  1. Coffee County vs. Columbia tomorrow in Manchester has to be an early breakout game for CC if they can win. Columbia could be overlooking the Redladies because of the big homecomming game on Friday night with the ladies from Bedford Co. If Columbia wins tues and Friday they might gain enough confidence to stay on top. I haven't seen them play yet (Columbia) but will definately be there Friday. I don't know if they have enough horses to overcome transfer and graduation to win 2 big games in 1 week. I know it's getting fun!
  2. Scoreboard says Loretto 72 Culleoka 16 No details but I bet Jana C. scored 45 points.
  3. Hope so for the district's sake but they still haven't played anybody. I didn't see them all summer or fall so you'll know tomorrow night if not then you'll know for sure when Columbia comes to town next Tues. I hope they are better it will make the district as a whole better. Tullahoma is the only one I cant' understand anyway
  4. She is an okay post. Somewhat of an attitude problem. Had trouble behaving in Marshall Co. Didn't do a whole lot there so maybe needed a change of scenery (?spelling). I wish this thing had spell check. Oh well. They (Coffee Co ) had too many holes to fill to challenge for the top 3 spots in the district may hang on and grab that 4th and final spot for the tournament run then even the playing field and who knows.
  5. Lincoln better play better than they did against the teams they played in the Columbia tournament from the looks at the scores. Lincoln by 5
  6. Man I remember some wild Oakland Columbia games in the Lions Den. Great to hear it was an exciting evening. Didn't hear much on the girls side but saw the score. Lady Pats must be rebuilding or Columbia has something up their sleeve that no one was expecting
  7. Coffee Co may have gotten Woo from Lewisburg but they lost too many of their guns from last year and the girl that was running some guard last year has been working at post so I don't think there is enough experience at the key positions to handle some of the pressure that is gonna come at them. Columbia plays there next Tues. and we'll see for sure then. Big game next Friday at the Lions Den in Columbia. Homecoming for Janay Armstrong. Lampley is out for the Lady Lions so could make it easy for a Shelbyville win and the early lead in the district. Word is tickets may need to be bought up ahead of time but I doubt that. I hope to make the trip from west Bedford Co for that one.
  8. Cait .... Best wishes from Middle Tennessee. Look forward to seeing you on the hill.
  9. I didn't get to the Columbia Oakland games as I planned to but looks like from the score that Columbia avenged one of their losses from last year. Columbia may be better than some folks would like to think. I talked to some people at the Lincoln Co. Marshall Co. and it sounds like Lincoln Co got back in the win column after some tough losses over the weekend. Hard to judge that cause I don't know how good Marshall Co is.... I know they are young. It sounds like Shelbyville is glad not to have to play Smyrna every night.
  10. Great win for the Lions. Great game both ways. Oakland seemed a bit groggy and it looked like they felt Columbia couldnt' or wouldn't keep up the extreem pressure all night and then they could get into an offense and win but it just didn't happen. Columbia distracted the Oakland offense and never allowed them to get into a pattern. As far as first posts.... I couldn't do anything for 15 minutes for stareing at the screen and wondering if I spelled something correctly.
  11. I guess some are lucky they got out of the place at all! They evidently don't have the black hole around there anymore. There have been whole ball teams never heard from again after playing in the box at Culle. Yall come back now ya hear
  12. That's going to be a fun place to go watch ball.... Easier to support Tennessee teams with Tennessee players. I've never bought a ticket until now but I'll go some around the HS games.
  13. Yup Mt. J was one. I don't think Oak Hill had a very productive trip that weekend
  14. You are correct but I think it is totally how the thing was worded and also Oak Hill had been hammering coach to get to come. Oh well it won't be that big of a thang it is just another thang.
  15. Coacht.... Shelbyville has only one game because they are under "suspension from the TSSAA for playing Oak Hill Acadamy in last years playday. Oak Hill is not a member of Virginia's Secondary school's athletic association and therefore our members can not or are not allowed to play them. Insell didn't know that when he scheduled them last year. 3 other schools played them last year and are under similar suspension. All schools self reported the violation and therefor recommended their own sanctions. The sanctions limited the schools to no spring 2005 scrimmages and only 2 pre season scrimmages and no play days so Shelbyville can host (obviously) but only play 1 game a day. I think they have another scrimmage somewhere else scheduled so that is why they are only doing one game. The other 3 Tennessee schools are not in this years Shelbyville playday. I think that is a stupid rule and Coach Insell obviously didn't know of it either or he wouldn't have scheduled them. The wording is vague and you really come out of reading the rule thinking scrimmage or play day games is not a violation but none the less, it is. Since this went down last year, I believe the rules have undergone clarification so this doesn't happen again. Hope this helps and it is common knowledge (maybe only with the affected schools) so that is why I posted to answer the question. It didn't affect Hall of Fame games however wonder why? good day
  16. Pageman... great job and look forward to your stats and posts this year. Is Smyrna the powerhouse we are all hearing bout?
  17. Not much difference in district 8.... Janay Armstrong at Shelbyville... will be the best thing for her (Janay) and the entire district 8. Come tourney time we'll know for sure and this post will make more sense. 1. Shelbyville/Columbia 3. Lincoln Co. 4. Coffee Co. 5. Franklin Co. 6. Lawrence Co. 7. Tullahoma obviously Columbia and Shelbyville have to win home games. The road wins will boil it all down. Columbia won't go 30-3 but everybody wants to give it to Shelbyville on the strenght of a transfer but everyone forgets that there is a post transfer at Columbia also. Head to head stats from last year tells you how that match up aught to pan out also. Still it is a toss up at the top. Overall, the district is a bit stronger at the top 4 level and should boad well come tourney time. District 7 1. Riverdale 2. Cookeville 3. White Co. 4. Siegel 5. Oakland 6. Warren Co. 7. Blackman 8. Lebanon No idea, but from memory of last year. I think top 4 could mix it up pretty well. Oakland has great coach but hard to overcome all the seniors that graduated. Cookeville is my darkhorse for the region.
  18. I didn't know the best place to post this but since it was a basketball physical exam, I thought I'd post here. A family member of mine went for the pre season physical exam for ball and they detected a heart murmer. Turns out ...a very small opening in a vessel supplying blood to the valve area of the heart ( I think I'm correct I'm no doc) anyway, quick surgical repair with a lazer and endo scope and 6-8 weeks recovery time and we don't miss much of the season. No symptoms prior other than some slight fatigue at times but always thought that was normal. Kudos to the docs and I'll never complain about having to wait in line for the physicals thinking that it was just a hit and miss exam. Just felt like telling someone that may feel it is not worth it on the physicals. thanks
  19. Not making any predictions but suffice it to say that this year's crop of AAA girls basketball teams will make for alot of fun games to watch. We had some friends visiting this past summer and our daughter's team was involved in the Shelbyville summer camp. They (including their daughter who playes in a AAAAA school in Arkansas) went along with us to watch our daughter's team and some of the other games and they couldn't believe the qualitiy of the teams and even the so called small schools level of play. We are blessed with good coaches and teams all the way through the state. Okay I'll throw out some names but not in any specific order Lincoln Co. Cookeville, Cleveland, Mt. Juliet, Riverdale, Shelbyville....you get the picture same song second verse.
