Middleton has new gym not as hot as the old one.

Before anyone gets upset I am not writing this to say the refs cause the loss. MASE has a very good team and they deserved to win the game. My question is does anyone know if the substate refs are usually that lax in calling fouls. There seemed to be many times fouls should have been called on both teams that weren't. I realize that you don't want every little touch or push called but to be fair to shooters it seems a foul should be called if your arm or hand is hit when shooting. Is this the norm at substste to just let everything go. Just wanted everyone's opinion.

You heard you didn't see. The calls were that way because Dresden couldn't keep up with our players and were hacking and reaching. They couldn't keep the ball long enough for us to foul them.

I am so tired of hearing how we need a new gym. We would love to have one and when any of you that complain can send money to our county to pay for it we will be glad to build one. Our girls fought hard tonight and using our gym and officials as an excuse is taking away from the talent and heart these girls give each game they play. Go Lady Tigers!!!

They beat Haywood County and Lausanne. Haywood is playing in substate in AA and Lausanne played in substate for Div. II. I guess Haywood doesn't count since they are from West Tennessee.

Who goes to Murfreesboro? Any ideas from someone who has seen both teams play?

Middleton won 81 to 65 over Carver.

Very proud for Coach Burkley and the Lady Tigers. Coach Burkley knows from experience how special it is to win this tournament. He won it when he played in high school for Middleton under Coach Day and now to have been able to win it as a Coach. He is a great coach and person. He has really brought the girl's basketball to a higher level at Middleton. Congratulations to Middleton.

I guess Middleton messed up the finals being two 7A schools. Go Lady Tigers!

They have three seniors, but they will still have Perry next year. She is a 6 ft. sophomore. She had to fill in for Faulkner when she went down and has done a great job. May not be as strong as this year but you never know.

I agree Middleton will not back down. Their Coach wouldn't allow them too. Wish all the teams good luck, but pulling for the Lady Tigers to get the win.

I think my post has been taken the wrong way about the behaviour. I think most fans in the heat of the game say and do things that are not appropriate. This will always be a part of the game. However, I was always taught to try and win with grace. I feel that we need to teach our children this as well. I agree with the previous post that this behaviour takes away from the great game that was played by Scotts Hill. I wish them well in the regionals and I know they will have the support of their fan base.

Well that explains everthing. If the principal can't even control his own child I guess he has no control over students. Our players don't get their feelings hurt over the chant. I was just saying it makes your fan base and team look very unsportsmanlike to have to lower theirselves to calling the other team losers. Our players can deal with it.

I agree that you have a right to celebrate your victory, but dumping water on a basketball court is carrying it a little to far. Do you not know that you only do that on football fields and baseball fields. Maybe your fans don't understand the difference between being outdoors and indoors. Also, calling the opposing team losers is a little classless don't you think. Have you ever heard the term sportsmanship. If you are good you don't have to be rude to the other team. You have a good team, but you are causing people to not like them because you have such bad sports in you fan base. I think your administration should try and get this under control before the next game.

I don't know what game you attended, but at the district championship in Middleton the Manassas girls language was horrible. I was able to hear the language that they spoke, not only to Middleton girls, but also to the refs. If that is good sportmanship maybe I don't know what sportmanship is about. Also, when they announced the all tournament teams, some of the Manassas girls refused to shake hands with the Middleton players. How can you call them good sports.

I don't know where you got the information that we play a cupcake schedule. We play AA and AAA schools. We have played and beat AA schools that are in the sub-state. I think you need to check your information before you start spouting off. Know your facts!!

I just want to let all the Adamsville fans know that stayed for the Middleton game last night that we appreciated your cheering. It was nice to see our old district rivals cheering for us. Your student section gave us great support and I loved your chants. Thanks and if your not busy Thursday we sure could use you for the Middle College game. Thanks again.

Don't put all Middleton fans in the same bracket. We love our basketball and the reason there is so much dislike between us and Lake County started last year when all they could do is make fun of our gym and school. We have no control over the size of our gym, and when someone puts down where you are from you automatically start talking smack. I'm not saying it was right, but your fans started it last year. We are very proud of our school and our team, and like everyone else want them to do good. We have never gotten any respect from the AP polls because we are a small town, and we feel like we have to proove ourselves over and over again. Congratulations on a great year and remember all Middleton fans are not bad.

I am really tired of hearing about the size of our gym. We have no control of what size building we play in. We would love to have a new gym but that is not up to us. We play in what is available. Just because our gym is smaller, we should not be punished if we win the Region to have to move it to another gym. The whole point of winning the Region is to have home court advantage. If you move it to another gym you would lose that. I think it is time you found something else to pick on about us than the the size of our gym.

I am not Mtown, but I will reply. The looks of your players have nothing to do with the comment. But when one of your players is making obsence gestures to the opposing crowd and another is mocking the crowd when he hits a shot I don't consider that very good sportsmanship. Your players need to play ball and ignore the crowd.
