  1. if cocke county controls the boards, doesn't turn the ball over, can penetrate the basket, have their posts dominate offensively, and knock down open shots they can win the game.....science hill is a fast athletic team that pressures the ball and dribble and penetrates really good so its going to be a struggle especially for the guards of cchs
  2. havent watched science hill play but sounds like they are a small, fast, athletic team that can pressure the ball very well cause turnovers and get on the fast break in bunches...seems like they are small in the post and cant shoot all that well so if cocke county puts it into a half court game and cuts the turnovers down it should be a close game....cocke county has the advantage with kelley and dockery inside as they have a big size advantage...keeping kelly out of foul trouble is key...marcus is a good young soph pg that should be able to handle the pressure but not real sure about the two backup guards and their ability to handle the pressure...good players but might struggle with the athleticism of the pressure....science hill most likely takes it unless kelley and glenn can take over....but good luck
  3. DB should take care of Greeneville by at least 10...GHS is a 2 man show with no height...the two players are really good but stop one and they are gonna struggle....any thought on the CCHS and Science Hill game?
  4. Cocke County should pull it out at home as long as they do not let East get hot from the 3 point line which could very well happen, and Cocke County keeps Travis Kelley out of foul trouble
  5. I think Cocke County and Greeneville both have good chances of winning...The other two games should be almost locks for the Big 9
  6. I think you have the boys/girls cocke county games wrong as far as home and away because the boys play at home on saturday and the girls i am pretty sure are traveling to science hill since they lost both games in the conference tourny
  7. I think it's only a minor upset. Cocke County has a very solid starting 5 with some talent off the bench, and Greeneville is a 2 man show with no inside game. Cocke County kept Gash out of his game for the most part and brought home the Win Any thought on the matchups coming up?
  8. IMAC is the worst conference in AAA and most good AA teams could come in and compete for a top 4 spot in the conference...Chuckey Doak is a lot better than years past but they still arent very good because they have not looked to good against some other good teams when i have went and watched them but still congrats on a great season and good luck in the postseason...Duncan doesnt just land transfers because of a reputation either...who wins between cchs and ghs tomorrow night?
  9. talent is gonna be way down this year and the coming years even from the past few years
  10. Hammonds would be a good choice his name was mentioned last time...anybody know any other candidates?
  11. I would take my chances wit Billybob covering him...but ur right Trey couldn't have stayed with him on a deep route....I definately would have loved to have played it tho to see how it would have went, but its never going to happen
  12. Cosby had Rone and the Lowe boys which would have gave us some problems, but we had Trey Lunsford who led the conference in picks back there and we have a much bigger lines on both sides of the ball...who was going to block Derek Ottinger and Chucki Hembree for Cosby? I played for the 06 team and it probably would have been a challenge, but I think that we were just too big and strong up front for that very small cosby team on the lines...they had a good run that year congrats to them
  13. anyone no where last year's 5 rivers all conference can be found cause i never could find it
  14. ha ha i just started rambling about all the problems here
  15. well cocke county could have won ball games the last few years....we beat and played very competitively in scrimmages with sullivan south, bearden, sullivan north, and red bank....the main problems are athletic director because he is terrible...feeder programs have also fallen off middle school team was pretty good the years i was around it but now they are struggling bad and the freshman team hasn't won in 3-4 years....coaching also hasn't been good...coach jones was a knowledgeable coach and we liked him but support for the program wasn't there so his desire faded fast in the last 2 years he was there and my junior year we ended with 28 players on a 4A high school team....coach crawford came in with a bad hiring because of the athletic director mt. juliet is a whole lot better with him not running the show it looks like...good guy and everything just not a good football coach....support for the program is there they just need results on the field....with all that said the talent coming up is not even close to what we had in my 4 years there...there's not going to be any speed or skill really except for a few players here and there who can really play and the line is going to get worse the best athletes won't play football because they don't won't to lose....if they get a coach that can garner support and get the best athletes to play then they can turn it around...we have had some talent in the last few years which could be seen in some of our scrimmage and jamboree performances but lack of support hurts....i hope they can get it turned around good luck to all you guys with the program now and in the future
  16. well i played there during his first year so ill compare what you have heard to what I know...we did go live in practice but the D was told to let us get a look so I guess it realyl wasn't going live, we did plently of tackling drills but it was mostly half speed technique stuff, and we did running in practice during camp at the first of the season but during the regular season we didn't do any extra conditioning.....coach styles was a coach at UT he came a year after i left so I dont know much about him but I kno that crawford doesn't take advice from other coaches....the part about the agility and condition guy is true which is sad cause that could help a lot...he is also a terrible playcaller and the other team can pretty much know what we are going to run and did in some games....with all the negative stuff said he does seem to care about the kids and helping them become better people but is just not a good coach and i wish we would have gotten at least a descent coach while I was there.....but good luck to all the current and future players at cocke county....and also put a whole lot more emphasis on freshman and jv because they have been terrible the last few years
  17. yea coach crawford is about being a good person and everything, but he just doesn't cut it as a coach bad playcalling and he can disrupt a staff and team
  18. yep WAY too many internal problems this year with the parents and players plus he just isn't a good football coach
  19. well davy crockett kept East closer than cocke county did but they lost to South Greene and to Volunteer so if cocke county were healthy and not having a lot of internal problems i would go with them, but I think it is a toss up just whoever comes to play and gets a break will win
  20. east will win cause cchs cant stop the run and cchs wont be able to move the ball because they most likely wont pass much at all and cchs line wont be able to run the ball on east and some of it is the zone blocking scheme but east will win fairly comfortably but not huge
  21. barb is basically right i was at the game and CC offensive line is one of the biggest in the conference but they were playing soft and were gettin beat by a much smaller greeneville d line, cc cant get anything done on offense bad play calling, bad execution, and bad field position. cchs defense has been really bad too so jeff county will handle cchs easily because cchs isnt the same type of team or program that was seen when the rivarly was taking place in the 70-90's, but if cchs plays hard and exectes you never know what can happen
  22. Greenville will spread it out and CCHS won't be able to stop the pass, and CCHS offense isn't good enought to come close to catching up so I'll say GHS 35 CCHS 7
  23. There is excitement for this season, we want to go out and show everybody that we are improving. Jordan has gotten stronger this offseason, he works hard everyday he goes to the weightroom and its showing.
  24. Workouts are going good from a player's point of view. Having around 40 up there working hard in the mornings is going to hopefully lead to better things for Cocke County this season. Being around the last two summers at Cocke County, summer participation was bad. Now we got a pretty good crowd up there at 7 in the morning ready to work and I hope it will lead to improvement this fall.
