  1. Yea, I agree that CCHS might be mentally beat by West. They've had the game close both times, but then the bottom falls out. I think West pressing will hurt them badly as well. West is just a step above the rest. CCHS does have the size down low to play with them, if they'll work it in the post, slow down the game, and make the easy shots. I agree about Seymour. I've watched them play before, and the PG can play. She hustles, makes plays, and can shoot it. I think they could go for 3rd in the conference. Not having Slay could hurt however.
  2. Yea I wasn't sure if the gardner kid was coming back or not. What about the post player who started last year? He tore CCHS up everytime. Tee Howell is a good athlete so he can probably ball a lil too. How is South Doyle at basketball?
  3. Who all comes back for East this year? CCHS will be really small, but that really won't hurt too much in the IMAC because nobody really has any legit post threats anyway. CCHS has a a few good guards and wings. They lost a couple of players over the summer that would've been pretty key parts of the bench more than likely. They still have one of the top players in conference in Marcus Stewart, however. Ragan, Brooks, Haney, and Kates can all play. Chase Atkins and Heath Ford will probably contribute as well. They should be a top two/three team in the conference if they can run the ball and create turnovers. They may struggle in the half court without the big bodies and Luke Ottinger graduating will hurt as well. Cherokee, Jeff, and Seymour will probably round out the bottom. How does Sevier County look?
  4. Yea this one may go down as one of the most lopsided wins in recent memory. If Seymour wins 51-0, then SCHS should be AT LEAST favored by 60. This will be a challenging week for the kids. Keep fighting though because it will be a test of character. CCHS has drove the ball in the three games this year, but are stalling out once it gets in the red zone because of inexperience, lack of size/strength, and lack of playmakers to put the ball in the endzone. CCHS does have athletes like WP said, but if you would look at a photo of the basketball, football, and baseball team..you wont see hardly any faces on more than one team. The bad part of the thing is that most of the good athletes have left, graduated, or are graduating this year or next. Football isn't for everybody, but something needs to be done to bring these kids out and try to rebuild this thing. Hope the kids keep working hard and keep fighting because the schedule only gets harder...
  5. Well I think CCHS should be really really really nervous bout this one. If Sevier can beat DB, they are probably going to beat CCHS by at least 50. I would say SCHS 62 CCHS 6
  6. I meant the coaches were having hallucinations from the wacky weed and thought they were actually using a football. Haha, i just read it wrong. Idk about Davy Crockett looking like a college team against a middle school team though? They've improved, but not that much. I'd look for a 20 something point win... Now Mo West Mo East Sevier and Jeff may get ugly I'm afraid.
  7. No hallucinations on that one, it really happened. Unfortunate victims of bad hiring and bad coaching we were
  8. I would take DC by around 21. Crockett will more than likely have pretty good success running the ball. Haven't seen Crockett play this year, but they have been improving the last few years. I'll say DC 27 CCHS 6
  9. MO West will win the conference. They are just simply better than anybody else. They have players with more speed, skill, and athleticism that the rest. Cocke County will come in 2nd and probably hang with West in at least one game. They get Buda and Depew back for one more season with a solid surrounding cast. Seymour and Jeff will probably round out the top 4.
  10. Yea CCHS kept fighting the whole game. Turnovers just killed them everytime. If they keep the same heart and fight throughout the year, they can compete in a game or two. I was impressed with some of the offensive plays. Even noticed a hot route called in that got a first down after they saw something in the defense they had noticed on the film. It'll be hard to keep the drive however if the losses pile up. How's Seymour look this year? Any predictions on that game?
  11. Yea I saw that in the paper too and had to think about it for a min. I think it means they weren't going to beat themselves and that South Greene would have to just come out and be the better team.
  12. I think last year's CCHS team just lost the desire after four years of losing. Injuries to key guys on a very thin team also played a part. This year's team put in a lot of effort into the off-season, but the size, speed, and talent aren't going to be there. The offense system did look pretty good minus the turnovers. The South Greene QB has a good strong arm, but was basically playing 7 on 7 because I don't remember a pass rush all night...
