  1. Haha That was a write up by a local sports editor. Not bad picking 2 out of 3 and he nailed the Cascade- Richland game. Forrest's defense and special teams or Summertown's offense and special teams however you look at it accounted for 14 points for Forrest. If the Summertown QB can make two passes their offense would have gotten close to 21 points. I know what the saying is about IFS though.
  2. The region of parity is starting to get some clarity in their playoff seedings. Every team except Cascade has a tough non region game this week. Region championship will most likely be decided next week when Forrest visits Cascade. Forrest had the best showing of week 5. Richland lost another region heartbreaker to drop to 0-2. Mt. Pleasant continues to improve. Week 5 REGION GAMES #1 Cascade (2-0) vs Community #2 Forrest (2-0) vs Marion County #3 Mt. Pleasant (1-1) vs Columbia Central #4 Summertown (1-1) OFF #5 Loretto (0-2) vs Lewis County #6 Richland (0-2) vs FACS
  3. This isn't 2018; they're back. Forrest only plays Marion when they are loaded.
  4. By MAURICE PATTON Main Street Maury Summertown (2-1, 1-0) at Forrest (3-1, 1-0): Since losing to rival Lawrence County, the Eagles have posted victories over Richland and Collinwood, but the Rockets are tough at home. Forrest relies on its defense, having allowed just 30 total points thus far with recent wins over league foe Loretto and at Moore County. If they can clamp down on Summertown RB Javen Edmiston, it’ll go a long way in deciding this Region 5-2A matchup. Summertown 21, Forrest 16. Mt. Pleasant (1-2, 0-1) at Loretto (2-2, 0-1): The Tigers come off an open date and a loss to Region 5-2A foe Cascade over the past two weeks, but should be getting some reinforcements in time for their matchup with the Mustangs -- the only team Mt. Pleasant defeated in a 1-8 campaign a year ago. If the ground game shows up to balance QB Nick Brown and WRs Jeffrey Williamson and Demarkus Brown, the Tigers could even their overall and league record. Loretto has been a run-first attack behind RB Caden Porter, who scored four touchdowns and finished with 205 yards in a 41-14 Week 4 win over visiting Wayne County. Mt. Pleasant 31, Loretto 27. Cascade (4-0, 1-0) at Richland (1-2, 0-1): After a bit of a shocker last week, the host Raiders eye another against a physical Cascade squad that isn’t pretty but is effective behind QB Ryan Inmon. The Champions downed Huntland 28-17 in Week 4 -- their lone home game over a stretch of five, following wins at Mt. Pleasant and Cannon County, with a trip to Community looming next week. Richland thumped Hickman County 42-7 after a narrow Region 5-2A loss at Summertown in Week 3, as QB Bryce Miller and WR Ethan Workman hooked up for a 75-yard TD pass to highlight a 21-point opening period. Big plays may be necessary again to offset Cascade’s grind-it-out offensive approach. Cascade 20, Richland 14.
  5. I watched them in person scrimmage Eagleville and on NFHS against Moore County. Very physical team with several guys contributing on offense. Only knock is strength of schedule right now. On a side note Forrest travels to Marion County the week before this game while Cascade plays Community. I would not have scheduled MC the week before a big region game.
  6. Add cancelling the Marion County game to the list of dirty deeds. They had a competent guy on the staff who wanted the job but went with the shiny object.
  7. Region teams took care of business this week against weak out of region opponents in week 4 action. Cascade 28-17 over Huntland. Forrest 21-7 over Moore County. Mt Pleasant -Bye Summertown 40-27 over Collinwood. Loretto 41-14 over Wayne County. Richland 42-7 over Hickman County. Week 5 REGION GAMES #1 Cascade (1-0) travels to #6 Richland (0-1) #2 Forrest (1-0) hosts #4 Summertown (1-0) #5 Loretto (0-1) hosts #3 Mt. Pleasant (0-1) The parity continues. No one will be over a TD favorite in any of these games and most would be pick ems. Expect the rankings to get turned upside down after Friday and tiebreakers start to get discussed.
  8. As advertised all 3 region contests went down to the wire. Still waiting on the first big win for this region against a quality non region opponent. 1. Cascade defeated #3 Mt Pleasant. 16-14 2. Forrest defeated #5 Loretto. 13-7 4. Summertown defeated 6. Richland. 15-10 This week. Cascade plays Huntland. Forrest travels to Moore County. Mt. Pleasant takes on Whitwell. Summertown vs Collinwood. Richland tries to get their first win against Hickman County. Loretto plays Wayne County.
