I was hoping to get to go but the wifey got sick so I had to stay home with the little ones. I thought about bringing them but I would not have been able to see a play anyway. I have been to a couple of the practices and I like what I see most of the time. Of course these are teenagers so they tend to let the heat beat them sometimes. I think we could win five or six games this year if we earn a few breaks here and there. Just my hopeful opinion. Go Jets

Well don't get all upset just because your team could only score once on a 3A school that traditionally is not very good. If your team has so much depth and speed like you think, they should be able to put their third string out there and score more than one touchdown against PF. Maybe you are drinking too much purple kool-aid and it is distorting your vision about your Bears. Anyway, I really do not have a dog in this fight because I was not there and I was just reporting what was told to me by a friend that is actually a Sevier County fan but a reallistic spectrator as well. I had a friend at the Sevier County Jamboree last night and he said that Sevier County was not very impressive. He said they only beat Pigeon Forge 7-0 and that the Pigeon Forge starters are a bunch of sophomores and freshmnan. I would think that Sevier County, with so much talent and depth would be able to beat a young 3A team by more than a touchdown no matter how many players they played. He said that Sevier County did roll in some two's but they did not play everyone and it looked as though they were not trying to take it easy on PF.

All I can say is that I hope you all are kids because if you are an adult and you are bashing a kid who is trying then you are the one that is pathetic. Actually, I do not care how old you are, bashing someone that is trying is pathetic. I do not care how good or bad someone is, if they have the courage and the drive to try and do something, they deserve to be respected and not bashed. Whether he thinks he is better than he really is I do not know and do not care, he is a high school kid trying to do something positive with his after school time. He could be a washed out drug abuser or alcoholic after school but instead he tries to do something positive for hmself and his school. That in itself makes him anything but a loser. There is more to life than playing football on Saturday's and the real losers that should give up are the ones that hide behind a screen a name and talk negative about a kid.

If SD plays like everyone said they did last Friday night Maryville will still win but I think the true SD fans will still have something to cheer about. Maryville 42 SD 21 GQ never blows anyone out because he is a class act but I bet if greasedlightning was the head coach at SD that SD would win by 100 because of her amazing football knowledge.

Greased Lightning, after reading your post I have come to several conclusions about you. 1-You are deffinetly a woman and you know nothing about football. Sure you may know why there are wight lines on the field, men in stripes with yellow hankies, that a touchdown is worth 6 points and other little rules of the game. But what I am sure you are not aware of that coaches sometimes call plays in order to set up other plays and sometimes they have to call them more than once. Sometimes they have to get emotional in order to get the players attention. 2-You have probably worked really hard in the boosters club and you feel that your hard work has not led to the playing time for your son that you expected. However, most coaches play the 11 best players regardless of whether their mommies help or even show up at games or practice. Just because a child does not have a supportinve mommy does not mean that the child should not be able to be on the team or get any playing time. I am sure that if your sone was one of the best 11 he would be on the field. 3-You think you have it all figured out...if the team plays bad and loses it is 100% the coaches fault but if the team plays well and wins it is 100% the kids overcoming the bad coaching and winning on their own. The last time I checked the coaches did not score any touchdowns or miss tackles, blocks or assignments and the players did not call any of the plays or make any forth down decisions or overtime decisions. The point is that when a play does not work that it is the coaches that called the play and the players that executed it but when the play works...oh wait it is still the coaches that called the play and the players that executed it. It sounds to me like SD played very badly against Powell and then bounced back and played very well agoainst Central. The loss to Powell should fall on the shoulders of the coaches and the players as well as the win should ride on the wings of the coaches and players as well. If you are so upset at your hard work not paying off for your son, have him play another sport (like track) where it is all about him (no relays though) or move him to another school. Please do not send him to Carter though the last thing we need is a mommy like you trying to destroy what our coaches and players have been working so hard to accomplish. P.S. I am very proud of you for getting a degree but a degree alone does not make you intelligent in everything. Please use your time to instruct your son that in the real world he will not always get his way and he will not always get along and agree 100% with his boss and his bosses way of doing things. But his choices are to either find another job or doeal with and do his best. Remind him that it is not ok to badmouth his boss behind his bosses back because it may cause problems within the company. I hope your degree will help you to see the analogy in this lesson and will help you to understand what the phrase "team first" means.

I have been wondering how Hammonds has been adjusting to PF and how PF has been adjusting to Hammonds. I know that GP's Hammond is a little too fiery for some and I was wondering if Lee was the same way. I know that the PF fans do not like animation on the sidelines and did not know if Lee was that way. I have not been to any PF games because I missed that Carter game. I know that the PF players will be able to turn it around with leadership but I was just wondering how Hammonds and the PF community were getting along. Please only reply if you know some useful information and do not trash talk any coaches or players please. By the way, i think the in county rivalry will allow PF to keep it close for a littlw while, but Seymour will pull away in the late 2nd quarter and 2nd half.

