  1. Clarksville at Hendersonville Rossview at Gallatin Beech at West Creek Pretty good chance Sumner County goes 3-0 this week
  2. For those interested Beech and Lebanon play for the 9th grade championship this Thursday. Both are 6-0. Other records that I could find. MJ 5-1 Hville 3-2 with 1 to go Green Hill 3-3 SC 2-4 WC 1-4 with 1 to go Gallatin 1-5
  3. Tough loss for the Commandos as they fall to Ravenwood 35-28. Couldn’t stop Chris Parson all night, he had an outstanding game. Commandos were led by Torin Baker with a career high 250 yds on 23 carries and 2 TD’s. Back to practice Monday and get ready for an improving Clarksville team.
  4. Stopping Wade will be difficult but the game definitely will be closer than people think. Watch out for Paige and Courtney on the jet sweep.
  5. Big test for the Commandos this week as they host #5 ranked Ravenwood. Commandos must find a way to limit Raptor QB Chris Parson who is a phenomenal talent and can make plays with his arm and his feet. Who wins?
  6. Big night for Torin Baker with 128 yds and 3 TD’s and Ellis Ellis with 116 yds, 2 TD’s and 2 picks on defense. Good plan by the coaching staff and good execution by the players.
  7. Big region game for the Commandos as they visit the Waveyard on Friday night. Gallatin is a difficult team to prepare for as they run a similar offense to what Army, Navy, and Air Force run. I believe the only time we have faced this is against Coach Pemberton at both Brentwood and Rhea County in scrimmages. They proved a couple of weeks ago against West Creek that they can be very explosive. They have a lot of speed on defense and have the 2 big defensive tackles clogging up the middle. In this series season records don’t mean anything, it’s Gallatin and Hendersonville.
  8. Congrats to the 4 former Commando coaches/players now on the staff at SC on their win tonight. DC Donny Lafleur, OC Kevin Stephens, and coaches Chris Bain and Sam Laws.
  9. Watched most of the game when the stream was working, pretty surprising result. Football games are won up front and SC won the battle on both sides.
  10. Since both are off on Oct 8 aren’t they playing? Back to Gallatin-SC, Gallatin wins 31-10. SC is a lot better but not on Gallatin’s level.
  11. First things first, Beech is a really good football team. I thought Hville’s offensive and defensive lines really played physical. Ellis, Baker, Carmean, and Brown ran hard. Manning made some good throws and good decisions. Great game plan by the coaches and well executed by the players. Overall great win for the program. Go Commandos!
  12. Real simple for Hville, they have to win up front. Beech’s defense has been outstanding, Hville offense has been up and down. Last week was pretty good against a good team. Ellis and Baker need to hit a few home runs.
  13. Just to set the record straight the first incident was between the 2 schools “war teams”. At Beech it is known as the Beech Patrol and at Hville known as the war team. The 2nd incident took place inside Beech High and involved Beech High students. All involved in both incidents should face discipline from the Sumner County BOE. I would suspect that The Director of schools DR Del Phillips has had a chat with Bob Cotter of HHS and Kenny Powell of Beech.
  14. I heard a slightly different version than that but no need to go into that. Since I know Coaches Crabtree and Beasley and know the kind of people they are I don’t anticipate any problems Friday night.
  15. Hville didn’t complete their schedule until late spring. Made a lot of phone calls that were either were not returned or said no thanks. We are a good program, not an Oakland or Maryville so I don’t get it. A lot of coaches now want those easy non region wins to please their fan bases. Amazing how some schools in a neighboring county that will remain nameless (Wilson) play cream puff schedules. I give Beech credit for playing a really tough schedule and heard that they had the same issue as us. Answer this question, how many ranked teams are those Wilson county teams playing? Zero is the answer. I looked at another website that shows strength of schedule and we were #2 in the state. In my opinion we get better by playing Oakland, South Warren, Ravenwood, Shelbyville, and Baylor. Throw in Beech and Gallatin and that means we have to be ready every week.
  16. 1 more thing to mention. Officials were excellent and the South Warren people were also. Was a little nervous about the officials in that Blackman got hosed at Bowling Green several years ago. Head referee must have had a date after the game, he was winding that clock as soon as the ball was set down. All in all good trip.
  17. What could help Hville is that MJ threw it a lot in the scrimmage, Blackman threw it almost every play in the scrimmage and last night South Warren threw it a lot. Commandos have faced a lot of passes in the last month. Not great against MJ, better against Blackman and so so last night. Can’t let Beech hit any home runs thru the air.
  18. Beech has 2 talented WR’s, a really good TE and 2 QB’s that can sling it. Their defense has been outstanding the first 2 weeks. For Hendersonville they need to play keep away. They ran for 280 yards last night, most of it in the 2nd half. That has to be their recipe for success.
  19. Memories of this rivalry For Beech RJ Meadows beat us 2 years in a row. Halfback pass in OT for a 36-35 win and then about a 60 yd TD catch with under a minute to go to win the next year. For Hville DJ Lefeve’s 50 yd punt return with under a minute to go for a 12-7 Commando win over a Kenta Sadler-David Corlew led Buc team and then DT Cayman Russell stopping Travis Haymer on the goal line to preserve a Commando win. This shows that I am really old. On a sad note I also remember the year that Buc kicker Nathan Johnson lost his life in an automobile accident. Kind of put the rivalry in perspective. Looking for a good hard fought clean game.
