  1. What I am about to say comes from personal knowledge after being in the loop about what goes on at BA for over a decade now. Masters started changing around the 2013-2015 time frame, and this is reflected If you look back the pipeline of good players coming to BA in the middle school ranks. BA's teams during Cody's tenure after their last title in 2018 all progressively got worse talent wise. During this time starting around 2015 Masters began to worry about the public image of the school instead of upholding what traditionally made the school a great place. I know of several examples of instances of him going over the top with disciplinary actions on students, many of them even football players, all while being hypocritical and preaching about how BA is one big family and is a forgiving "christian" school. Stuff like this is why students and alumni staff started to leave BA in droves. For all of this to be fixed Masters has to leave. Him growing up in the middle of nowhere in the jungle as a missionaries kid gave him a very very skewed perspective of the world and this is one of the main reasons he has a hard time relating to many of the people at BA. Every single other D2 program during these last few years have expanded and BA has remained stagnant all while raising tuition. There are several fundamental problems at BA, but at the end of the day Masters is the cause of all of them
  2. I posted this quote on a D2 board two years ago and everything in this is true: "After browsing on T for a while, I saw this post and felt compelled to make an account. I have been in the loop about what goes on at BA on the inside for over 10 years now for various reasons. The reason that BA has had players transferring over the last few years, is that the administration/Board of Trustees and headmaster have decided to start moving the school in a way that will negatively affect the school going forward athletically, especially in football. The days of BA getting guys like King Dunlap, Derek Barnett, CJ Sanders, Jalen Ramsey, Ryan Carruthers, Brandon Adams, and the long list of current and former D1 explosive athletes, are likely over for BA, at least for the foreseeable future. This started right before Ralph Potter left, but really ramped up when Coach Ab and Coach Pittman left the school, and the team is just now feeling the affects of this as it takes several seasons before these effects hit. The great teams BA had from 2015-2018 and even before that were essentially guys that came in from the UNA/Brentwood Blaze pipeline and mostly mix of working class families and wealthy families. BA recently has started to stray away from that among other things, and has led to things such as losing to CPA and Briarcrest, as well as not making playoffs in 2019. None of those things were even a possibility in previous years at the school simply due to the talent level alone on the team and other things". On top of what is mentioned in previous post, there is several more examples in last yr or two. This season is embarrassing for a program of that caliber, and Kurt Masters has lost the school and BOT. The decline of the program started almost a decade ago with several of the key pieces to the staff leaving. IK many alumni that are upset at the result of hiring a sub-par out of state coach that has no idea what he got himself into. At the end of the day there is absolutely no excuse for losing to who they have lost too and being 1-4 on top of having a legitimate 5 star qb and several other high level players. The headmaster of this school and his pride will be the downfall of this program if something does not change and soon!!
  3. That schedule is essentially what the average dominant D2 team plays every year lol. Especially during the hey day of D2 reigning supreme in TN from early 2000's to around 2018-2019.
  4. Could be similar to when BA beat MBA in 2015 reg season 48-14 and then in state game it was 56-55 and took it to the very last play for BA to win in double ot or the Baylor Ensworth games of 2011. In D2 the talent level is so high that generally anything can happen in any game. I think LA should win but would not be surprised if its close.
  5. Most people in TN don't understand this my man. The days of coaches making 40-50k and still expecting to teach classes and having an elite football program are over, and until the state catches up, we will be behind other states in the aspect of football on the national level
  6. Tn used to get that easily for title games back in the day and even big playoff games. For a variety of reasons such as more schools, different zones, more classes, pub/private split, that is not possible today, especially with the location of the title game in a non central location.
  7. In all reality no it does not. If we are going to be honest about this, the list of "best teams ever" would more than likely be absolutely dominated with D2 teams. 2008-2009 MUS, 2011-2013 ensworth, 2015-2017 BA, 1998-2000 MBA and that is just a few examples I can think of. Every single one of those teams more than likely beat any public team throughout TN history during their perspective run. Although I will say that within the last 4-5 years, the talent gap between public and private has shrunk significantly for several reasons, so I think going forward publics will have the potential to be just as dominant or even better than most privates. Another issue people do not realize teams since I would say about the mid to late 2000's are incredibly more athletically superior to teams of the past. Kids now are bigger, faster, stronger, and generally know the game and their assignments better bc of advancements in film study. Also, teams now are running concepts on both offense and defense that teams back then would more than likely have no way to defend as they would have never seen them before, or wouldn't be able to bc of lack of athletic ability.
  8. All rankings based on M@xpreps which is the most accurate ranking service 2008 MUS 13-0 #25 in nation 2009 MUS 13-0 #17 in nation 2011 Ensworth 12-1 #12 in nation 2012 Ensworth 13-0 #9 in nation 2015 BA 12-1 #32 in nation 2017 BA 12-0 #44 in nation 95 BA 15-0 96 BA 15-0 not sure on final rankings of them but I have always hear that they were top 10 in USA Today after going 30-0. Many people regard this team as best team in state history as they are reason for pub/private split. 2014 Maryville 15-0 #25 in nation 2013 Maryville 15-0 #28 in nation That's just 10 off the top of my head. I can name more as well if you want me to. The Cleveland team that year was solid and I know this because I have talked to someone who played against them in state game that yr, but to believe that they are best ever is simply foolish. Heck, there are even teams that have not won state that would more than likely beat them.
  9. I can think of at least 10 off the top of my head that would beat that team
  10. Never said that they can not win from behind, but it makes it much harder to do so when you have a running based offense like the wing T. One thing that has always been an advantage that Oakland has is that their defense has always been a top tier defense even back to Mcdaniel days and especially Creasy, and this allows them to primarily rely on run game. Although I would argue that the Air Raid, Run & Shoot, Veer & shoot, etc do not come from the wing t lineage, the way which teams play now and current athletic ability, there really is no "pure" offense anymore except in a few specific instances(think Mike Leach, June Jones, Rich Rod, etc). I will agree with you that Creasy has significantly diversified his offense since he came to Oakland, but he still loves that wing t lol. One point I will add is that at a certain point, you will eventually get beat if you do not have an advanced passing game. Oakland does not have to deal with this much as they are athletically superior to 99-100% of teams in TN, but once you meet someone who has as good or better athletes on defense then you will be forced to throw it. The best example of this I can think of to represent this for Oakland would be the 2016 Whitehaven game. I remember them just continually trying to pound the ball on Whitehaven that game and their defense did not budge bc they were incredibly talented that year, whereas if they had a better passing game then things more than likely would have went the other way.
  11. Lol are you being serious? Riverdale definitely had D1 talent during the 1990s. Also, the 2008-2009 MUS team, 2012 Ensworth, and 2015 and 2017 BA would absolutely beat this team. Oakland while a good team, has a mediocre pass game at best and undersized Oline and Dline. The wing t is a good offense but when you play a team with either an offense that can score quickly and make you have to match it, or a team with a superior Dline, then it struggles which is evident by the games Creasy has lost in the past, and this has been shown even this particular season to be an issue. Oakland will more than likely win state because of their outstanding skill players, but imo would have issues with several teams I listed, as well as even some this season
  12. This Oakland team is not even the best team in their schools recent history, let alone the state's history. 1995-1996 BA, 2008-2009 MUS, MBA late 90's early 2000s teams, 2012 Ensworth, 2015 BA, 2017 BA, 2014 Maryville, some of the late 2000's early 2010's Alcoa teams, and 1990's Riverdale teams, and that's just a few off the top of my head and theres many more I could name, all would beat this team by a substantial margin. Oakland's teams from 2015-2018 were all better than this team imo also.
  13. Imagine thinking Buck Fitz has a sizable impact on mid TN football.
  14. I think that this will be a very good game between two very good teams. I would give the slight edge to oakland but would not surprise me at all if cpa pulled it out due to Ingle's scheme and coaching. I say the score will be around 28-24 or 31-21 area either way

