state championship team but it just takes one game where they aren't hitting from outside and they will take it to the house... if they aren't hitting it could be bad news for the eagles soaring... i'd like to see them do well but its bound to happen one night. State is a diff. gym than most are used to so idk if they will be able to shoot as well as normal... and plus they dont have the coaching... granted they have done well this season but in crunch time the only thing they can hope for is some luck... I hate to say it but coach flatford will be the blame of them not winning state... if they had him the job would get done but they dont... he is one of the best in E. Tn.. and will have carter doing well in no time. The blame shouldn't go to him but everyone will say once they get beat if flatford was here.. we would have won... good luck eagles....
  18. Wat about Talent from Maryville...i think he should be on the list.
  19. The best game would have to be last season in Rockwood. Sweetwater came to town and Dustin Lathum was dominating. Come 4th qrt. Rockwood was up, the teams swap punts and sweetwater had the ball 1st and goal w/ alittle over 2min. left. The tigers held until 4th down and thats when Dustin Lathum was found in the back of the endzone wide open. The tigers get the ball back w/ about a min. and a half left and on third and 15 Corey Payne found Johnny Coaker on a bomb but that wasn't it. Johnny was covered by two cats and he tips it twice falls and catches it while laying on his back for a first down. Then the tigers ran a play and called a timeout. The play after the timeout Johnny the lines up in the wrong spot but it confused the cats D and cause TE Zach Peddicord to come open at the one. The tigers then punched it in and made the comeback and a perfection of the 2 min. drill. Had to be there to see it.
  20. Hey Devils97... I dont think the injury will matter b/c its rockwood and kingston... you play rather its blood, pain, or tears. This is nothing but bragging rights and Rockwood has won them the last couple of years. Two years ago it was josh clark stealing the show w/ a couple of big runs. Johnny Coaker came up from corner and stopped chad johnson a yard short last yr to force kingston to fake a punt and come up short as well. The winner of this one will come down to who has the least amount of turnovers. Vic King's new offense is dangerous... but it works both ways. I think if Kingston's offense is clicking it will be tough for rockwood to hang in there but if kingston has two turnovers or more... rockwood wins... and if it comes down to the fourth qtr. Rockwood will take it b/c its in the jungle. Should be a good one come fri. night... im excited and i expect everyone else to be as well... But lets not forget about the family's south of us and please keep them in your prayers. Tigers- 20 Jackets- 18 Goose... What are you saying my man, b/c you kno Webber will be fired up.
  21. Couldn't say it better myself wpasi
  22. I think I can predict this one. I see Rockwood coming out and winning by 21 or so.... Coach Webb will have the little mistakes out of the way and the tigers will be ready to play football again. The Midway loss will end up helping in the long run b/c most teams dont see that kind of atmosphere until the last couple of weeks and playoff time... Rockwood has one step on everyone now... they have that experience come crunch time.... it may not matter in some... but wartburg is next on the schedule so thats all that matters now. Come-on Tigers ... put ur heads on straight and take it one wk at a time... Tigers Big in morgan county fri.
  23. Both teams earned respect tonight. Midway played well the whole night... as for Rockwood ... if they didn't have respect for someone there last night... they do now. Coach Webb had his team prepared and ready but like someone said... he cant carry and catch for them. Little mistakes early bit rockwood late... At 23-7 with alittle over 6 min. left... Rockwood could have packed there bags and left... they didn't though... they faught for there lives... yea they came up short but they got some good stuff out of this one and look for the tigers to do well this season... Good game to both teams. And as for Coach Webb he's a soldier... and his troops will be ready to put a thumping on the dogs of morgan county.
  24. I played for Rockwood last yr as a senior and Alcoa was tough... i kno nothing about Maryville...but i do kno there will be a great game at Goddard field tonight and i will be there watching... Idk if Alcoa can win but that is why i will be there tonight...but the last I heard.... the rebel flag will waive no more after tonight.... Getter done Alcoa
  25. When Harriman finds an answer to chad johnson someone tell me ... until then.. Kingston big.
