  1. Michael, Yea, it was sarcasm, Jake could pass the ball fine, he just most often decided not to. Caleb is a point guard, he will look to give it up as often as score and I think that will be even more the case at the next level. Jake plays the 2 and wants to score. So their games are just very different.
  2. That is a difficult comparison. Jake was a more prolific scorer, over 2400 points in only 3 years and he is about 4 inches taller. Caleb is faster and quicker. Caleb will end up over 1800 points but he does other things. He had 16 assists in one game, Jake had 16 assists in his 3 year career. They will get to put it all together at the next level and that will be fun for some of us to watch. I am not so sure about the comment that Jake played on a better team is true, maybe but this years Temple group is incredibly team oriented and much because of the leadership of its seniors, but I guess we will have to wait and see what they accomplish in the end.
  3. The guys at Temple take our hats off to you, good job. You are a more than worthy opponent and better than that, a fine young man.
  4. A few clarifications: First of all, one fan got tossed for telling Sean Wadley that he was going to meet him in the parking lot and "kill him". The ref heard it and reacted. Second, part of the reason Temple shot so many free throws is that we went to our stall to pull the Owls out of their zone and make them foul us, which they did. While it is true Temple had an extreme advantage at the line, the purposed fouling accounts for most of that. Third, has anyone ever heard of a coach getting ejected WITHOUT technicals called? Fourth, I have no idea what the rest of the fans got tossed for, but it should be said that the Ooltewah players held themselves with class. Our guys said there was no trash talking, no cheap shots just good hard basketball against a very good team. Fifth, I agree with Michael about being good winners as well as good losers. However, I am very confident that the stupid things being said on here are NOT from our players, but some of our younger, immature fans. Our guys know that the Owls are very good and we got a lot out of playing this game. Sixth, we would love to see Ooltewah make some noise in their tournament. Best to coach and his team.
  5. Gomab, This is Jacob, and Caleb's dad. I hope to clear this up so that your name and word is not being called into question. This is what I know: I was contacted by a coach of the Ballerz sometime after Temple won their first state championship, Jacob's junior year. The coach wanted Jacob to play for the Ballerz. He was a gentleman, professional, kind and we had a very good conversation. I think it has been assumed that the coach I spoke with was you. I have no idea what the gentleman's name was, it was too long ago. We decided not to play with the Ballerz for family reasons. But no one was snubbed or whatever other word was used. Again, I don't know who I spoke to, but it was a very positive conversation. I hope this clears things up.
  6. I can settle this question once and for all. We watched the tape, and when Caleb caught the pass, it does look like his foot on step two hits the floor before the ball did...but it was so close and a 50/50 call and at that speed an easy miss if it was a travel. The hanging on the rim thing is not even an issue, wasn't even close. It was a pretty nice dunk for a 6'1" kid.
  7. Gomab, Let's shoot straight. WilliamFC might be bias, no problem, but you have to admit that you are just as bias. I asked you a series of questions when the season started and you refused to answer one of them that I asked twice and that was how many times you have seen Skogen play? And, if the only time you saw him was at the state tourny last year...So how many times have you seen him play? You are making your judgments about Bailey vs. Skogen on YOUR bias. HOwever, there is nothing wrong with that, just don't accuse someone else of doing what YOU are doing. I personally have no problem with you saying that it is your bias, we all have them. Bailey is very good and he and Skogen play different positions. However, Skogen is faster, handles the ball better, jumps better, gets to the hole better and has more athleticism. Anyone who watched them on the floor last night would have to agree whether they like him or not. Bailey is a better pure shooter and would run the two better than the one. Webb is obviously putting up the W's and the numbers, he might be the best, but I find your criticisms of Skogen's game and comparisons that you make to be short-sighted IF, and I am saying IF, you are basing them on seeing him play once or twice.
  8. WilliamFC, great post. You hit it on the nose. Valley already ruined CCS's homecoming and will come armed to do the same to Temple. Valley has the weapons and the attitude to beat Temple if Temple isn't ready to play. I am quite confident that Temple is aware of this and knows that Valley is a formidable foe.