  13. Not real familiar with the program this year, but just from being in Newport this summer it seems that Cocke County put in real effort this summer. First time in a long time that I've seen them out on the field and in the weight room in descent numbers. So I think they'll be in better shape and have more desire this year than the past couple of year. I haven't got to see South Greene since last year, but they looked pretty good then. I'll have to pick South Greene by about 14 because CCHS talent is actually down this year from past years.
  14. Looks about right..DB or Science Hill is going to make it out of this region. I think Cocke County may beat TN High which would change that bottom bracket.
  15. Mo West should come out of the top bracket. Greeneville probably gets by Science Hill. The winner of the CCHS and Tn High game will take that bracket. TN and CCHS could be a real toss up. CCHS has the home court advantage. Both teams are good, but CCHS has basically been imploding the last few weeks.
  16. CCHS didnt look ready to play from the warm-ups. Saturday afternoon game against a team they just ran out of the gym at home..didn't come out focused. Couldn't buy a free throw against Jeff. Yep, CCHS probably lucked out by losing to Jeff except for the fact that its a road game. Science Hill and DB are what sets the two regions apart. The other top IMAC teams are pretty much even with the Big 9. Any reports on the game last night??
  17. He's a heck of a player. Always kills CCHS inside. So what are the brackets gonna look like after tonight??
  18. I don't know what has gotten into the Lady Red either. They have just been sliding downhill for weeks now. West just seems to play their best ball against us. They play like a boy's team really. They can take people one on one off the dribble and either take it up or pull up for a jumper like many girls just can't do. This team has a real shot at state because they are almost unguardable . Can't focus on Hall all night because the others will make you pay. You're right about CCHS not wanting to run an offense. We have four six foot girls. West has one weakness really, their inside defense. We just simply refuse to take advantage of that. I have no idea why. We need to work in out of the post against Tennessee High and come together and play as a team, or the girls are probably done for the season.
  19. Well you know what they say, the hardest thing to do in sports is beat a team three times in a row. This will be the third game and both have been close till the 4th quarter when Mo West just pulled away very easily, which should be scary for the Lady Red. Big things to do for the Lady Red to win is just like was said earlier: finish around the basket which they didnt do in the home game against West, hit around 5 3pt's, and have all the hustle rebounds. Morgan or Allie one need to have a big scoring night for the girls to win this one. They have been playing their worst ball of the season down the stretch. Will they pull it together in tourny time or just continue to slide?? Hope all the fans come out to Jeff tonight to support the girls. Two top teams in the state battling for the conference tourny...won't always see this as a Cocke County fan.
  20. I'll have to take East by about ten. East should score in the post like they have been all year.
  21. Great atmosphere to the Jeff and Cocke County game. I'm not old enough to remember when the rivalry was really heated between us, but you can tell that people don' tlike each other in the stands lol. Congrats to Jeff for putting this run together. Came out of nowhere to do this thing on their homecourt. CCHS didn't come out focused and Jeff put some points on them thru three quarters. Congrats to the our boys for showing great heart in the fourth and made it a heck of a game. Bet they wish they wouldn't have overlooked Jeff at the start cuz I'm sure they wanted the home game, but maybe they can pull off some magic on the road. t's been a few days so I'm over the feelings about the game now, but officiating was bad once again. Didn't determine the outcome of the game, but they just miss obvious calls. We shot terrible free throws which is what costed us the game. On a side note, I think Jeff County has the stingiest rims around. Jeff County kids got em figured out tho lol.
  22. Bad way to end the season for them So looks like West against Lady Red for the conference. How's Depew doing??
  23. What was up with Jeff County this year?? Know they haven't been a real good team recently, but didnt have a conference win this year. Think the biggest school in the conference by a pretty descent margin could be more competitive than this.
  24. Looks like a good list to me...The girl from Jeff could be put on the second team with Fanney even tho they both play PG Any thoughts on the district tourny?? Any more news on Depew?
  25. Cocke County had a solid win over Heritage Friday. I look for East, Cocke County, Greeneville, and West to be the contenders. Think CCHS needs to start cutting down on the substitutions now that tournament time is here and find a regular rotation.
