  1. Timbdp, Just stop posting. You blame every loss or subpar effort on the officiating, or you may not blame it on officiating but at least point it out. That's ridiculous. You are just making it more difficult for a program that has struggled for so long to gain credibility. White House could have won that game. White House just got beat. The Lady Devils are not world beaters. They've had a great year though. They'll take their 20 or 21 wins to the region and likely exit in the first round. But that's a great year considering where they're coming from. Those girls have worked hard. Give them the credit they deserve, but don't discredit the teams that are simply better than they are on a given night. Good luck to White House the rest of the way.
  2. How did Watertown play Clarkrange so close on Thursday night?
  3. How did Gordonsville turn the tables on Westmoreland? It sounds like it was a good game.
  4. District 7A is tough. Those teams are not unbeatable though. Jackson County by far the closest thing to being a sure thing. RBS and Clarkrange better just worry about getting to Murfreesboro. How many times in recent years has RBS even advanced to the region semifinal round. Good A teams shouldn't get absolutely dumped on by an average AA team like RBS did on Friday night. Clarkrange is just not playing well. Will they get it together by tournament time? One would be inclined to think so based on their past history. We'll see soon enough. One thing I would bet on though is that Clarkrange will not be in the state championship game unless they just absolutely find another gear that they haven't found the whole year thus far. People talk about an all 7A state championship game. These aren't the Jackson County and Livingston Academy teams of the late 90s and early 2000s. These teams aren't close to that good. Let's try to be realistic in our assessments.
  5. DCA is well-coached. They'll make WHHS play their game. Edgar is more of a defensive presence than an offensive threat. Edgar rarely scores more than 10-12 points. Greenwade is the one who has been showing out. She's really turned it on. The WHHS guards are unsteady, no offense to Roberson. Roberson has to do the majority of the dirty work and gets overlooked. She's a very solid point guard. WHHS is capable but still far too inconsistent. They played really well last week in a win over Goodpasture and then gave up 50-something points to a Station Camp team with absolutely no post game. That's far from impressive. DCA wins this one by 12 points. Greenwade will have to score 30 for WHHS to have a real shot at a win. Best of luck to both teams.
  6. Who won and what was the score? How did it go?
  7. Have there been internal problems amongst the players at Macon County? How have they taken losing so many close district games that they were capable of winning? They usually get up to play RBS. Hopefully, it will be a good one.
  8. For those of you who haven't seen them, both of these girls are the real deal. It doesn't matter that Laken gets to play this year while Kayci doesn't. That just makes District 7-A a little more interesting. The man who should be upset over this is Lamar Rogers (and maybe the coach at Westmoreland too now that I think about it). Laken playing for RBS jeopardizes Clarkrange's chances of getting back to the Boro. With the Brown girl leaving Clarkrange for Cumberland County and Leonard playing for RBS, it'll be difficult for Clarkrange to get back. I'm just saying that it will be difficult. I'd still pick them over RBS because of tournament experience. Jackson County is going to win the district and will likely roll to the state. Nobody will challenge Jackson County in the substate, whethere JC is at home or on the road. The No. 2 team from District 7-A will have a really good shot at going to the state too. If Laken wasn't playing for RBS, RBS wouldn't beat Clarkrange. Now, those teams seem to be neck and neck. Leonard is a difference maker. She doens't play like an eighth-grader, except for some persistent foul problems. She can shoot the three. She's versatile in the post. She's athletic. She rebounds well. She handles the ball very well for a big girl. She's the real deal. She makes a pretty good RBS team a very good team. She's a go-to player. However, she's not 6-6. It's over once Kayci gets to Jackson County next year. I don't know how anybody can defend her. Middle school girls can't even come close. It's boring to watch...post up with hand held high, throw the lob, catch the lob, dump the 4-foot shot into the basket. With a girl that tall, I don't even see how zones are going to slow her much. You'll still be able to get that pass in to her because she's so much bigger than everybody else on the floor. And she'll take away other teams' inside production too. Every college program in the country will want her. It really wouldn't surprise me to see Jackson County win it all four years she's in high school. Leonard's going to be a great player too. She's somewhat like an Andrea Davidson, but her perimeter game is better than Davidson's was at the age she's at right now. However, by the time she was a senior, Davidson had steadily improved. Her perimeter game had really developed by that time. She made every player around her better. We'll see if Leonard does that, or if Coach White can get her to develop her game into that. That may be the difference in that girl being an NAIA player or an OVC-type of player.
  9. Was this game closer than the final score indicated? How did the two teams play? I thought Gordonsville had a good shot at knocking off Westmoreland this year.
  10. 1. Goodpasture 2. Station Camp 3. White House 4. Greenbrier
  11. How did Watertown do against Westmoreland on Friday?
  12. She's outcoached Macon County for years, and her girls seem to believe in what she tells them to do. Westmoreland may lose to Macon County three out of four times this year, but the Tigerettes shouldn't have lost to Westmoreland at all.
  13. Outcoached...Macon County should never lose to Westmoreland this year. Macon County is quicker with Compton and Gregory, bigger with Sircy and #32 inside, shoots better from the perimeter, is more experienced and has a better point guard.
