  1. Sure hope y’all are right. HVA has been playing much improved the last couple weeks and they often seem to save their best work for Farragut. It would be wise for Farragut to stay on their toes with the Hawks no matter what the situation seems .
  2. I would still be surprised if HVA pulls out a win but it may be better than I’d have thought last week. Interestingly, their freshman team has put together some nice wins. I know it doesn’t always translate like that, but maybe a good sign of brighter days coming!
  3. I don’t think so. I’d love to see it but at this point I think bearden probably has a better shot at coming out with a W tonight than HVA. Hawks still need a little time.
  4. I feel like we will know a bit more about Bearden after this game. No doubt maryville will win but I’m very curious to see how the bulldogs compete.
  5. Oh lord I just got the joke . I answered that like a serious question lol. Kinda thought it was a strange question but was like hmmm okay…I see where you are going now!
  6. If bearden barely cleared oak ridge, I don’t think they are likely to beat Maryville. That being said, I’m impressed with their improvements and they play tough. I’m interested to see how their defense performs.
  7. I mean…if he can run, and the line is half way decent we might have trouble with him. Stopping the run has been rough for us. It was a little better last week so we shall see if improvement continues.
  8. I feel like Cleveland had a really nice RB last year that killed us. Can't remember his name but gosh I hope he's graduated.
  9. Anyone have any thoughts, keys to the game or opinions about how this one will play out?
  10. I agree with you. I think we are so thin at O line right now tho, I just don’t see them taking any chances unless/until they have to. Sentell and Mohr are both awesome and could definitely be beneficial- I agree.
  11. Agreed. For the amount of mistakes OR made, I wasn’t super impressed with the final score. I think OR defense definitely deserves some credit for why it wasn’t way worse. I feel like both teams are quality but I don’t think it’s either team’s best year. New QB’s, line issues…I did think OR’s run defense was impressive. I thought Farragut’s run defense still struggled some but was much improved and able to get stops when it counted. But yeah, assuming both teams get to playoffs- both will face better teams then they did last night. Then again, where you start isn’t always where you finish so hopefully improvements get made. For Farragut it comes down to line play and QB gaining enough experience to make the right decisions in high pressure situations. They’ve got to be able to consistently stop the run. If those things get shored up, we’d be in business.
  12. Regardless of the outcome, Oak Ridge is always a great atmosphere to play in.
  13. I enjoy when we pay at OR because it’s nice to park and walk across the street for dinner and dessert before the game. We usually go to Dean’s. So good.
  14. Our parent group has conflicting info on the time of the game. Some are saying 7:00 and others say OR always plays games at 7:30. Any OR friends know the actual start time?
  15. Sending prayers your way. I’m sorry to hear about your wife. Prayers for comfort and peace and for as much quality time together as you can get.
  16. it seems like both teams have similar o line issues.
  17. This game is almost always a good one. Last year was heart stopping that last two minutes. I don’t know much about OR this year. For Farragut, it comes down to defense and particularly whether the front 7 come to play or not. I feel like our DB’s are at least decent but it’s tough to say for sure because we haven’t been tested a ton in regards to a pass game and I feel like OR’s receivers are probably the among the best we’ll see all year. So Friday should be a test for them. Whoever’s lines do their jobs is going to be in the driver’s seat as both teams have good skill players. O line is not super consistent for us and from what I’ve heard its the same for OR. Both teams maybe have some guys out in that department so hopefully everyone is back for Friday. Farragut’s pass game can be really good, IF the O line gives QB time. Farragut’s D line has struggled with the run game. Both teams’ QB’s seem kinda green but capable so QB decision making will play a role and both O lines will really need to protect their guy. Basically it’s a winnable game for either team. We’ll just have to see who shows up healthy and ready to play and who makes the least mistakes. Farragut needs to clean up some in the needless penalty dept. This is one of those rivalries where nothing shocks me. A close game, a lopsided game either way, literally anything can happen. If I had to bet though, I’d bet on a close one.
  18. Agreed. I think they will see gains and improvements this year but those won’t translate to the scoreboard just yet.
  19. Farragut played at Fulton last year. I thought it was a great atmosphere. Their players, parents and fans were awesome. Very friendly and welcoming. We didn’t get the win but it was definitely one of the better places to play as a visitor.
  20. For sure they played a lights out second half. But to have a shot at Maryville they will need to play the whole game that way. If they can get 4 quarters like their last two, I agree it could be a great game.
  21. What I’m saying is that face to face most of us choose our words more carefully and are a little bit kinder. It’s more difficult to say mean things while standing next to the person those words affect when you are able to see the effect it has on them. I don’t actually believe that calling a kid the worst QB in the state is the same as a website posting stats. When I see stats that show incompletions , sacks, interceptions (on any team this isn’t OR specific) sure I see that the pass game isn’t going well, but hey perhaps the O line isn’t doing so great, maybe the receivers share some blame but calling someone out as the worse QB in the state pins all the responsibility on him. It’s making it personally specific to him, and that’s the difference. He’s the QB1 presumably because the staff feels that he’s the best option the team has. I’d imagine if they had someone they thought was better, that guy would be out there. So when people get down on him, and talk him down, it just serves to shake his confidence and potentially make matters worse. I get the frustrations. My team had so many WTH moments last Friday. QB, d line, o line, special teams…pretty much everyone except our RB. It’s totally possible to criticize bad plays and bad decisions without tearing down a kid.
