  1. Wave up 28-14 with under 4 minutes to go. 2 touchdown passes in the 2nd half, the last one to a wide open tight end McKoin. Trying to get a Beech score.
  2. Hville fan here with my observation. 1. Mt Juliet, best offense I saw all year. 2. Beech, very good on defense. Not big, but they really run to the ball well. Aiello and Sites are big time players. 3. Mt Juliet athletically has the advantage. Beech is fundamentally very good. 4. Beech does not blow you away on offense but they make plays when they have to. I will take Mt Juliet only because they are playing at home. 24-17 I think Gurichek to Cornelia will be the difference
  3. Hville wins 40-0. I don't think SC had more than 50 yards total offense. SC defense played well for a half and then Hville dominated the 2nd half.
  4. Shocking result tonight, Hville wins in OT on a 28 yard field goal by Richenberger 3-0. I caught the last 5 minutes on the radio, could not go to the game. I don't understand how we gain 470 yards against MJ and 37 points, 35 against Hunters Lane, and score 3 against a winless team. Obviously WC's defense showed up tonight. I guess we will take it and move on but need to play a lot better than this.
  5. Observations from the game tonight 1. Neither team was very good on defense 2. Reed Gurichek was outstanding 3. Hendersonville's running game after taking a week off was back tonight 4. Hendersonville's junior full back Whit Gray, sophomore running back LaDontez Bryant and junior QB Elijah Howell all had a ton of yards. 5. Chris Bazile had a great game for Mt Juliet 6. Very impressed with Mt Juliet's ball handling and their offense. The Bears did not throw much in the 2nd half due to the monsoon coming down. 7. I will say this and no one will believe it, Riverdale is the best team Hendersonville has played. Much better defensively than the others. They proved it tonight by beating Oakland.
  6. Commandos win 41-20. Lots of penalties, lots of injuries but still a dominant win. Starting Qb Elijah Howell did not play due to injury. Sophomore backup Hunter Brown started and threw for almost 200 yards before he was injured in the 3rd quarter. Jon Snavely stepped and finished the rest of the game. Lebanon's Qb threw for a lot of yards but Lebanon has no defense at all. I don't complain about officials much because I honestly believe most are out there doing their best and are competent. Tonight was a different story. Not good, linesman on our side must have a sore arm from throwing so many flags on Hville. I have been going to Hville games since the late 80's and have never seen 3 unsportsmanlike fouls called on the sideline. Hville was up 3-5 touchdowns all night and our coaching staff hardly ever says a word to an official but tonight was not good. On the injury side starting fullback Austin Harris did not play in the 2nd half, backup full back Whit Gray, starting running back Chris Moore, and backup QB Hunter Brown were all injured in the 2nd half. None appear serious so we should be in good shape for next week. If not mistaken Hunter Brown's hookup with Nigel Jones for a 90 yard touchdown pass in the 2nd quarter is a school record. Overall good job by the Commandos!
  7. Just like in most games over the years the Commandos did not have the best athletes on the field tonight but the coaching staff always gets the max out of the players. They made the plays when they had to. Good job Coach Hat, staff, and most importantly the players. I believe Riverdale will have a great year.

    Classless quote

Great year for both teams, I just think Kat ran out of gas at the end. She pitched a lot of innings this year. I hate it when someone gets on here and starts blaming an umpire, referee, etc. Both coaches are class people and I think I understand where Coach Woods was coming from. Don't deter from the great program Beech has by blaming someone else. They were incredible all year and just had a couple of games when they were not at their best and Riverdale was.
  9. Good job Panthers!! 1 win away from their first state tournament since the mid 80's. The Panthers went to the finals that year and lost to Chatt Central in the deciding game. Didn't Dusty play on that team? I remember Terry Harrington, Ronald Powers, Boo Scott coached by Sammy Fisher. I remember the game they won at David Lipscomb in the semi's weathering 2 home runs by Lipscomb catcher Mike Dugan who was on deck when the Panthers got that final out.
  10. I believe the year that Lang Wiseman and his brother Russell led Bolton to the state title they played Treadwell 5 times losing the first four then winning the one that counted. That was the year that legendary coach Joe Branch had passed away. I want to say late 80s maybe early 90's. I am really old.
  11. I was at the 3-A and the 4-A game. Same issue with the back judge in both games. On the 25 seconds they visibly count the last 5 seconds. In both games with different officials they had the fastest 5 second count I have ever seen. I am guessing 3.7 to 4.0 seconds. I don't know if it was the pressure of the game but boy there were quick with that count. In the Maryville game it didn't seem like Maryville ever got in rhythm with their play calling. On both of their trick plays on their final good drive that failed at about the 3 minute mark as soon as they lined up in the formation Hillsboro's sideline and players were all pointing so it appears they were ready for both of them. On the throwback screen to the QB the Maryville lineman out front missed Number 53 for Hillsboro and he made a great open field tackle. If the QB gets by him he gets at least 15 yards. On the 2nd trick play Hillsboro's end and linebacker stayed at home and did what they were supposed to. I thought the player running the fumble rooskie took off with it about 1 count too early. Very impressed with Eric Gordon for the Burros and Justin Smith for the Rebels.