  14. Great programs don't play for next year. You never know what may happen in a year's time. Players could get hurt. Chemistry could not be there. Girls could get pregnant. You just don't know. You hope those things don't happen, but they could. RBS is talented right now. Make it happen this year. Beat one of the big dogs (Clarkrange, Jackson County or Westmoreland) in the regional semifinals and earn your spot in the state this year. You're good enough now. Programs that talk about what could be or what could have been are not successful. Don't dwell on yesterday or tomorrow. Focus on what you can do to be the best you can be today. Good luck to all. That's a great Class A region with those four schools...and throw in pretty good teams in Gordonsville and Clay County too.
  15. The Lady Devils have made obvious strides. There were no bad calls. Edgar played an undisciplined one-minute stretch in the first quarter, picked up two fouls during that time and sat for the rest of the half. It wouldn't have mattered if she played or not in the second half. JP2 was the first good team White House has played. Now they see how far they still have to go in order to beat a good team. Hopefully, they will get there. JP2 didn't exactly play well offensively to be honest. Good luck to Edgar and WHHS.
  16. Imallin' post: Westmoreland's inability to move the ball as usual was a direct result of the pressure that Smith Co.'s defense put on the offense. The only match-up where Westmoreland might have had a slight advantage supposedly was the WR/DB match-up. Westmoreland did TRY to exploit that throughout the game and a rather large chunk of their total yards came from that. The DB however made sure solid tackles (one of which was a bogus interference call and one that stopped a Westmoreland drive a yard or so short on 4th down), gave up no touchdowns, and had a big interception. Westmoreland probably threw at him 10 - 12 times. I would say the DB won that match-up just like SC did every other one. Smith County won this game in every phase. The Owls were the better team on Friday night and are the better team in my opinion. However, the DB did not win that matchup with the Westmoreland receiver. The only reason that Westmoreland came close to scoring was a pair of long pass completions to that kid. Tez got beat deep on both of those plays. When you have multiple receivers to the opposite side of the field (and thus little if any help from the free safety), you don't get beat deep. He got beat deep a couple of times. Also, if the Westmoreland quarterback wouldn't have thrown behind that kid on a slant route, Westmoreland would have scored before halftime. Tez did a decent job, but let's not go too far and say that he won that matchup. The important thing is that his team won, and he contributed somewhat to the win.
  17. You must have your BDP blinders on. Station Camp is a pretty good team and program.
  18. Is this Tyner team not as good as some of the past Tyner teams?

    Big Ones games

When do the Big Ones games for the upcoming week appear on the coacht home page? Are they up by Sunday night? Or is it usually sometime on Monday morning before they're posted online?
  20. In the future, please do your homework before delivering a state of the union address. Gallatin wins its region with lots of talent at the skill positions and a speedy defense. As fas as how far the Wave will go in the playoffs, who knows. Hendersonville sneaks into the playoffs as a third or fourth seed. Have you looked at Beech and Portland's region? There's nobody there. Portland may win that region. Beech may make the playoffs. White House will roll in 3A if healthy. The Devils are banged up already from what I've been hearing. White House has the best coaching staff in Sumner County. Station Camp will have to beat either Sycamore or Greenbrier to earn a playoff berth. That's unlikely but not impossible. Westmoreland has gotten rid of Lipscomb and Goodpasture. The schedule is not near as rough as it has been in previous years. Westmoreland will finish near the top of its region if it avoids injury. You forgot about PJP II, which could make some serious noise in D-II. Their quarterback graduated, so I don't know if they'll be able to throw on teams as they did a year ago. Golden Tate will be a Mr. Football finalist. There may be three or four Mr. Football finalists out of Sumner County this year, if they stay healthy - Sawyer, Ladd, Tate and possibly Sheffield.
  21. Westmoreland beat Smith County something like 41-33 in 1993, the first year the TSSAA went to five classes. Smith County made a late comeback attempt that fell short. That win was for the region title. Westmoreland won easily the next two years, in routs. Smith County won by two touchdowns in 1996, returning a late interception for a touchdown to seal the win. Smith County won in 1997 too. Westmoreland won in 1998. Smith County won in 1999. Westmoreland won in 2000.
  22. What about David Corlew from Beech? Is he not close to those guys in terms of rushing yardage? Also, what about that Brown kid from Westmoreland that won Mr. Football. It seems like he played forever.
  23. Let's be real here. Campbellsville is not a bad school. But competing for a national championship...no, not within reach unless some major changes are made. They're never going to beat Georgetown until they make some big-time changes. But they will compete for one of the top spots in the conference. Campbellsville has some talent, but the undersized player with a big heart can play there too. That's just NAIA football for you. Campbellsville has underachieved the past couple of years. Maybe the Tigers will step it back up. It may be this way everywhere, but small-school football in Kentucky seems to be all offense and no defense. Maybe that's just NAIA football in general. Kentucky high school football is that way too, containing a big-time emphasis on offense and numbers. Good luck to the new coach and the program at CU.