  9. I am quite confident that the players at Temple and Pickett are not the ones on here shooting off their mouth. Players on great teams have a mutual respect for one another and these two programs are far too classy to have guys saying the kind of ridiculous things that are on here. Pickett is a great team with a great tradition and every year they put one of the best single A teams in the state on the court. Temple does the same. This will be a great game, there will be mutual respect, class, great coaching and the best entertainment you can find for a Friday night.
  10. My comments are mainly for "ih8tntemple". I also WAS there when Coach Wadley handed the trophy to the Grace player, I was right there, a foot away from the entire thing. And the "story" that is on here propagated by ih8tntemple, is just that, a story. It is simply a fabriacation. Coach Wadley handles defeat as well or better than any coach I have seen. I am not saying he likes it, who does, but this story impunes his character and by necessity needs to stop. Also, if I read the post correctly no one said you didn't take a charge, I think the comment was in the context of Caleb being a baby and you saying that he was crying. Being close to the family I have been to all of Caleb's games and was at that one as well, so again your exaggeration might be funny to you but funny and factual are not the same thing. It is human nature, sinful as that nature is, to put down others so that you can look better. All of the attention that you pay to Caleb and all of the name calling says volumes about his game and more than likely your envy. But that's ok, I am sure you are good at something too.
  11. Skitwit or whatever his name is has every right to be on here as the rest of us do and he is entitled to his opinion. I too think he is a bit of a nusance but he does, in his ignorance, make me laugh. Please don't tell him to stop, he provides great bulliten board material for anyone playing PC. As to the CCS/Temple game, everyone at Temple knows that this will not be like last time. Not one player takes CCS for granted, they offer problems that are difficult to deal with. Not to mention they will be fired up after losing a close homecoming game. Coach Salter is a very good coach and will have his team ready to play. Temple must be ready as well.
  12. Bring it on! For you to say that Temple is overrated is absurd. You just bring your two man show down here and we will see. But you should know that you have just added fire to an already burning furnance. Thanks.
  13. Grace has some very good players and a very good coach. They believe in themselves and play their roles extremely well. Everyone knows who is suppose to shoot and everyone means, everyone, Grace and their opponants. Grace will be jacked up to play Temple, it will always be that way and therefore anything can happen. Eldridge and Parshall will need to shoot very well and if they do it will be a very good game.
  14. ballforever, I am truly sorry. He is a very good player and although he might not have been the leading scorer I would argue that he was the MVP of that team. As one who competes against Grace, this is not good news. However, I am confident that you will still be a strong team, too many good players and expect you guys to challenge for a spot at the 'boro.
  15. Hey Grace fans, Is it or is it not true that Nick Van Horn moved to NY? The rumors are flying and we need someone to set the whole thing straight. Some say he went to NY to visit his day for Thanksgiving...others that he moved there for good. Which is it? Or is it neither??? I can't imagine he would leave such a great program and a great team with so much to look forward to this year! So someone give us the facts!
  16. Tommorrow night McCallie plays Temple and it got me to thinking: What are the best high school rivalries in the truest sense of the what that means. McCallie and Temple will play each other twice this year as they always do. And the sportsmanship in these games over the years has been outstanding. There is mutual respect player to player and the coaches are both good men who respect each other greatly and the games are a war. 0When all is said and done, the players still have respect for each other and give props for their opponents as they should and the coaches hang out together. It is what makes high school bb what it should be. What are some of the other great competitions to watch?
  17. bergil24, Caleb dropped 33 on you in 3 quarters...3-6 behind the arc, 8 assists and that's not impressive to you? You need to think WHY you were in foul trouble, he was 9-10 from the charity stripe because you guys kept fouling him when he blew by you. If 33 in 3 quarters doesn't impress...then what do YOU need? And a question: Why did you leave your starters in the whole game, down 27 and then only press when Temple had their bottom 5 in? Was it that important for the score to "look good"?
