  1. If you have not qualified for Southern's you have a very slim chance to play college tennis. You can't take your friends with you to cheer you on. Anybody who qualifies for Southern's is a better than average player. The only exception may be some of the kids from Georgia where they send 30-40 kids to Southerns because their enrollment is so large. The top players in Tennessee have competed very well with the top players from Georgia over the years.
  2. I don't think anyone should be allowed to talk smack unless you have qualified for Southerns at some point in your career. 90% of you guys will never be heard from this summer.
  3. You guys are thinking way too far in the future. You have already been challenged by Oakland and Siegel in the district. You were fortunate not to face Killian of Warren County. You better win the regular season because I don't think you have the pitching to win the district tournament. Your offense will have to carry you in the tournament.
  4. That means nothing. You could also say that Siegel has the edge because they scored more runs against Riverdale than Oakland did. But that also doesn't mean much.
  5. We are not talking about cheering on your teammates. We are talking about rehearsed cheerleading. There is no place for it in baseball. This is not softball. It's bush and it does not show class.
  6. What's up with the choreographed cheerleading in the Riverdale dugout? Play the game. If you want to be a cheerleader put on a skirt. Very bush league. I can't believe Coach Powers allows it. Winning is one thing. Winning with class is another.
  7. Riverdale 8 Siegel 4. Siegel jumped out early to take a 4-0 lead. Riverdale came back with 6 runs in the 3rd and added two more later. Roberts went the distance for Siegel, Choate gave way to Woods in the seventh.
  8. Not necessarily true. Strike out ratio is more important. The leadoff hitter gets more at bats than any other player during the course of a season. If I bat ten times and strike out once I would have a ten percent strike out ratio. If you bat 100 times and strike out 10 times you would have a strike out ratio of ten percent but you struck out 10 times as much as I did. Get it? Maybe you should stick to analyzing basketball.........much easier.
  9. You give Hawks way too much credit. He should have 4 or 5 titles. His players had great coaching before they came to Oakland. You can talk to anyone close to the program, former players, etc. and they will tell you that the guy does not know baseball. He may have other skills that play into the program's success but it is not his baseball knowledge that has made Oakland successful.
  10. Too much Oakland talk. They will not dominate this district.
  11. MTSU hosts a speed clinic this summer. Contact the athletic dept for details.
  12. What does this have to do with Baseball?
  13. I said big Hartness and Krikorian were locks. Go back and read it Hoolie. Obviously 'lil Hartness is not taking his tennis seriously these days. He has the talent and could move up quickly if gets serious. I have no idea who their #5 is and I assumed he was better then Siegel's #5. Anyway, it's time for the serious players to get busy as the Qualifying is coming up soon. You will never hear from some of these average players this summer.
  14. OK Hoolie. I didn't think Kyle could handle Hartness and I was right. I didn't think he could handle Mitchem and I am happy I was wrong. It was his toughest match and could have went either way. Other than saying that I did not think Kyle could handle Mitchem I have not questioned Kyle's ability. I called you out on a few of your ludicrous statements and you are trying to turn it into something it's not.
  15. Murfreesboro is the logical choice. A new Soccer complex is under construction and that was a major factor when the TSSAA decided on Memphis a few years ago. You have to get it out of Memphis. A bonehead decision and I think the TSSAA realizes it. As for Baseball, MTSU, Cumberland (in nearby Lebanon), Riverdale, Oakland (despite the seating capacity problem) are good fields. Grider Stadium in Tullahoma is not all it used to be. It is showing it's age.
  16. Sorry Hoolie. I think it is quite possible that Siegel loses every match against Brentwood. Should be a couple of good matches and a couple of blowouts. I do not think your number 4 is any match for lil' Hartness. Krikorian and big Hartness are locks.
  17. I don't think Kyle's game is ready for Mitchem. Hope I am wrong. The winner still has to get past Solarski who is a big and strong kid.
  18. This umpire was not qualified to call a regional game. The TSSAA has better umpires available for these games. A good umpire will miss no more than an average of 1 pitch an inning. He was well over that mark. But again..........it did not affect the outcome of this game.
  19. I can assure you that the pregame fielding drills had no effect on the game. As expected, Morris was on. 18 k's and no walks. Siegel committed 6 or 7 errors. Roberts pitched fairly well. Although it had no effect on the game........ the home plate umpire was terrible. It is very embarrassing for the TSSAA to put someone like this behind the plate for a Regional contest. He acted professional, dressed professional, but was fooled by Morris' pitches as bad as Siegel was. Generally speaking the umpiring has been very poor this year in my opinion.
  20. Bluetooth

    region 4 AAA

Morris is not the key to this game. The key is how well Siegel's pitcher performs and the Siegel defense. If Tullahoma does not score they cannot win. We all know what to expect from Morris. I predict it will be a low scoring game on both sides. I do not think Tullahoma's offense is anything to be afraid of. ........A walk, a bunt, and a single and Siegel could win the game.
  21. Football is once a week and on Friday night. You can sleep in on Saturday and there is probably less homework to do. Basketball is in a controlled environment and is more of a party for the fans. The excitement at a basketball game is in the stands, not on the court. Please don't tell me that a dunk is exciting. If you do you are easily entertained. Basketball is a race against the clock in most games. It is too easy to score. You can watch the last two minutes and not miss anything. It's a circus. The average person does not understand basesball and therefore does not want to watch it. You want to find out if a person is an athlete? Put a glove on their hand and throw some baseballs at them. Put a bat in their hand and see if they can hit a moving target. Basketball players are well conditioned but they are not better athletes. Nothing can test your athleticism like baseball.
  22. On paper it looks like Dobyns Bennett is the team to beat. Lot's of USTA experience in their line up.
  23. A 64 team bracket is more complicated than an 8 team bracket. My idea would put 7 with the 1 seed and 4 with the 2 seed. Finishing 4th out of 8 teams should not put you with the 1 seed. 1 vs 8 5 vs 7 2 vs 6 3 vs 4 You could also put 1,6,7 and 8 together and let 2,3,4 and 5 fight it out for a region birth.
  24. Jack Brickhouse. He called the Cubs games before Harry Carey and was far better than Harry. Anyone remember Jack? Hey Hey! I like McCarver. The average person has no idea what is going on in a baseball game and he tries to break it down for them.
  25. Exactly. The higher seeds should have the advantage so why do 4 and 5 play in the same bracket with 1........ and 6 and 7 play in the same bracket with 2?
