  1. Congrats to Sean Russell and Baylor. Good hire and great guy!
  2. Not upset. Just disagree with your comment that you'd be surprised if anyone takes him. College athletics is not what it was in any sport anymore. Cody will be an asset to any program he chooses to attend. It also appears that several Iowa State guys are leaving...ever think something else might be going on? He also didn't enroll at Iowa because he had a history with Ferrari. There is always more to these situations and myself and Sturgill (unlike you it would appear) only want the best for Cody.
  3. Didn't Stephen Buchanan just become the first kid that AA'd for three different schools? College athletics is just different now. AND Cody has only been to ONE college, Iowa State. Committing is not the same as attending school. He has every right to look out for himself and his future. Wish him the absolute best. Some of you guys are nuts.
  4. I'm agreeing with you, Josh. My only thought is that a school can't let one parent dictate the hire. I'm not even suggesting that that is happening at all either. In fact, I'd imagine Baylor gets this right like they usually do. And because I've got friends over there and care about a lot of the kids, I hope they do. AND if it were McCallie going through this, I'm certain we would want to be involved in the process.
  5. Current kids on the roster will and should be part of the process. What you cannot do though is let a kid/parent dictate who the school should hire based on a threat that they'll leave if not.
  6. Pitts is definitely on that short list. No brainer and spent time there already. I thought you were implying Yost because of the Waddell connection
  7. @Mythoughts123 just said someone that coaches locally that didn't wrestle at Baylor but has ties to the school. Who else would he be talking about? Personally, I'd call Jordan Leen and make him say no 1000x before I called anyone else.
  8. How long is Joe going to want to coach though? Is Baylor looking for a temporary fix or long-term solution? Maybe Joe wants to coach for 15 more years but....???? I'm sure they will get someone great no matter what.
  9. No chance. Would be great hire imo and help them actually build something more sustainable with kids club, MS and High School program. Problem is I'm not sure they overlook that snafu he had a few years ago.
  10. hmmm.....you wouldn't be talking about a HC in blue would you?
  11. Netflix could possibly do a series on this thread alone. Whew
  12. It passed but not for athletics. That said, now every kid will have some mental health issue that wants to transfer but some how will get healed at their new school and rush for 450 yards, win a wrestling state title and run the 100 yard dash in 10 seconds flat.
  13. HA....Agree. Dylan and Cam are fun to watch and I'll bet that will be the final at 144. Cam is squirrelly! Also interested in semi-final at 165. Not sure Mason beats Titus twice but should be a fun one to watch. Team race will probably be between Baylor and FRyan. Not sure we can get it done this year as several of our guys that could have made finals are on the wrong side. Excited for it all though!
  14. Swann can't go 113. Descent won't allow it so he's locked in at 120 which is why its forcing Bond up. Gonna get that smoke from Mr. Lane. To your point though, I would LOVE to see Gobbel and Jax go at it.
  15. I'd imagine Workman drops to 113. He's undersized at 20 but not sure where he is at on his descent.
  16. Oh no....I saw Titus get upset against Butler. He spent too much time on top trying to turn him imo. Think Titus gets him in semis come state tournament time. Also, think at 165 Chancery has too much strength for any of them but we will see. Titus got him last year at 150 at McCallie but they never wrestled again.
  17. Hudson not wrestling 106 for Cleveland? For DII, the one I'm most excited to watch is Titus/Chancery at 165. Axel/Swann will be another barn burner and I think we see Bond lose his chance at a fourth state title at 126. Jaxon is just too much.
  18. Problem is you don't know how much movement there will be during the match. Is Hud wrestling? Is Chase back? Where is Blake? Does Villers bump up to wrestle Mattox or will Mattox weigh-in at 44? I would bet on one thing though, Tyson won't pin Gentle. Not taking Gentle by no means but would be shocked if he pins him. I'd love to see Jose/Axel, Chase/Jax, Kellen/Cainan, Dylan/Mattox, but I'm not sure we get any of them. Hopeful we at least get Kellen/Cainan.
  19. I'll give you this, you aren't afraid to go down with a sinking ship. Goodness. You said - "I see it as not having an opponent listed for the 5:50 start time" -- So does that mean that yesterday they drove to Signal and didn't wrestle anyone? Bottomline.....they've got lineup issues they're still working out, injuries that need healed up and they're still mad about last years state dual match with Ryan. And AGAIN....they called and cancelled the match. You don't cancel something that isn't happening. Come on Bob. Its time to wave the flag and move on brother.
  20. It's funny how many on here seem to think they know exactly what goes on. For clarity.... Villers was the last to join us at McCallie. I called him and told him we weren't moving to California and that we were going to put Cooper in at McCallie. Jason didn't recruit anyone. Lane was already coming and I called Chris Williams. We filled out our forms THEN were contacted by the administration/coaches....legally. Not sure that is always the case at other schools but whatever. Also, Jed is a baseball player that happened to have wrestled as a kid at LevelUp but had quit for a few years. He didn't even want to wrestle but you have to play a sport or club at McCallie. He was not "recruited". Dylan was at Fargo and will be again. I'm certain Axel and Jaxon and maybe a few others will be as well this year. There was also large group of us that was at Super32 this fall And come on man, Ryan was on the schedule. If they weren't, then why did they have to call and say...we aren't coming? HA. They may not have been on the schedule that you were sent over but they were in fact, scheduled. You don't cancel something that wasn't there to begin with. And since we don't know who you are, we can at least surmise that you are over the age of 45 with your Otis Campbell reference. That's a start
  21. THIS ^^^^ - The kids want to wrestle. They are the ones that suffer when this kinda stuff happens.
  22. DII - MBA moved to the west, as they should have been originally
  23. We see Cleveland on Jan. 17th this season. Should be a fun one but I suspect we are still outgunned this year. Just glad its happening and hopeful we can keep doing it
  24. Claiming Coop and Hudson??? Come on man
  25. Absolutely justified my friend! And that ref deserved it!! HA!