  18. Bailey had 28 but how many did he shoot? 4 threes out of how many attempts? Is he as good as the hype?
  19. I heard that Grace got beat in a scrimmage by East Ridge on Saturday, is there any truth to that? Does anyone know the details? Temple is still working out some of the kinks and is a bit up and down, but bb is played for February and March, so we will see.
  20. Gomab, I totally disagree with whoever it is that is saying all this crud. In fact I disagree so much that my concern is that you need to be a bit MORE careful. I think you have a great deal of influence. I have been all over the state for about 6 years watching games and listening to people talk about the talent in Tn. Your name gets brought up all the time. People respect you and so with that respect comes responsibility. I think you are right to say that folks get upset when you don't rank "their guy" as high as they think you should, I know I have been there myself. However, I think you need to be very careful and at times just say that you are not sure because you haven't seen so and so play all that much to evaluate his game thoroughly. Nothing wrong with saying you need more info. But your posts are a few of the intelligent ones on here even if I don't agree and that is what makes this fun. Thanks for your work.
  21. I would like to say congrats to Jeff. I have watched him grow up and he has developed into a good player and a good young man, I hope he is successful. I too was at the scrimmage and granted Jeff did not play well, but that was one scrimmage. I have noticed on these discussion, people will make judgements on a player that they have seen once or twice and act as though their opinion is gospel. I don't think that is wise. Jeff has a new coach, (and a very good one at that) and a new system. He will be fine.
  22. SD Free Baller, If you check the stats in the paper you would see that Temple throws the ball under 30 times a game, not 45-50. In fact if you want to be precise they throw it 29.6 Kevin had to sit a year at Rhea and is just now coming in to his own. He did throw too many picks early but in the last two games is 7 touches with 0 picks. He also runs the option extremely well and with his size 6'3" 210 is very physical. He deserves to be mentioned with the best in the city right now, and has barely started to scratch the potential. BTW-Drew Akin is not the best QB in the area, not even in the top 5. BUT, he is the best leader in the area and if you want to talk about who knows how to win, there is no one to better. But as far as pure QBing? Nope. Don't get me wrong, wherever he went he would play you can't keep that kind of competetor off the field!
  23. Gradfromthenest, You are right, it was in the 4th that Seth Skogen had his last touch, but it was at the 11:34 mark of the 4th and it was on a simple dive play off tackle. There was no running up the score on purpose. The coaches were waiting for SAS to take out their #1 defense so they could put in the back-ups, which by the way never happened, the #1's stayed in throughout the 4th. But neither Skogen touched the ball after the 11:34 mark in the 4th. The Temple guys were pretty miffed at your comments at practice, and in fact you kind of fired them up, so I guess maybe "thank you" is in order. They are more determined than ever, although if I understand them correctly, they were asking the coaches to run Seth and through to Caleb throughout the entire fourth...just for you. BTW-apology accepted.
  24. A few more comments are in order, just to get the FACTS straight, since many of those writing don't know them. To Gradfromthenest: "A good respectable coach would get them out..." "It doesn't take a coaching mastermind to pull them when you are up 50..." "But I better not see a Skogen touch the ball in the fourth..." First, a good respectable coach doesn't run down other coaches especially when they have not done their homework. AND, they WERE out. Second, Temple has never been up 50 in a game this year. Temple has scored twice in the second half of both the games that were a bit lopsided. Just like Boyd scored twice in the second half of a 59-0 win at Whitwell. I suppose you better tell Coach Akins that he is not respectable either. Third, what say to YOU have in whether a Skogen touches the ball in the fourth or any other quarter? Last, I too will be at the game, love to talk to you if you want. Sergeantowl22: No one has run up the score, see above. Starters are not in the whole game. Your just wrong. Temple. had 63 points scored on them and did not belly-ache one bit about having the score run up. AND Temple has nothing but respect for Ooltewha, Soddy, McCallie Baylor and others, and doesn't pretend to be what they are, rather, Temple is trying to be what Temple is. Biggestelk: No one cares what the parents are rumbling about in the stands. The parents know that the coaches at Temple have an open door and they can go and talk whenever they want. But coaches can't worry about the parents. And by the way if you a kid 6'2" who runs a 4.4 consisently, would you go to him?
