  1. 250 pitch count is low for 45 ft. It could become more of a concern when they git older and move back to 60'6". By then their muscle memory is so over developed that the 12-6 curve ball bounces in front of the plate. Although that is a good thing with 2 strikes. Keep developing those young arms E5. The sport needs more dedicated coaches like you. When is your next book due out and what will it be called? Are you going have a book signing/training video giveaway this year at the Dixie Youth Sign up location like last time?
  2. Christian Brothers & Union City
  3. That's good to hear. I just heard that this past weekend. Who do they have pitching this year?
  4. Rumor has it that JCM isn't going to field a team this year. If that is the case, TCA & Madison will be above them. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  5. Sorry its taken me so long to answer E5, hope the damage is minimal. Been at a volleyball tourney this weekend in Huntsville, dang if I knew they were gonna use leather balls with air in them. We have been practicing with our medicine ball during the offseason. Needless to say, we had to hire a roofer to fix a few holes in the roof before they made us quit and go home....anyways, as for the swollen elbow. If you will take a toilet plunger and apply to the pitcher's off elbow, give it three or four good pulls, the swelling in his pitching elbow will go down....something to do with blood distribution, but that's for another class. Hope I'm not too late.
  6. WOW, per the below....Covington over Westview, Haywood over Westview, OCCHS over Westview......Guess I am gonna make my bold prediction and go out on a limb and pick USJ over Westview....I predict Freshman sensation, Adrian Sanders scores 18 and USJ wins by 3 for the Upset. VOREB, you better get to Jax early Thurs and get a good seat....wish I could be there. Go Lady Rebs.

    Sidewinder Help

Doesn't matter what glove hand your 1st baseman is if your pitcher also holds on the the ball too long when performing the blind spin on his pickoff move. Nailed our SS right betwixt the eyes. We are now working on the 1-6-3 pickoff move. Works pretty good now that our SS knows that the ball is actually coming to him. Also, found out in practice this week that our LH gloved OF can catch a fly ball just as good as a RH glove OF. We are now loaded in the OF position. Still looking for a good LH catcher though. Best of luck this yr to your son E5.

    Sidewinder Help

Slyder, pick me up if I have fallen off of my dugout perch, but didn't we help out E5 last year with all of our sidewinder techniques and advice? For the life of me, I also think he has had a left handed hindcatcher get hurt each of the last 3 years. His teams must reload with talent each year. Is he coaching a private school?
  9. Hey VO, you answered his question by stating the obvious. Playing their district schedule alone shows that they are not playing any podunk schedule. 13AA is loaded. There is no ducking anyone and they all beat up on each other.
  10. Finally, I have our schedule for the Jackson Jrs. 16 yr old #1 team: 1/14 Ice Breaker Tourney-Jonesboro, AR 1/20&21 Mid South Blast-Memphis, TN 2/10 Impact Tourney-Nashville, TN 2/24&25 NASA Tourney-Huntsville, AL 3/11 Perryville Invitational-Perryville, MO 3/24 Impact Tourney-Nashville, TN 4/07 Impact Tourney-Nashville, TN 4/15&16 Delta Regional Championships-Springdale, AR 4/21 Perryville Invitational-Perryville, MO This is #1 16yr old schedule only. Not for sure about the other Jackson Teams. Sorry that I don't have the actual names of some of the above tourneys. Due to change in occupation recently (unplanned of course due to corporate buyout), I have not been able to get to many of the workouts/practices, much less worry with a website. Hopefully, I will be able to make most of the above tourneys however and hope to meet some of you fellow CoachT'ers there.
  11. You opened up a "sports" magazine. I see no problem with TCA promoting their athletes and athletic facilities off in a "sports" magazine. Look in the Jackson Sun and you will see thier advertizements with pics of lower school kids, choir, classrooms etc. As for Coach Satterfield, everyone knows he dislikes the privates. Does it keep him from beating them a majority of the time? No. So obviously he is doing something right, you tell me what it is.
  12. I agree, but my question is this: What does the TSSAA think that they are accomplishing by this? If you are not playing, then you are practicing for 2 hours or so those days, so you are not "freeing up" time for the kids to do "other" things. I just don't get it.
  13. The Tennesseean says that schedule is reduced from 45 to 35, if that answers your question. Personally, I am not for sure, just going by their article.
  14. Kublah, I then remember a bunch of students from that same private school then showing up in their fancy suits and ties to return the favor. Don't remember any grown ups doing it though
  15. Hey, VG, how many years has JCM waited on public funding to renovate their facilities? To get upgrades, didn't the city finally turnover the day to day operations to Lane College in hopes it would be upgraded?
  16. My, my, my how time flies. Sorry for taking so long to get back in action here, but have had a serious illness in our family (major surgery to Father-in-Law) and also an untimely death (Father-in-Law's wife day after his surgery). Then Thanksgiving (had to remember what all I was thankful for after the previous week's events) decides to come along. Therefore, I have not been able to sit down with our coaches in Jackson to get all of our pertinent info. I do know the name of the club is "Jackson Jrs. " and we will have 15, 16 & 17 yr old teams this year. Hopefully when practice cranks back up this week I can get regrouped and get some info on here. Keep us in your prayers.
  17. Those same advantages that have helped them so much these last two years. Before I forget, Jaxman, good luck Friday. I'm cheering for ya'll and especially Clay, Greg and Seth.
  18. And then he goes out and kicks their butts on the field a majority of the times Laz. Sounds like good coaching to me, unless he is recruiting all of his players into that small community. Same for Coach Morris and Mansfield.
  19. I think the real story is going to be when he actually goes pro, what his giveback/involvement to the community/people that helped him is. That will show what impact the Tuohy's really had on this young man......Now, I have to go get the book and read it myself......or maybe it would make for a good Christmas present.
  20. Trousdale Co. does it year in and year out. What is their male enrollment on avg? Don't hear them crying about all of this. Maybe Coach Satterfield is a very good coach
  21. While my kids attend a rival private school in Jackson, I will be the first to say that Coach Stewart has done an excellent job this year handling "all" aspects of the JCS program. I also want to give a shout out to Seniors Seth Doyle, Greg Wood and Clay Fowler. I have followed your progress thru Dixie Youth baseball, thru Middle School sports and now concluding with High School. Fine young men with outstanding & supportive parents. It has been my pleasure to have had the opportunity to both coach you and admire your progession these last 5-6 years. Keep up the hard work and enjoy the moment. While fleeting, the memories last a lifetime. You have each earned it and deserve it. Count me as one of your fans!! Good luck Friday night!
  22. Not directed at you, just at this forum....Games over, let's move on to something else. It ain't gonna change!
  23. Hey BigG, hasn't this dead horse been beaten enough already? Let's move on people.
