  1. Josh Slater - David Lipscomb - Has great leadership qualities. Has lead the Mustanges in every catagory the past two years. - Scoring, Rebounds, Assist. Some say team has overachieved because of his steady play.
  2. I don't think it was the Ezell guards that frustrated him, rather the officials, just like last year. Lipscomb knows they have a bullseye on them. The night before against goodpasture one Lipscomb player suffered a concussion and fractured nose because of the inconsistent calls ( being kind ) of the officials. One of the same ones called the ezell game. I mean he was at the ezell game.
  3. Mustangs are off to a very good start. They have been playing to the level of opposing teams in some instantances. They play in a very tough district and must focus on each team overlooking no team. I think they have the players to have a great season. King21 the LA game should be a very good game. Livingston is always tough. One correction Lipscomb won last year 62-59 in a very hard-fought game at Lipscomb.
  4. Thursday Dec 28 Mens Bracket Game 1 - Cheatham Co. vs Gallatin 11:30am Game 2 - Pickett Co. vs Whitehaven 2:30pm Game 3 - Germantown vs Heritage Christian 5:30pm Game 4 - Lipscomb vs Houston Christian (Tx) 8:30pm The rest of the schedule depends on outcome of games.
  5. Lipscomb has at least 6 varsity players still playing football. At least two will be starting, all will see time on floor.
  6. You are correct maybe 6'4" with shoes. One of the most overrated players I saw from TN this summer traveling to major tourneys.
  7. I think you are right. From what I understand he took a hard spill in regional finals and had a fair amount of swelling and soreness. Slowed him a little bit. I don't think it was anything a little time off will not take care of.
  8. Slater from Lipscomb should be in the mix. 9AA all district. Region 5AA MVP. Played Kemp even in the sectional.
  9. MLK did not earn the right to play in the game. Lipscomb took 2 of 3 from them this year and they were where they deserved to be. Watching
  10. I did say tonight. Is it posssible that he was out played by someone else just one night?
  11. Kemp looked like the second best point guard on the floor tonight in Nashville. I believe Slater took the number one spot tonight.
  12. I believe they have moved the game to Lipscomb University at Allen. Hope alot of Purple & Gold shows up.
  13. Foul trouble is because he is out of control from time to time. He does have Slater in the speed catagory but I just dont see the others. I also have to wonder if he is MLK's best defender. They are slow to put him on Slater both games I've seen. May be afraid he will pick up fouls there also. No dought Robinson is a good player just a different type of player than Slater. More of a slasher. I think that Hume Fogg is the host at old TPS grounds off Foster Ave.
  14. BigRoyalBen where have you been? I chalk this one up to bad coaching by Lipscombs coach. He played to the teams weakness instead of the teams strength. Forcing the ball into the undersized post players hoping to draw fouls. I've seen Lipscomb play 9 times this year and they seem to play better when players go to the basket. I think Slater only took 6 or 7 shots. DL's coach needs to realize he does not have a 6'4 and 6'5 post this year.
  15. Hoghead nation, Chill out. Friday is just about here and I'm sure you will have something new to gripe about after you finish playing Smith Co. or York Inst or Macon Co .Whoever is next. FYI Lipscomb girls had that same call (technical) go against them 1 week ago against Ezell Harding. Maybe the refs just believe in calling games according to the rules here in the big city. Your players play hard and play with class. Your fans need to work on it.
  16. I have to agree with you Geezer. I saw Slater play In 2004 State tournament against Raleigh-Egypt. Maurice Miller was trying to check him but Slater was so successful breaking him down that they had to put Lawrence Kinnard on him who now plays at UAB.
  17. I think I remember White House losing to David Lipscomb eairler this season. I may be wrong.
  18. Question about MLK is how deep their team or bench will be. Only 3 of their players saw much time last year. Pearl Cohn is a wild card. They have a new coach and have moved down to AA. Two of their players play football and were hurt in car accident earlier this year. Do not know the status of them. Lipscomb should be very competitive this year. They lost two good big men but should be able to adjust with jv players moving up. Should have strong front court. Ezell this summer appeared to have a well balanced team with good speed. Don't know alot about them or any of the other teams moving to AA