    D2 AAA

"Don't know the history" lol. I personally know dozens of former BA families and players, and I know exactly of the coach you are referring to. Also, BA was D2 while he was there and has been since it was created. If you want to get even more specific, then there was actually less players on the team from Nashville/Murfreesboro before D2 was a thing because before then they had a limited # of kids that could be on the team if they were receiving financial aid, whereas now it can be unlimited # of kids on financial aid. Every single D2 team gets players from outside their area, along with several public schools and this is a fact.

    D2 AAA

I can promise you that Cody certainly does not avoid playing anyone, even with a down team. Believe it or not the majority of families who move from other areas to go BA and that play sports come to BA on their own, BA does not go to them. I know this is the case for several players in the past. Any school within D2AAA and formerly D2AA, in a sense always "picks off" talent. Ensworth did it in Nashville and Murfreesboro for years, Baylor and McCallie do it in North Georgia/Atlanta area, and CBHS and MUS do it in NE Arkansas and North Memphis area. Even public schools do this, it is not just a private school phenomenon.

    D2 AAA

If that 2020 BA team could play any BA team from 2010-2018, they would lose by at least 3 tds easily. Also, if you look at their schedule they were sneaking by teams and not soundly beating really anyone.

    D2 AAA

This decision is not a good one. They are pushing away families that they used to be able to attract to go there and afford to go there, in favor of wealthier affluent families. BA is going the wrong direction and I know personally many alumni who are upset about this and will not send their children there going forward.

Also, imo Buck is not having that much of an effect on where these kids go. They want to play for a winning team and get exposure and not have to pay a lot of $$ for it, so they go to mainly public schools now or D2AA instead of D2AAA. I know for a fact that there were a few guys that were former BA players in last few years that went to NPA for training and Buck did not help any of them get offers, because they got them on their own. Private school coaches honestly do not care about things like NPA as they have a lot of things on their plate to deal with just at their own school, let alone a personal trainer
