  1. Trust me you do not want to see it. Can not think of a team Smyrna has played in the last 4 years that even compares.
  2. 55 and the other one are all that should have been addressed on this. before they came in they were well on the way of seperating the two teams. from the time the kid got thrown down which drew the flag till 55 came charging into the pile it was 16-18 seconds. still can not figure out why 10 other kids have to be suspended for any length of time. like i said before way to harsh.
  3. Way to harsh a penalty, 2 players should have been dealt with and those are the two that charged the skirmish like rhinos. And 55 was not the one who knocked the Smyrna player into coach Williams it was the second one that charged the pile.
  4. Might want to check date of that Smyrna scrimmage, pads go on Aug.1 so I know it is not July 29. I have scrimmage date as Tuesday Aug.9

    DCA

barring any interference from his father Now that is funny
  7. Bever and Childs called plays, and already had one new assistant during spring but I can not remember his name.
  8. That is why anyone with any sense knows to do it in the 6th grade, surely every parent would know by then if "Johnny" is All-American material or not. No really if you are going to hold em back do it then, no penalties, or threats of, will be held against you.
  9. Brooks - Mt. Juliet Jones - non teaching, probably looking for job to support family Embry - freshman coach, did not coach varsity Platt - freshman coach, did not coach varsity I must be honest, either the coaches that were there during spring practice or the players must be commended, or both because it seemed spring practice went smooth and I would say both scrimmages were a success. This just my opinion and others may have a different view.
  10. If it does pass, I could see over about 2 years everyones tuition in Hamilton county for example increase somewhere in the neighborhood of about $4800.

    Beech Coaches

http://www.tennessean.com/article/20110421/GALLATIN02/110421057/2008/GALLATIN02/Beech-softball-goes-back-old-regime Let go with a 20-5-1 record? There has got to be more to this than stability.
  12. As they say lets worry about this year this year. Last year everyone was saying Matt had a bunch of coaches nobody wanted, what a difference a year makes. Good luck to Mark in his new job at Gallatin.
  13. Yep your right no talent at smyrna LOL Think he might be looking for his own future?
  14. Wow great post. If you are a coach great job, but if you are a teacher, that is even better talking about him in the classroom.
  15. What week are ya'll coming to the Boro to play Blackman?
  16. How is this, it even tells you who they will probably play in 2012. http://goodpasturefootball.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=512&Itemid=126
  17. That is just plain stupid on his part, just goes to show you just because you go to college it doesn't make you smarter than someone that has common sense. If that story is true, that is pitiful.
  18. Div II schools have been down this road before, been hearing all this since about, oh, forever lol. Interesting to see how other schools respond to it though.
  19. This post sounds like a play when the flag is thrown, then they huddle to talk about it, then come out and announce no flag on the play, and everyone looks at each other except the refs wife, who thinks good call.
  20. Great post, having sent my kids to both Div I and Div II schools I agree with you. But if you read this with the blanks which division comes to mind first? You made a good choice for your family and good luck. Here is original post: I would not consider sending our children to Alcoa to be "buying" their way to success. I would consider sending them to Alcoa to be doing what is best for them, which is my job as a parent. It is not my job to make Blount County schools better, it is the job of Blount County schools to solve the issues that drive parents to move their children to better schools. Why would I choose to send my children to a school which is overcrowded and performs at a lower academic level? Why if they have a passion for football would I choose to send them to a school where they have little chance for success? Why would I not choose a small school with outstanding academics and a disciplined, well coached football program? There is no "buying" success at Alcoa, the academics are challenging, the football is demanding and there is no easy ride to success. But the best thing about being at Alcoa is the feeling of family, that is truly priceless.
  21. After lookong at it again I see where the 20 miles was for private schools. But still have lots of questions.

  23. Bump BA up to AAA? You are kidding right? Before the split occured to division II There were 5 classes A through 5A. BA VOLUNTARILY played up in 5A and won two championships (95 and 96) beating Riverdale and Jefferson County. Nobody had to tell them to play up they did it on their own, that is why the cryout for something to be done and as they say the rest is history. When the initial talking came along there were only 3. The 5 came later. but then how many years did they play in that division? BTW, if you look now the regular season is cheduled as A, AA, AAA; only in the post season do they break into 6. And now the outcry about Alcoa and Maryville running out such strings of championships. You gonna demand they move to Div II now? From 1993-2008 the classes were 1A-5A in football there was no A,AA,AAA anymore for football, enter Z-plan in 2009 that is when for district alignment purposes and the addition of 6A A, AA, AAA came back into play because of mixture of 5A and 6A (AAA)in some districts. As for your question on how many years they played in it I don't know, but since 5A was created in 93 they won it it 95 and 96 at the most 4 and for sure 2. As for the cryout for something to be done I wasn't talking about Alcoa and Maryville I was talking about the cryout for something to be done about BA which there was . DII started in 1997 and the rest is history.
