  1. From one family of faith to another, please know that prayers and support are being offered from the Mustang community at David Lipscomb.
  2. Keep Kyle Lehning in mind from Lipscomb. He is only a sophomore. He has hit 11/12 this year with the only miss coming from the narrower college goal posts in Week Zero. Already has a 38 yard FG to his credit.
  3. Very competitive group of eight. Last year's tournament had 5 middle TN teams, two from the west and one from the east. This year it is 4 from middle, 3 from west and one from the east. Should be a solid weekend of basketball. Anybody know anything on the Stallions? Who all did they play in the sub-state and what was the championship game score? I assume that they also qualified for the 13U State. It should make a great tournament there too with them and the TN Bearcats. What happened to the Memphis Celtics? They started off the year strong. Did they stay at home for sub-state?
  4. Full Central South Sub-State Recap: Pool A 1. Tennessee Tigers 2-0 2. Tennessee Trojans 1-1 3. Cleveland All-Stars 0-2 Pool B 1. Tennessee Tar Heels 2-0 2. MidState Lakers 1-1 3. 5. Memphis and Clarksville Sub-states are both this weekend. TN Flames, Nashville Nets, MOTTEP Panthers, and 1-2 Memphis teams are bound for Clarksville. Should have Clarksville based teams as well.
  6. J.P. is also in his second spring of helping to coach an AAU team. I believe that he is still with the TN Tar Heels in the 14U Boys division.
  7. The Tennessee Tigers "Black" team is now called the Tennessee Tar Heels and they are playing in Lynchburg. Both sub-states should be very competitive. Word on the street is that Memphis is sending two teams to Clarksville trying to secure 4 spots at DI State.
  8. Lipscomb vs. Goodpasture It is always a good game and great atmosphere. This year's game will also support a great cause. DL & GHS will be playing in the Clinic Bowl at Vanderbilt during Week 0 with proceeds going to support Vanderbilt Children's Hospital. If your favorite team is not playing that week, come on out and support VCH and watch two long-time rivals open the season.
  9. It is game day!! The state championship game awaits tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Civic Center. Get your game face on Mustangs! The purple and gold clad Mustang Nation will be out in force tonight in Springfield to watch this special team of players, managers and coaches. When you are preparing for the game and as you take the floor, remember these words: Ability is what you're capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it. Go 'stangs!! Bring the championship back home tonight!
  10. From the description of Jasper, it should be a good game with MBA. The Big Red is also well coached and will have the size to match Jasper's inside game. They play mainly one guard and four wings/posts. Each of the big men can shoot well from the outside. MBA can go 7 or 8 deep if needed, but mainly sticks with their starting five. Good luck to both teams.
  11. The Lipscomb Mustangs rode into Springfield tonight and defeated a very solid Cleveland team 50-35 in the lower half bracket semifinal game. Lipscomb entered the game 17-2 on the season while Cleveland came in on a 36 game winning streak that covers two years. Lipscomb started hot in the first quarter and took a 9-2 lead to begin the game. Hot shooting, strong defense and a great game plan by the coaching staff allowed the Mustangs to lead 32-18 at the half. Cleveland came out of the locker room and cut the lead to 10 points in the third quarter, but were not able to get any closer down the stretch. With solid coaching and a team that believes in each other, this group of Mustangs is ready for another week of practice in anticipation for the State Championship game next Saturday.
  12. I seem to be 10 minutes behind Vandy1 on most sites tonight. You need to be getting over to Memorial for the big game at 8:00 Vandy1. Or, be like me, and watch both Duke-Indiana and VU-Oregon on the tube using the quick click approach with the remote. Back to why I am here, I also would like to echo Vandy1's comments. Great season by Cheatham County and one that seemingly went just under the radar throughout Middle TN for some reason. I see the Cubs in the mix again next year. Can't give much more of a region outline than Vandy1 has already stated. Replacing 10 offensive starters will be tough, but no doubt that the coaching staff will put all of the pieces together by August. Having Beach back will be an asset both on the defense as well as both special teams. We look forward to making the road trip to Ashland City mid-season. DL appreciates the support from its Region 5 partners and would like to bring home the gold ball for all 8 teams this weekend.
  13. Great game by the Mustangs tonight. Elrod had 117 yards on the ground and Smith had 105 through the air. Two interceptions in the fourth quarter - one by Lehning and one by D. Binkley that he returned for a TD put the game away. The game was much closer than the score states. Covington has a terrific defense. The Chargers played 7-8 players in their defensive box most of the night and the Mustangs were finally able to make them pay on two pass plays to the TE. Congrats to Coach Murphree and his team on a good season. Hats off to the Mustangs for winning 13 in a row and making their third trip to the 'Boro in four years. Keep up the good work and make it a good week.
  14. It will definitely be a good game. Montague1 you are right. Lipscomb is on a mission right now winning 13 in a row. But as three #1 seeds and a #2 seed have already found out, Livingston Academy is making the most of their second season in the playoffs. You can't count out a team that has defeated the teams on the road that they have as well as ND tonight. Class 3A should have a great game next Saturday. Good luck Mustangs!! Let's just hope they can say "mission accomplished" next week!