Just out of curiosity, who should be the head coach and what other positions should each coach be coaching and why? I am asking because you seem to have a little more insight on the situation than the other two on here that just keep repeating that they are idiots with every post. yes I am talking about the non football fan and they guy that is truly never right even by his own screen name.

I have not seen Seymour play this year but I do know that they got it handed to them last week by what many are calling the worst Sevier County team in 15 years. Now I am not saying that Sevier County could nt beat Carter because I have not seen SC play. But, I do think that Seymour will still be hurting from such a lopsided loss to a big rival. I have asked some friends of mine who live and support the South Doyle communty and they say that the majority of people are happy to see South Doyle finally get competitive and play exiting football for a change. I guess they are just happy to have anyone other than the guy that was there before...Now that guy was a jerk.

Well non football fan06, you are right that I really do not have a dog in this fight. But understand that I am giving my unbiased opinion on the situation over there. If the offense put up over 600 yards of total offense and scored 35 points (I think) and still lost, your problem should be with the defensive coaches and not just the head coach. I have watched SD play Carter for the past three years and I can tell you that the staff over there including the head coach have the program on the right track wether they are playing your son or not or getting him the ball enough or not. I cannot speak of Hutchens actions on and off the field because I am not there but I can say that the kids that are starting this year were all on the varsity or JV last year so they are not quitting like they are over here because of the coaching staff. If you are that tired of the staff over there please send all of them to us, ours is pretty good but with the help of your staff the Hornets will be unstopable. I can just see it now, Carter averages over 600 yards of ofense every week and only allows 100 on defense. Go ahead, keep it up and maybe the whole staff will just quit and move to the plains, we would love to see them all...I think.

Non footballfan 06 - What plays do the kees run over and over that do not work. According to the stats in the news paper, South doyle is averaging almost 400 yards of offense this season. I am not sure but I would guess that no other south doyle team has ever done that before. Please do not just say "oh yeah it has" please give some spacifics. I am not even a SD fan but I cant stand to sit back and listen to idiots talk about something they know nothing about so prove that you are not an idiot and tell the world what plays SD is running that are not working so the coaches can change them and maybe have even more offensive yards next week.

I fugured if they got rid of Hutchins that Upton would be the most logical replacement as head coach. I heard that he had the Jefferson County job locked up until he pulled his name our of the running. If Hutchins did leave, who would call the offense, Upton or one of the other coaches.

Now dont start this I heard this and I heard that. If you know any true facts like Seymour is 2-0 and Southj Doyle is 1-1 then post those things but dont start trying to turn this topic into a bunch of lies and trash talk. On with the show...This should be an instant rival game with the schools being so close so it is safe to say that no matter the talent level of each school, it should be a good game. I hope the Eagles represent Region 1 3A but it is going to be hard to root for Seymour when I have been conditioned to root against them so hard when they play the Hornets.

Knoxvegas, you are an absolute liar. West kept thier first team until about 4 minutes left in the game and were still trying to air it out. South doyle just decided to play in the second half. If you do not believe me just read and listen to the comments made by your own head coach.

Defenitely an upset. Regardless of West's record they are still the #2 team in the region. They have lost to two of the top two teams in Knoxville and I think they have the ability to win the rest accept of course Maryville. I watched South Doyle play Carter Friday night and while south doyle is much improved this year, Carter was the better team on the field. They just made too many mistakes. I know I am a big time Hornet fan and my opinion may be seen as a little biased but that is just how I saw it through my green glasses.

It is a proven fact that Ryan is afraid to get hit. When he does get hit, he just tries to get rid of the ball as fast as possible to anyone on the field. Halladay is a true QB.

I definitely think this Friday night against SD will be a tough one. However, on the bright side, these injuries will give the backups some opportunity to get some quality friday night snaps against a non region team which might help with the depth issues during the season in region games that really matter. I hope that #20 has a speedy recovery because next week starts region play and we do need him. I still think the Hornets will get the job done this week and put a big W in the book. Go Hornets

Are you sure that #20 seperated his shoulder, I was told something completely different? Either way #22 is just as good if not better and he can carry the load at tailback. Having #11 back will make a huge difference expecially since his backup got injured Friday night. I sure am glad that the injury was not more serious than it was. Either way, I am still pumped about the upcoming season and I think we will stil be Region 1 3A champs.

Carter has completely dominated this matchup the past two years, but I have heard that South Doyle is much improved this year. Carter has one game under their belt but it was a very bad game, I hope the Hornets will have a better showing this week. Is there any word on the Carter players who were injured.
