  1. Can’t believe no one posted on this and gave this team the recognition they deserve! AAU team Tennessee went to Iowa and done what no other team had ever done and took down Iowa and the strength by holds in AAU nationals!!! Yes McCallie had a solid group of 8th graders and they showed up but we had an AAU team that wrestled their butt off and we didn’t just place in the top 5 … we won the whole dang thing! Yes the NHSCa’s were happening and that may have hurt but never once had TN ever won the national folkstyle duals national championship!! It was a team effort and some amazing young kids!!! We are not a fly over state any more… on a side note : we have any even better team for cadet National's team duals in Utah and have a chance to sweep both duals which would be unprecedented!!! However the funds aren’t there and USA isn’t in th position to help these kids get to utah as was AAU that got us to Iowa! Stay tuned for some oppertunities to help make a statement for Tn!!!
  2. By the way… did you know the Fowlers were big supports and members of that Blackmon program? This thread was about club and Blackmon had the numbers and doing good things!!!
  3. Why you being a jerk!!! My point was that Blackmon is also doing a really good thing as we’re not ever mentioned!!! That was my point and I Lord have mercy that I Post it and Cleveland was behind! Any person who follows wrestling and is in the AAU moment , knew that on Sunday that Cleveland was going to distance themself. My point was to bring Blackmon into the club debate because they actually have come out on top the last couple years!!! I can post the last couple years scores and break it down by each group for those years but that was never my intention! I wanted Blackmon to get the recognition they deserve as those folks have done work for years to get to this point and proud Soddy is back on track!! wr are all better when we have many good teams!!! congrats to Trey on the win and state championship today.
  4. I was certain as the Jrs took the mat, things would change and as the MS takes the mat tomorrow, it will expand. An exceptional group of kids. I was just recognizing Blackman as no o e gave them any love in earlier posts. Workman and the Blackman group have built something solid. Yes their numbers are big but that’s awesome and speaks volumes for their support and what they are doing to help make TN better. Good luck to Trey and the really great group of JRs y’all have!!!
  5. Once again the only time I may have ever been in a hospitality room at cleveland was back when Cleveland held the top 100 for the first time when the new gym was built. I have never been back there for a match when I was actually coaching since then. Been there 4 years ago when my son was a 4th grader for a middle school match and then last year for who’s #1 and that has been the only time I believe I have watched cleveland wrestle while at Cleveland and who’s #1 had various wrestlers across the state. Once again, I may not have had the best relations with Josh but no matter what you think, I pull for cleveland ad a whole u less it was against us “back in the buc days or vs Mccallie now”. When the conversation came up about K-12 programs today as the state was about to begin, I simple stated facts and didn’t even bring up Blackman has won. I did state they were leading and making a statement that Blackmon had put a lot of work in and should be recognized as a very good program.
  6. You indeed are not only a fool but ignorant!! Being dumb can be fixed but being ignorant can’t be repaired!!! For one….I have coached a lot and been apart of many programs but I was never once in Cleveland’s hospitality room and didn’t say that.. Was I extremely excited this year when Mccallie did the un-thinkable and beat cleveland in middle school in the duals that was overturned and then in conference by 1/2 point and it was without our four 8th graders that were doing high school…yes very excited!!! However you have no clue how much respect I have the program !! We have trained together for along time. Matter a fact, Matt and I were just n stage for the finals of Maddox youth nationals finals that Maddox dominated. I told him to go celebrate! He said “no way” not until Dylan gets his!!!!! So you have no clue. I do have passion and expierence in this sport. I actually moved to cleveland for short time in the event the wheels fell off at Boyd as Shane Turner left but it didn’t. We ended up leaving and not returning for other reasons. But you are a liar because I never went in a hospitality room and boasted I was there to see cleveland loose!!!
  7. That’s where you show your ignorance!! There was a time in which we were chasing cleveland down back in the Boyd days and AAU but those are long over and I have nothing but respect for the cleveland program. We train with them off and on I do not pull against them. Just because the score shows that Blackmon leads at this point, doesn’t mean I won’t be pulling g for tray, corderos , Maddox , Tracy , rock and several others!! You have no clue!!!
  8. Stop it man… no excuses!!!! Next year they won’t have a choice when it comes to middle school state duals!! But my point is…Blackman was not mentioned and they have a dang good k-12 program in Tn!! If they have more numbers then they must be doing something right!! Believe me …: I take nothing away from what Cleveland’s staff does but you started this as this Tx was going to start so as of now… Blackmon leads from tots, banter and midgets and you can’t even acknowledge them. Will cleveland probably pull away…I would expect it but k-5… Blackmon leads!
  9. May want to add Blackmon in as they are leading the AAU state as of 2:30 pm and 18 points ahead of Cleveland and rabbit trained is just 25 points back from Cleveland.
  10. I have never had a problem with you and think the world of your son!! Your comments in this post says all I need to know. Great response. I like the response and wrestling families are like no other!! it’s an amazing journey! Bettet enjoy the AAU years because it doesn’t last long and you blink and you only have 4 years left!!!!
  11. I have no issue with you at all. You stir the pot a lot and to me it’s no big deal. You are blue blooded but as your son progresses , you will learn that many of the battles you fight and pots you stir are irrelevant!
  12. Josh and I have had our differences during the AAU years but never once have I ever doubted his coaching , passion , work ethic and special ability to transition from the beginners to fine tuning the elite! But Josh also has surrounded himself with exceptional people that compliment the program! Joey Knox is an exceptional coach and as the high school coach gets over looked! He too developed talent as good as anyone. He is passionate and involved in the development and youth’s development also!! Matt High is also “ the man”he could be a head coach at most any school in Tn , Ga or anywhere! In my opinion Matt plays a huge roll in the program and is so humble and gets the job done. He is a key and back bone in the development of kids and cleveland also has others as well. The youth program is key in most programs and Cleveland has set the bar. Boskin worked his butt off and surrounded himself with the right people and that’s how things get built! I have major respect for them and the coaches they have assembled that will keep their dynasty rolling. Now if you take Knox, Boskin and High away then Rome could fall but until that happens!! They will be awesome and hope we get to keep wrestle them. They have the support , passionate coaches and facility as well as some passionate support. Then you have TBell that just wishes he had been Knox High and Boskin trained!!! lol
  13. Josh, How many txs have been to across this country that a last second decision happens to let a kid in? How often do kids not make weight at the higher level? How often is a 34 man bracket expanded to 35? Those are my points!! I didn’t even bring up what weights but there was little reason for Dylan to maintain weight when we certainly didn’t feel we had a chance. Dylan should have finished higher than 3rd and we don’t leave it up to other people! However he did lose to a 2 time state champ and another returning state champ. He did happen to beat the 138 state chAmp so we did feel we had some room for debate. Didn’t happen!!! Glad y’all got Hart in and was able to expand the bracket to 35. Dylan is up there watching and might make it in next year!! on to freestyle and grecco! Good luck to Hunter and bri g home the Gold!
  14. Kinda interesting 3 weights have a 35 man field when I read 34 was max.
