  1. An unsung hero (Brigance) set the all-time tournament record of shooting percentage in a state tourney. What was special about that was the lady that held in from a 1980 state champion team was there. No one even knew about it until the announcer said it after the game. Jada said on the radio after the game, the Gibson County loss is what refocused WV and the GC (no fear and a lot of talent) & Huntingdon (big size and and a lot of talent) games were the toughest for us this year when I look back on the season and the matchups. There's no doubt in my mind that Hart wiill be the frontrunner in 2A next year for Ms. Basketball and we've got some holes to fill. It's been a great season and I'd expect GC or Huntingdon to be in the mix again next year and hopefully we'll be a lot better by the end of next season, then we are when we start out. WV has kids that will have to step up in a big way, but we've got a good program and some good young kids coming up to help out the ones still there.
  2. Great tourney for the West. Toughest area in the State to play week in and week out.
  3. Congrats to Bradley Central. You definitely have a special one in Fields. She was dominating and is one of those kids where you look up and she's got 20 (and you don't remember her getting them). BC is in for a fun 3 more years. I didn't know she was a freshman until your student section started cheering "she's a freshman" after the game. Impressive.
  4. Congrats to the Lady Rebels! Great game and awesome style of play. Great shooting night and it was fun to watch.
  5. Congratulations to McMinn Central on a great season; it was a very physical basketball game. Knowing they had beaten the 4A champs (Bradley Central, Alcoa, Gatlinburg-Pittman, and Gibson County).......I'm not going to lie, I was a little concerned because of their style. All 4 of those are some great programs. When the defensive adjustment was made at halftime on their #5 and #22, from the "casual" observer, I could feel the momentum swinging for WV. Jada didn't have her best shooting night on the driving shots, but her PG mode kicked in and I knew she'd handle the press and find the shooters. Good season and this class were very special over their time (123 wins and 8 losses). I don't think that will be matched at WV for a long time, if ever. Great season.
  6. Didn't see it in "live" mode. Congrats McMinn and GC on a good run to the final 4. I'll predict y'all are playing on Saturday next year if everyone stays healthy and keep developing.
  7. Maybe someday they'll institute a policy where they give each team at least 1 challenge and a video review. I don't usually call out "calls", but that was a game changer that shouldn't have happened.
  8. Everyone has a "1" on their team, but it takes a combination of 3 or more to win it all in the Glass House in all classifications. WV has a good combination of scorers & defenders, but they have to handle this upcoming game and that's where their energy will be focused for the next approximate hour. This popcorn and concession prices are ridiculous up here. WTH?
  9. Congrats to McMinn. You just beat a very good team in GC. Great Season Lady Pioneers and you'll be back in 2024, I'm extremely confident of that.
  10. Cmon GC.....reach back and pull out this win.
  11. We don't have the same amount of teams that play those sports and a lot of schools don't field two of those sports, because in the NW...we're kind of smaller than most in our classifications in most rural areas. We've taken some football golds & silvers over here as of late in 1A and 2A, but volleyball-golf-softball traditionally isn't as strong.
  12. That last free throw miss cost me my exact prediction....but I was close. lol
  13. Wouldn't be surprised if Mckenzie puts close to 85 on the board today. Just a different brand of basketball and the VB girls are playing hard, those 16 turnovers in the first half aren't helping them right now.
  14. There's no doubt, they'll be back there soon. With GC and Westview being moved back towards the West to face the Memphis (area) teams in the next alignment, that's going to open the door back up for an easier path. When you throw GC, WV, Huntingdon, Summertown and Loretto into a pile, whoever comes out is pretty stout. With Huntingdon in their transformation to a potential power status as well, that's a formidable group of teams playing for 2 spots.
  15. I wasn't that familiar with her until yesterday, but had heard a lot about her. I was impressed with her speed, driving ability, and floor vision. She's very talented and could handle the ball in a very hostile situation. She's a player.
  16. When Davis went down early in the season with her injury, I was taking Wayne County. With Davis back in and leading that team & the other girls having to step up in her absence, I'm not going against the MTSU signee or the Lady Rebels. I'm with you on that one. They look like Mckenzie of last year in the state tourney....and they didn't really score outside yesterday, but can run a slower team out of the gym if they can't handle the pressure.
  17. ...and I quote (myself)....Wayne County and Mckenzie are the top two teams in 1A. So let it be written.....
  18. We were up top on the "concession" side and when we walked in, we at first thought York had brought the whole town and that was their student section, but then we could see the students in their SGHS apparel in sync with the York fans. I've witnessed WV cheering for our local teams when they're not playing us, but it's probably something new to SGHS so if they keep going...they'll figure it out. When teams realize supporting each other makes the whole region of the state stronger, they'll figure it out. It was a nice loud course of boos. I wished they'd stayed the whole game. I like that type of atmosphere and I know the players feed off it...especially ours.
  19. On a funny note, WV heard them too in warmups.....cheering for York. lol They (WV) were laughing about it during warmups, but I was glad to see them supporting SS before their game.
  20. No doubt. They've got a great program and are well-coached.
  21. The other picture is on Facebook from underneath the goal and captures them from the totally opposite side (the front). I don't usually blame the refs or expect them to be perfect, and I do see the girl's hand on top of the ball from this angle, but the other also shows the elbow clearly on Jada's head (not intentionally there, but it's clear). It still is a good pic from both angles and supports each other's debate. It was a good game.
  22. McKenzie by 12.......Go Lady Rebels!!! I know the WV faithful are pulling for you.
  23. That's right. Go Lady Pioneers!!!! We're on the same team tomorrow. lol
  24. Good post and accurate. I believe if the other 2 contributors were available, WV would be another level up as well...but WV is still pretty good and they had a bad shooting day today. 3rd worst shooting of the season by the stats (3 ball). York is very good, but I never thought WV would be intimidated or would fear playing them, so I didn't figure WV would get caught up in that. They've played too many good teams and powerhouses over the last few years. I've watched WV too many times and they just treat it as business as usual. Up here anything goes for sure. Hopefully, both GC and WV will handle business tomorrow and the West can go back 1 & 2 in 2A.....when it's said and done.
