  1. Should be an incredible game. Not surprised to see these two teams make it. Way to go Baylor and BA, they showed what D2AAA is all about with their late season runs. This should be the best Clinic Bowl game since the 8-7 MBA BA game.
  2. congrats BA. way to represent middle TN. wouldn't be right for yall not to be there this late i guess. kottas and garrett = playmakers. people always say that their basketball team is good because of brandan wright and josh bone, but look at the numbers those two guys put up and that speaks volumes as to the athletes theyve got.
  3. I thought Braswell only carried it 12 times that game for 306. I am almost certain those were the stats but who knows I am still in awe of that performance so I may be mistaken. But hey, Baylor doesn't have anyone like that right now. Heck, Braswell was never like that again. MBA will give up a score but they will get one more from their defense or special teams and be productive on the ground all night. Another MBA victory, 23-7. Another thing you can count on is Coach Rutledge crying before the game. Gets the kids really fired up. I would be happy to play Byrnes again and only allow 500 yards of offense. We beat Brohm and he threw for 414. How many yards did McCallie give up to Alcoa, who is far from the powerhouses Byrnes and Trinity proved to be.
  4. The respect the players have for their coach is what matters. I'm sure no one doubts that Ryan players want to win and they felt confident after doing so against two 5A teams this year. They were certainly better this year with what seemed to be much more leadership from their seniors, something that has not existed in the past couple years under Jemison. They have a lot of athletes and don't lose much size next year. The team will have a lot of seniors next year. I expect them to make the playoffs at the very least. OleDad doesn't belong in the D2 discussions. Too much uranium in yall's water must make you the way you are.
  5. Yeah, Al Wilson is one of the best linebackers in the league for sure but 270 yards of penalties is grounds for an FBI investigation.
  6. Hahaha what a surprise! The same school that put out a class act like Daniel Brooks racked up 270 yards in penalties. That absolutely blows my mind that a coach would stand on the sideline and allow the same players to go in each series and continue to break rules. I saw Melrose lose to Hillsboro in Nashville in 2004 and they had some of the fastest people I have ever seen. I went to the Olympics in Atlanta and have been to multiple SEC track and field championship meets and still stick by my statement that Melrose had some of the fasted people I have EVER seen. I hope Melrose wins and expect them to. They have become one of the teams in TN that I really respect and wish them all the luck during the playoff run. Go MBA, Dobbyns-Bennett, Hillsboro, and Melrose. Where is Craig Cooper going to play his college ball??
  7. Baylor was held scoreless against an MBA defense that was playing without all of its starting linebackers. Several players along the defensive front were making their first start of the year. I believe Hightower's out for the year but Luke Brown and Prevost are supposedly ready. Poor Cody Romans may be spending the night at Vanderbilt if the Baylor O-line doesn't pull it together. MBA vs MUS will be a heck of a game(hopefully) and either BA or McCallie could thwart CBHS's strong season. The semi finals should provide two really really good games. I may be ruling Baylor out too early but by listening to the game on their student network it sounded like MBA's defense was playing at a level that Baylor hadn't seen all year. Any word on Tyree Ford's health? He is sick at 100%
  8. dobbyns-bennett had a huge stadium. the locker rooms are directly underneath the home team stands. DB definately has a true advantage at home. the mba vs dobbyns-bennett game in 2002 is one of the best football games i have ever seen. the atmosphere in that stadium was intimidating and probably tied in to how the game turned out.
  9. Who finished the regular season with the most passing/rushing/receiving yards? Doing anything against some defenses in AAA is hard to do. I looked after I posted this and found a good link on the MUS site: http://www.tnsuper7.com/
  10. my b yall. no harm done by a few words. back off now . just gotta represent
  11. Jason Hall out of McCallie gets a safety for the Vols and then within five minutes Ryan Karl out of BGA recovers a muffed punt. Again, D2 produces the best athletes in the state.
  12. It's going to be really weird to watch this game on turf. I like the Brothers' chances against BA or McCallie with MUS and MBA wearing each other down.