  15. Shouldn't you be in school right now instead of posting? Just for claficiation, there is now "yellow" in DL's school colors. It is purple and GOLD. I assure you the Mustangs will be and are ready. The game will be won on the field no matter how many fans are on which side. Also, I do not remember in 12 pages of this thread anyone ever referring to Lexington as "country hicks." At least not a DL fan. It will be a great game!
  16. Josh Slater had 21 points for the Mustangs as DL won 64-51. For White House, #00 seems to be a good player and is all over the floor.
  17. Lipscomb is young, but talented. Graduated five seniors from last year's state semifinalist team. The Mustangs game against Clarksville NE was canceled on Tuesday night due to the storms and the Montgomery County B of Ed not allowing their varsity to come down. Still have a few football guys not dressing out for basketball yet. Are you all in the same situation? It should be a good one. Watch out for Slater. He is a pure shooter. Wrong forum, but I must say good luck at Notre Dame Friday night. Only two middle Tennessee survivors left in 3A football. I guess three if you count Livingston Academy as middle TN.
  18. Well said. Out of nine pages of posts, you can probably find only a handful of actual Lipscomb posts on this thread. It is interesting reading for the second week in a row to hear all of the talking amongst themselves from the Lexington folks. Last week's thread with CW would make anyone reconsider saying a thing on here. If the battle is internal, there is no way you can beat the opponent. For the question from InspectorVol on visitor side seating at Lipscomb, there is plenty . . . if you get there early. Seriously, neither Chester County or Cheatham filled it completely if that helps. Cheatham had the stands practically full, but some decided to "walk the fence" instead of asking folks to sit closer.
  19. Sounds like this Chester County Eagle has summed it up very well. Definitely worth the $7.00 admission price.
  20. You are on track so far . . . I-40 East to Exit #206 . . . Take the exit the only way you can which is onto I-440 East toward Knoxville . . . Take Exit #3 which is Hillsboro Pike (Road) . . . exit to the right onto Hillsboro Road . . . Go to the 2nd stop light which will be Woodmont Blvd. (Woodmont Baptist Church on right) . . . Turn left onto Woodmont Blvd . . . Go to the 2nd light and turn right onto Granny White Pike . . . Go approximately 1/2 mile and turn left onto Caldwell Lane (just past Granny White Church of Christ which will be on your right) . . . Just down the hill you will see the stadium on your right. It is 1/2 block off of the main HS/MS and university campus. Note: When you are coming down Granny White Pike, Caldwell Lane will be on your left just as you are seeing the first part of the Lipscomb campus on your right. Have a safe trip and we look forward to hosting all of the Lexington folks this Friday.
  21. First of all, congratulations to Cheatham County on an outstanding season. Going 9-3 in the first year in 3A is a terrific feat as well as winning on the road in the first round of the playoffs. The Cubs came to play tonight and moved the ball well, but just could not push it into the end zone. QB Kendall Bell was terrific on a night that Potts and Jones could not get fully untracked. Hope he is okay after a taking a huge hit on the last play of the game. Hats off to the entire Cheatham County coaching staff and team for a great game and season. Congrats also to Lipscomb on the win tonight and moving into the quarterfinals next week against Lexington. QB Clay Smith moved the team well utilizing the option offense. Cheatham keyed on Elrod all night and Smith was able to make the plays and adjustments when necessary. Man of the night is Jason Hull. The senior kicked two FGs, one PAT, and had the final interception late in the fourth quarter to seal the win. Super job by Coach Mac and his staff. Lipscomb and Cheatham County will be a great game to come in the region of the next several years. Super rivalry with two great fan bases. Both programs respect each other very well. Catfish-Hunter . . . It was great seeing you as always up in the pressbox. You guys are a class act and we look forward to making the trip to Ashland City next year. Pass along the congrats to all of your guys.
  22. Nothing left to say. No matter what is said through this forum involving a Lipscomb game, it always comes down to the public/private issue. Football is played on the field and that is where we prefer to do the talking. Everyone's opinions are respected and recognized. Now, let's go tee it up and let the student athletes decide the outcome. It will be a good one for sure. Go 'Stangs!
  23. Ah, life is good again. When the Bulldog picks against Lipscomb, that means good things are in store for the Mustangs. Thanks Dog Man. Go 'Stangs!
  24. Haven't traveled east and west, but this year in Class 2A my vote would go to Christ Presbyterian Academy. Their stadium sets down along the river and has great seating. The concession area at one end allows the fans to never miss a play and is in a concrete and brick area with picnic tables with space to stand and watch the game from that viewpoint if that is your preference. The administration always goes out of their way to make the visitors and officials feel at home.
  25. Catfish-Hunter thanks for the congrats to Coach Mac. He actually won #250 against Montgomery Central and #251 last week. If you are able to get to the stadium a little early Friday, you would be a tremendous asset to the Lipscomb Game Day broadcast prior to the Radio Network's Pre-Game Show. You could provide much insight to the game and Cheatham County. Maybe you can work this in after set-up and prior to your broadcast. Of course, you will have to go on after the famous Chuck Ross. For all those looking for a great game to watch, come on out to the Reese Smith Athletic Complex - 7:00 p.m. kickoff.
