  1. Great bunch of kids from Chester County. Well coached and some good looking players out there. They played a game that was really much closer than the score would let on. Good luck to the Eagles. Y'all build on what you got going.
  2. All too often we judge the success of a program by the numbers in the Win column. I'm not just saying this because I watch a lot of Vandy football, but when developing young adults into leaders a "W" isn't all that matters. It took me awhile to learn that. I wish Hardin County a better playoff experience this year than Tullahoma had with them last year.
  3. I saw from some of the final standings that, not counting Covid non-games, that several teams only had 9 games on their schedule and I think Chattanooga Central only had 8. Is some of this due to money and not being able to travel or just couldn't pick up a non-conference opponent or 2. I know Tullahoma had some expensive travel this season and next year ain't much better. We had 6 away games due to being in a new region. I always though everyone got 10 regular season games but I guess everyone doesn't always. Thoughts?
  4. Barion Brown -Pearl-Cohn. I know they played up to 4A this season. They still have 3A enrollment numbers. If it doesn't apply to 3A I was still impressed with what I saw out of him.
  5. Whichever one of us gets to go to Chattanooga and try on Greeneville will defiantly be the "best of the west" and the most battle tested team in 4A. There ain't no easy path to get through this westside bracket. Region 5-4A was just so full of contenders it ain't been easy. It is nice to be home as long as we can take care of business too.
  6. It was when he was the Tullahoma head coach back in the mid 80's. I was a know nothing freshman. I learned a lot that year.
  7. The season records are what they are. But after spending a year in Joe Gaddis fieldhouse I can't in good conscious bet against his team. Hoping they step it up on Friday and wish the old coach the best.
  8. None of the Tullahoma players were involved. Marshall County was fighting among their own team in the visitor locker room at halftime. I've seen teams fight each other several times but to fight your own team at halftime because you are losing the game. The coaches didn't have control of their team and should have just got on the bus after the locker room fight and went home. I wouldn't schedule them if they weren't region opponents. Just my 2 cents worth.
  9. I do hope Hardin County can win these first few rounds. I don't want to see the Marshall County kids come back to Tullahoma. last year during the playoffs they started fighting each other in the locker room at halftime. It delayed the second half almost 40 minutes and I thought they should have just got on the bus and went home. Maybe those kids at the middle of that behavior aren't there this year but even though they are 7-3 and this season it doesn't seem like a quality program IMHO. Winning isn't all you are judged by at this level. We beat them already this year and I would like to see another program challenge Tullahoma on the way to meet Greeneville. If Hardin County wins I'll sing their praises all the way to Chattanooga.
  10. I didn't know you could kick off 8 times in one quarter. Until I saw it happen.
  11. Tullahoma only had 2 non-region opponents this year. Both were 6A programs. The Wildcats handled those game from start to finish. They had 2 preseason games against a 5A and a 6A opponent and won those games 80-5. I think had Tullahoma been in the local 5A region or the local 6A region they would still be 10-0 and in the playoffs as a #1 seed. They may not be Oakland-Maryville good but they have proved to be better than the local 5A and 6A teams. No 4A team has had their success with the competition they have faced.
  12. I had never seen a team kickoff 8 times in the first quarter until last night. Everyone a touchback.
  13. Never seeing Chester county play one has to think that their record might represent the quality of the opponents that they have been through this season. 4 of their losses were to playoff bound teams with the Fayette-Ware game being a razor this decision. When faced with a stiffer opponent they didn't fare so well. Believing that Tullahoma is one of the more complete teams out there this season it should stand to reason that Chester County #1 that they have some players, #2 that they are use to putting up points #3 that maybe as the game wears on they run out gas or skilled players get tired as they grind it out. #4 I say this like most of the first place versus last place seeded games will end with the Wildcats on top. It might be close for a while but down the stretch the cats should prevail. When the Wildcats have a team stand up and get in the way this year they have had their share of problems, PC-24-21 and Marshall County 28-20. I hope these issues are behind them as I think they have improved since these games.
  14. I remember my last game like it was yesterday. It was an away game and we won. And someone paid for me and my teammates to get a Hamburger steak after the game that night. I have ate many steak dinners since that night in 1982 but none tasted that good. I have been wanting every since to pay that forward and I am about to get to. I have been to several hundreds games since then and know what it takes to get out there and make it happen. Good memories will carry you along way.
  15. I kind of wonder if Pearl-Cohn would have been better losing last night and remaining in the upper bracket with Tullahoma in the playoffs. By being the 2nd place team they should have to play Hardin County in Hardin County to move on. Not saying they can't do it but they were just a fumble away from winning in Tullahoma on the 9 yard line with enough time to get the winning score. In my opinion the easier path would lie in the upper bracket as the #3 seed. I think the Firebirds will take care of business in region 6 and work hard to get back to Tullahoma but that road looks harder going through Hardin County.
  16. I know as far as Tullahoma is concerned that the lack of a higher point total is a result of Pearl-Cohn and Marshall County not letting them score too many and in the other 7 games once the mercy clock was running they played a ton of sophomores and a few freshman in the second half of those 7 games. It wasn't about running up the score. If any points were scored above 35 it was from younger kids getting to play. But I like the chances of Tullahoma, Haywood or Hardin giving Greeneville a game they haven't seen the likes of this season.
  17. Strength + Success 1. Tullahoma 1.519 2. Greeneville 1.507 3. Haywood 1.460 4. Upperman 1.458 5. Elizabethton 1.429 6. Pearl Cohn 1.417 7. Hardin County 1.412 8. Montgomery Central 1.292 9. South Gibson 1.279 10. Carter 1.262
  18. The 1st season of the 2021-2023 reclassification and realignment is almost to a close. I say almost unless you're in the playoffs already. I was wondering what everyone thought about where your school found themselves this season. I'm from Tullahoma and we were placed in the western group of 4A schools this year. 5-4A to be exact. 9 teams are in that region this year. It should be 8 but one 3A team was allowed to play up a class. We are the second largest school in 4A and wished we could have played up as we only needed 25 kids to get to 5A. Despite being geographically the farthest east school of all the schools in the western districts in any class 1A thru 6A. The downside is the travel. The upside is we are the closest team to Chattanooga should that be in the cards. It has been a good season for up as we have found success in the region so far. Is travel distance the only factor that TSSAA uses to set a region up? We have one team on the Alabama border, Lawrenceburg and one on the Kentucky border, Montgomery Central. With $3+ dollar gas getting around to our games has been costly. It seems we are stuck here for 2 more seasons so we will struggle on no matter the cost.