  13. I would have liked seeing the middle TN team win. How much better was Harris than the combo of Ford and White tonight?
  14. if cbhs makes a serious run at things in the playoffs mosby and harris have great chances. hopefully more middle tn sports writers will vote than in recent years. snyder and harris could be really productive in the next few weeks.
  15. Baylor beat MUS last year. When Baylor beat MBA in '02 Courtney Braswell ran for 306 yards on something like 12 carries(seriously). They had a huge line then and with McClendon it seems like they've got a huge one now. Hopefully they don't have a back like Braswell right now. 26-14 MBA. Is the game being carried on radio?
  16. 119wrestler: This isn't wrestling. McClendon doesn't need to be the most fit player on the field to stay on the whole time and still be the best. He can take plays off and still make people look silly. Good teams are good because they find ways around him... Do any Baylor folks know if McClendon is still firm on his committment to UT? It'd be nice to see him go some place where players actually reach their full potential.
  17. No, I skipped it and walked around campus with my shirt untucked instead. Uh oh. Is Baylor still a team that likes to run the ball with an emphasis on defense also? I don't think MBA has played against a guy like McClendon since King Dunlap(BA) or John Ingram(Knox Webb) except for in practices the last few years when Birdsong was there.
  18. This is one of the D2 matchups I'd love to see. I see BA winning late in the game
  19. Current Vandy kicker Bryant Hahnfeldt needed to make a game winner last year when MBA and Baylor met in the playoffs. These games are always close and very competitive. I have just come to expect MBA teams to show up when it matters. With playoff seeds on the line and a possible week off at stake I would be really surprised to say the least if Baylor pulled a win off. Off topic, did anyone see former BA kicker John Vaughn go a whopping 1-6 against LSU on ESPN Saturday night? He single handedly lost them the game. The propensity to lose big games doesn't leave BA people after they graduate I guess.
  20. MBA will run the ball away from McClendon. MBA will probably have to open up the passing game a little bit though. I dunno if there is a huge difference in the Howe who was getting eaten up against MUS in the playoffs last year and the one today. Baylor would be smart to pressure the heck out of him. Baylor won't do anything if they don't stop Snyder.
  21. the clinic bowl is now a game held at the beginning of the year. this year mba played byrnes at vandy on august 20 to open the season.
  22. listening to the game online in the 3rd quarter. i'm hearing the infamous a.j. buniak being called a lot. hahaha bumiak made the right choice going to mccallie. snyder ripped a 40 yarder off on the mccallie defense and he and johnson got them down to the red zone. carney got in the endzone from 6 yards out. i was surprised to see so many people predicting 20 plus points on this mba defense. this senior class has had an attitude since they got on the hill in 7th grade and i really don't see them folding to some chattanooga boys on their senior night.
  23. Tate will end up in the SEC or ACC no doubt. It would be a shame to see Fulmer get his hands on him though....it seems he brings all the talent in the world to Knoxville and gets nothing out of it except a littany of police reports. I am a diehard D2 football fan and it's players like Tate that make D2 what it is. Put him at slot receiver/wing back/dback at ANY school in the state against ANY school in the state and he would make plays. I saw Tate play every Saturday in 8th grade and he was clearly among the top three players in the parochial league. I'm sure Urban Meyer will be looking into his services, that system would be a nice fit for his style. What position does Tate play for Coach Popovich's baseball team over at JP2? He was a treat to watch when he got on base last year, very Kenny Lofton-esque.
  24. ESPN.COM has a link on the college football section that mentions the top freshman performers this year and BA's turner was listed as a one that deserves mention. most the top 12 were offensive players on highly ranked teams.
  25. what's with all these BA people bashing ryan's efforts over the last few years? frhs has excelled in other sports and now lussier is getting the school interested in football again. to claim the super seven is the super six because ryan has lost recently is out of line. what has BA done in the super seven that ryan hasnt? lost a whole lot of title games? ryan has won a super seven crown.....what can BA say to that?