  12. Congrats to the Pats!! You get the ball in a tie game with 6 minutes to go, drive almost 70 yards without even thinking about a pass. Oakland's O Line took over on the last drive and even with Franklin having 9 or 10 in the box got the job done. This is with the announcers on TV continually imploring them to throw the ball. Obviously Coach Mac knew what he was doing. That is as physical a drive in the clutch as I have seen in years. Coach Mac did say before the game it was physical vs. finesse.
  13. Beech will run it 80-85% of the time with Bobby Huey and Justin Allen. QB Matt Shanes is a decent passer, does not get a lot of chances. I expect this to be high scoring so maybe who has it last wins.
  14. I believe this group will decide the game. Franklin has a great offense and great defense. For Hville to win they have to be able to run the ball and keep it away from the rebels.
  15. If you have seen Zach Rogers from Lipscomb (UT recruit) play Hville uses Yazzie in a lot of the same ways. His punt return average was 21.5 per return before last night. He had the 80 yard return in the first quarter. On kickoff returns he is a shade over 30 per return. He has 32 catches for almost 600 yards for a team that only throws it about 10 times a game. They throw to him 4 to 5 times a game and manage to get him singled quite a bit. Last year he was a part time starter at corner and played some running back with only 1 touchdown. He was moved to split end in the spring and if you read the Hville football website it mentions he is expected to be a starter. Everyone knew there was some talent here but I don't think anyone expected him to be the difference maker he is. For whatever this is worth he is the best returner I have seen Hville have in the 21 years I have been watching them.
  16. I understand Hville will be probably a 3 Td underdog next week. Been the underdog all year what else is new. I know Franklin is as good or better as R'wood on offense and a whole lot better on defense. Must possess the ball, allow no big plays on defense and hope people keep kicking to Yazzie and playing him one on one.
  17. Yes it is, congrats to the Pats on their win. The last few minutes last night were hang on for your life. It was like the 7 on 7 passing league until R'wood got to around the 20. I wish they would show everyone the punt return Yazzie had, unbelievable. On the 80 yd TD pass he had it was 3rd and 14, they single covered him, unbelievable! Hville cannot play like this against Franklin and win. Must play a lot better on defense and possess the ball.
  18. final stats Ravenwood 444 total yards Hville 266 total yards (does not count Yazzie's 80 yd punt return and his 2 kickoff returns he almost broke) probably had 250 yards total Great game by Alex Williams of R'wood/ 292 yards running and passing/
  19. What a game!! Yazzie with an 80 yard punt return TD and a 78 yd pass from Hall. Ravenwood QB probably threw for over 300. Key play in the game, Ravenwood up 17-10 in the 3rd quarter, 4th and 1 from their own 45. They go for it, don't make it and the Commandos take it in for the score. For 3 quarters Ravenwood stopped H'ville cold inside the tackles. Hville was able to run it some in the 4th quarter. Hville stopped Ravenwood 3 times inside the 30 in the 4th quarter. WOW!!
  20. Are Holder and Woods good to go tomorrow night?
  21. Good, then we have a deal. I will meet you at Floyd Stadium first Saturday in December to watch the Patriots and Commandos play for all the marbles. Good luck to the Patriots.
  22. I would like that too! Hville had Kelly Hamilton at QB and Kenny Louallen at FB. Oakland had incredible speed and a QB who could throw it a mile. Were they not coached by Marty Euverard?
  23. Brentwood by at least 21. Terrance Davis is worth the price of admission but I don't think the Bears can stop B'wood often enough to make it close.
  24. No way this is a low scoring game. Based on the defenses of both I see it in the 30's. CHS might be a little more of a big play team but Gallatin will just beat to you death with that offensive line. By the way the Gallatin kicker was the best one I saw all year. 3 out of 4 kickoffs in the end zone against Hville and was making 45 yard field goals in the warm ups. Punter was good too, kicks it very high. Wave by 3.
  25. Here are some facts. Hville has faced the spread this year. They have chased Terrance Davis, Cody Matthews, etc. As far as the coaching staff Bruce Hatfield has been to the finals 2 times in 11 years and they have a veteran staff, Coach Griffith and Coach Bundy are Hville guys who have been on the staff over 10 years. Have they faced someone like coach Rector this year, no. Do I think they will spread Hville out and try to get mismatches like they did against Gallatin a couple of years ago, yes. I think the key is Hville's running game and the Yazzie factor. Everybody says they will stop him, Gallatin did not, Antioch did not, Hunters Lane did not. I have a lot of respect for RHS and Coach Rector but it is still obvious no one respects Hville. Look at the preseason ratings, look at the mid state top 10, look at the posts on this website. The 2001 team heard the same things, no athletes, no speed, no playmakers, old school coach. The Commandos will just go out Friday night and do the same thing they do every week, play hard and see what happens.
