  1. #1 reason -- FAMILY ; I would say that time with family is the most important one.
  2. Amen. Oh, there is a bond between Murfreesboro and the Div II playoffs, it right off I-24 on Warrior Dr. Maybe not a good bond but a bond none the less.
  3. Getting BA out of the way and in Div.II did not hurt either.
  4. yeah, can you imagine sending all those 2a private schools all over to play instead of knocking each other out. That would go over real well. But as far as the rest i would like to see the old format, plus just the top 2 instead of 4 go if you keep it like it is. But money talks.
  5. What do you think the crowd size will be? I would guess 3,500 if that. This is really when they should let the game be played in memphis.
  6. Riverdale, Notre Dame, Hooters? That is easy, got to love those OO wls!!

Don't think a fan or booster can't get you out of a tournament put on by tssaa? Go ahead and be cute, but remember you are like a bunch of ants to them. They stand over you with a big hammer, no warnings, just bam, you violated rule so and so and this is the punishment. Then you all go back home and cry about how unfair the tssaa is and this and that. Heck if your big enough to take the chance ( for your whole school) then you ought to big enough to handle what follows. Ask someone from coffee county if they have ever lived through something like this. This not the time to take on the TSSAA, but then again if you like to gamble with others to suffer for the possible outcome, go for it.
  8. Oh, so this was a for our information only "tread". Usually people that post on here want some kind of response. Our bad.
  9. No, i missed it, we got white house-greenbrier here, i have heard people say such and such running back doesn't like contact, wiil fall, go out of bounds etc. Not sure i have ever heard of anything being held against a running back for running over to many people on the way to 352 yards rushing. Oak ridge is a 5a team isn't it? On defense are slobberknocking tackles also frowned upon?
  10. If he doesn't have breakaway speed and relies on just running over people, he must have run over alot of them to have 352 yards on 18 carries. not comparing, but when i lived in pensacola fl. escambia had a running back that most recruiters (emfinger he was the big one back then) said was to slow to play big time football (sec) he was about 5-10 205. Having seen him play about 7 games his jr. year i for the life of me could not figure out what recruiters did not like, but it always came back to his 40 times. But all in all i think Emmitt Smith turned out to be a pretty good college running back. Ya just never know, you can't time desire.
  11. yea i agree south carolina is a "small" sec school ; no way he is good enough to play for that big "sec" school like tennessee. it's a good thing they never play or the big one would crush the small one.
  12. What do you think of parents holding a child back for a year ( in school) for sports reasons? I put this in this forum because i figured after a couple of responses someone would move it here. If it is ok to be in the main one feel free to move it. We played a team last year who had one player that was really, really good. When we played them this year i noticed he was back ( not a big kid at all just really good) I was told he and 1 other player were suppose to be in the 7th grade but were "held back". I also was told that one of the players dad was one of the coaches and, if a player is held back after they are in the 7th grade they must sit out the 9th grade year. I know there are several reasons parents may hold a child back ( grades, maturity, SR year 18th birthday in late spring (may- june; started school to early) ect. My main question is if this happens and the school knows it is not for grades, etc., and only for sports reasons, is it not totally against what a professional educator stands for? I have heard this happens in private schools more than public. I have a hard time understanding how an educator/principal would allow this to happen for sports only, it seems to me this goes against everything they would stand for, something does not seem right . Comments?
  13. I started this and i am not sure what the definition of working is. I guess they put in the 1.8 because private schools were dominating in 1 & 2 & 3a.? I guess for example if last year the top 5 teams in 1a were 4 privates and 1 public and now in 2a it is 3-2 either way (or 4-1 public as far as that goes) is that considered working? I don't know myself, it just seems there is not as much uproar about the private schools since this has been done. but now looking at it i guess 1a would be happy and 2a might not think to much of it. Plus maybe it will not really show up till the playoffs start. 1.8 was a really big deal last year and i was just wondering if it accomplished what they wanted ( whoever they are).
  14. Whoever moved this, i was just asking how a new tssaa rule was working. this is not a public-private debate. It is a rule and they are together playing, and there is nothing anybody can do about it and i was just wondering how it was working. I am sick and tired of the pub-pri debate i don't even come to pub-pri thread to read comments. Thats why i was hoping to keep it on the other side. If you moved because this is a touchy subject for you sorry, no offense meant.
  15. So is that to assume that the private schools in the districts/ regions that they had to move up to are alredy on top? if so it must not be working like they thought it would, or do you have to wait for the playoffs to start to really tell if it will? If it effects 2a and 3a the most how do you find the standings?
  16. not knowing what schools are in each class/disrict/region accross the state, is this new system accomplishing what it was intended to do. Would like to hear some opinions without the same ole old public-private debate. Just is this new 1.8 rule working?
  17. If you saw the game tonight,(which i am still shocked at the way Ryan played) of all the players on the field why would you pick #72 and #34 as recruits?
  18. Why do you seem so angry GREG141? A jp2 fan started the whole academics thing and the Ryan people were just stating that it wasn't true. No need to get all worked up. my goodness..if the posts by Ryan/JP2 fans aggrivate you that much, just don't bother reading them.
  19. I personally don't see how IrishDink is coming off as funny to you jp2fan? What has he said that is not true? And now your acting like you've caught him or something? um...ok I don't understand how you can come on here and say that Father Ryan has no class when there's what? not even 5 people that post on here? To imply that we have poor sportsmanship and no class is one of the worst insults that Ryan athletes and fans can receive. And to put it painly-it's just not true. Although you might have had incidents with a few people, that is no reason to accuse the entire school. Ryan has not done anything worse than JP2. Nothing. I maybe not be playing on the football field, but I've played JP2 in other sports and their sportsmanship was nothing to brag about. But we didn't come on here and bash you guys. By the way, it would be impossible for Father Ryan Wrestling to NOT talk about the players playing with PRIDE because that is what is instilled into Ryan athletes. The football players have had some rough seasons for a few years now and that pride is what keeps them on the field every year and the fans behind them. We aren't giving up-because of our Irish Pride. If you can't understand that jp2fan, you don't understand Father Ryan. If you don't understand us, please stop posting on here acting like you do. You're only coming across as ignorant. To the Irish players-let's win this one on the field, not on coach t