  9. Finally, some action on this thread. I'll take Loretto, Cascade, and Richland in an upset tonight. I could go 0-3 as easily as 3-0 with these picks.
  10. Week 3 Preview and Rankings #1 - Cascade (2-0) visits #4 Mt. Pleasant (1-1) . Cascade defeated Cannon County 25-0. Mt. Pleasant defeated Scotts Hill 28-7. #2 - Loretto (1-1) visits #3 Forrest (1-1) . Loretto lost a shootout 45-38 to Lawrence County in a big rivalry game. Forrest lost a defensive struggle to cross county rival Cornersville 16-6. Forrest won last seasons game 18-7 at Loretto. #6 - Richland (0-1) visits #5 Summertown (0-2) . Both teams were off last week with a bye week and a Covid forfeit.
  11. Week 2 Preview and Rankings #1 - Cascade 1-0 vs Cannon County. Cascade defeated Moore County 29-14. Most impressive showing in the region. #2 - Loretto 1-0 vs 4A Lawrence County in a rivalry game. Loretto defeated Collinwood 7-6 in week one. #3 - Forrest 1-0 hosts Cornersville in an intra- county battle. The Rockets defeated Eagleville 14-0. #4 - Summertown 0-1 visits Wayne County after opening the season with a 16-12 loss to Lawrence Co. #5 - Mt. Pleasant 0-1 @ Scotts Hill. Week 1 loss to East Hickman 35-21. #6 - Richland 0-1 vs Zion Christian. Week 1 loss to Cornersville 31-7.
  12. If you twisted that comment into an attack on anyone you're a piece of work.
  13. After watching them both scrimmage I would give the edge to Forrest. Neither looked great but Forrest played against much better competition. Forrest should win comfortably.
  14. Rockvale won 20-0 in the first half in the starter's session. Rockvale started with a 20 play 80 yard drive. They converted three 4th downs and scored on 4th and goal. Their line mauled our defensive line and linebackers in unbalanced sets. Safeties made tons of tackles. Forrest was stopped on 4th and 2 at midfield after picking up two first downs. Rockvale had a long run and the Forrest defense was assessed a 15 yard penalty for illegal chop block. Rockvale punched it in for 13-0 lead. Forrest went no where on drive #2. After a great punt Rockvale went play action and hit a 80 yd bomb for the 20-0 lead. Forrest drove to the 25 yard line and threw an interception in the endzone on a jump ball. Best drive of the night saw a couple nice catches and a long QB run. Lot of work to do but Forrest should be ready for 1A and 2A competition after tough scrimmages against bigger schools.
  15. Forrest got pushed around by 6A Rockvale. Richland had a good showing vs Fayetteville . Summertown scrimmage was cancelled.
  16. Thanks. They did not have a good showing vs Cornersville in a scrimmage but they do have speed. I can also see Region 6 pulling off a playoff sweep this year or at least going 3-1 in round 1.
  17. Marion- Meigs and Watertown- Trousdale look to be the two premiere games in the East at this point.
  18. Volunteer High School in Tennessee on lockdown, no active shooter found, police say | Fox News
  19. Region 5 Jamborrees - Opponents TBD Mt. Pleasant @ Columbia Forrest @ Rockvale High Richland @ Giles Co Summertown, Lorretto and Cascade???
  20. Macon County is 4A and they have high expectations this year. Forrest takes on 6A Rockvale in this week's jamboree. Not afraid of bigger competition at least in the preseason.
  21. First two games are big if they lose to Eagleville and then get run over by Cornersville they may not get to 5. East Robertson has picked up a few athletes to go with both Groves kids so that game isn't a gimme. But looking at your schedule I can see 7 wins. I didn't watch it but was told the team held their own against a solid Macon County team in a scrimmage. New QB was accurate but the offensive and defensive lines got pushed around. Macon County will be as physical as anyone on your schedule.
  22. School district rule? That's stricter than TSSAA rule from 2020. That rule goes well beyond contact tracing.
  23. Great post. Your quote from the other's post is very telling. Two different political not medical beliefs at play. One side wants the freedom to choose what's best for their family. The other side wants the power to force their decisions on other families. "it's a choice I made for me and my family."
  24. That should be the question TSSAA is getting the answer to this fall?
