  1. Why has it been so hard to find any district tournament information for softball or baseball? I know the Newport newspaper did a story on the tournament and wcrk.com has the schedule listed (thankfully) on their sports link. But, our district tournament's are just so poorly publicized......

Looks like Morristown's radio station is doing a pretty good job of keeping up with the baseball and softball IMAC standings. wcrk.com (click on "local sports")
  3. Looks like things are getting sorted out: Boys: Seeds: 1.) Morristown East 2.) and 3.) Greeneville / Cocke County TBD 4.) Cherokee 5.) Morristown West 6.) Jefferson County Girls: 1.) Morristown West 2.) and 3.) TBA Greeneville / Cocke County 4.) Jefferson County 5.) and 6.) TBA Morristown East / Cherokee Hoping for big crowds at Jefferson County for the Districts!!!
  4. Looks like tonight will go a long way towards sorting out the District Tournament seeding. Contrary to written reports, the Morristown East boys have not clinched the top seed yet. If they lose to Cherokee and Greeneville and Greeneville beats Cocke County and East, then both would be 8-2 in conference. The head to head would be even. Greeneville would get the top seed if Cherokee finishes in third place -with 6-4 record- because the Greene Devils would be 2-0 vs. Cherokee and East would be 1-1. Guess we'll see what happens. Should be a fun/competitive tournament in Jefferson County!
  5. Just wanted to let Chiefs fans know that Morristown East broadcasts their games on wcrk.com. Good luck the rest of the season!!! Scheduled for a 5:30 first pitch today (Thursday)
  6. A nice, tense ballgame for both teams at Burke Toney. Had a playoff atmosphere.According to WCRK Radio (East's broadcast team), the play-off scenario is this:Greeneville gets the top seed if they beat Crockett. West is the two seed unless they beat CockeCounty and Greeneville is upset by Crockett. East is the three seed if they beat Boone andCherokee knocks off Volunteer. East is the four seed if they beat Boone and Volunteer beatsCherokee. Good luck to Boone/East and Cherokee/Volunteer. What a night it will be next Friday.East/Boone loser is done. Cherokee/Volunteer loser is done.
  7. East beat Jeff Co. 12-5 Monday. Good to see Dickerson (on the mound) rebound after the Farragut game. He also drove in 4 runs. Man, East's lineup is loaded: Mosier, Morgan, Collins, Greene etc. Morgan especially has a sweet stroke. Jeff Co. is loaded too-anyone would love to have Long and Sherrod. Should be an interesting DH Tuesday at Frank Lorino Park.
  8. Bye bye Greeneville! BTW.......Bobby Rader is a bore. zzzzzzzzz. A couple of years at doing Carson Newman doesn't make one a quality announcer. Very few good announcers in IMAC (Morristown East, Cherokee - that's it)
  9. I'm one of the unlucky suckers who has to work tonight. I'll be tuned in to wcrk.com for the broadcast. Thank you, internet!
  10. Ouch, Mountain Lakes Conference. Those were your two best teams? Sounds like the blowhard Tri-Cities media spin machine was running full tilt this year. Thanks for the W's!!!!
  11. Here's what I'm thinking: Johnson County may have more offensive balance than any team East's D has seen this year (Carter and West may argue that). That will be a challenge. Johnson County's RB Jesse Atwood has been compared locally to McFall at Jeff Co. East had problems stopping him. A definite concern in my mind. But, East's run defense has come a long way since then. The Longhorns have been turnover prone - even when they win. Johnson County also has the long bus ride with a new collection of offensive players making their play-off debut (only 1 starter on Off. from last year). East has to jump on them early. East's offense will have a relatively dry field to get that speed going. But, Johnson Co. won't be wowed by their speed (having seen Sullivan South, Tenn High and Hampton). The Longhorns, though, give up 170yds. on the ground. East has not been held under 200 all season (if memory serves correct). Special Teams will be even. The Longhorns return game (statistically) is as dangerous as Terrell Dockery is for the Canes. My pick: East wins 27-20. Too many Seniors refusing to have their careers end early. Should be the best game of the 4. Hopefully the crowd is better than the Sullivan South play-off game at home in 2004. Go Canes!
  12. As far as Friday is concerned, just heard on WCRK that West worked out negotiations to play Friday at Carson Newman. East will be at Burke-Toney. Good luck to both teams!!!!
  13. As far as Friday is concerned, just heard on WCRK that West worked out negotiations to play Friday at Carson Newman. East will be at Burke-Toney. Good luck to both teams!!!!
  14. The game will be on Thursday if West decides to play at Burke-Toney (Morristown) and on Friday if West moves their game to Burke-Tarr (Carson Newman)
  15. East's radio station, WCRK, reporting that the game is on for tonight.
  16. At noon Friday, they'll decide if the game will be played Friday night or Saturday at 3pm. Either way, it will be at Burke-Toney.
  17. JTW was the Man that built EAST into the sports program that it WAS. The program has slipped under GJ. No one ever cared more about a school than JTW. It is a shame that he had to change counties in order to continue to care about sports and athletes. Sure that JeffCo is glad to have him. REMEBER THIS COMING FROM A TROJAN FAN ----- Don't know either man that well, but it's foolish to say that the sports program has taken a step backwards under GJ. The football team has won 12 games the past two years. East won a total of 9 football games from 1999 to 2002. The boys basketball team is one of the perennially underrated programs in East Tennessee - 40 wins the past two seasons! The 2005 baseball season was disjointed from the get-go. The 05-06 school year should be a banner one for boys b-ball and baseball. As for the comment that Palazolla-Franciso-Simpson should have been high recruits. I think that you're overrating the talent level this side of the state. The bottom line is that IMAC football is just not that good. Those guys showed good chemistry for one season. But, Palazolla-Simpson stood out because IMAC passing games are awful and DBs are undersized (Simpson-6'4''). Franciso benefitted from an offensive line system that is churning out 1,000 yard rushers once a year now (Span, Francisco, Russell). The 2003 Morristown West defense was one of the best defenses in the state that year - yet only Fanney generated much interest in big time recruiting. IMAC is not highly thought of by D-I schools and rightly so.
