  1. Yes, I have been to both games. The objective in the 3-5 is for the lineman to free up the linebackers to make plays. I've seen players in position to make the tackle almost every play, then get ran over. Too much arm tackling.
  2. Slim, please tell you're going to bring some muffins to the game Friday. We've all heard of eating crow, but I think this time some Blueberry Muffins would be more appropriate. So bake you up about a dozen so you can eat your words after the game. Cosby 28 Muffins 17 Slim Jimmy 0
  3. Pigeon Forge has suffered two uninspiring loses. Will the "Mighty" Tigers show some character and pride against Rutledge or will they tank again...Opinions please!!!
  4. I would like to have a definition of what "muffin" football is. I'd also be interested in knowing how many of the people who say Cosby plays "muffin" football has actually seen them on the field this year. I don't know, sounds like some bulletin board material to me...2-0 and still know respect from football experts like Slim Jim. ? . . .
  5. With such a fabulous coaching staff, I don't see how Cosby could lose. Good luck this week, let me know how it goes. <-- ninja
  6. Let's hear everyone's opinions. Do the PF Tigers rebound, or will Meigs County pull this one out? Oh yeah, Meigs is having a pre-game BBQ
  7. I think the point was...It could be interesting...it's clearly stated in the post BIG MO is always a factor in football games and PFHS has the edge there. If PF can keep the AE atheletes from getting outside, this will be a good game.
  8. I know it's a little late to turn things around under normal circumstances, but if the 450 yard + output against Gibbs is any indication LOOK OUT FOR PIGEON FORGE!!! The defense continues to be impressive and now it seems this lackluster offense is going to match this championship 'D' with an explosive passing attack to create a team that can do some damage in the playoffs. AhHmm you listening to this Sanders? (Randy that is)
  9. As anyone can tell you who saw the Gibbs game, Pigeon Forge can throw the ball all of the sudden...Where did that come from and why haven't they been doing that all year? THE PASS SETS UP THE RUN AND THE RUN SETS UP THE PASS
  10. These games are the reasons you watch football!!! Middle of the year and you know the season is on the line. I'll be at this game early...D-B's pregame has got to be the best in HS football. (walking the field with the band playing the war-chant) And I really, really hate to admit it but I'm kinda looking foward to the D-B band...very impressive. As for the game...put any talent in the hands of SC's coaching staff and I say your in for a fight. The Bears will have the best game plan possible, what will make the difference is if they execute. SC's wins over D-B seems to always come in the upset form and that's what I'm calling Friday night...By the way, definately come to the game through Newport (lock your doors) NO TRAFFIC!!!
  11. Oh I almost forgot...TAKE THE THREE, KICK THE FIELD GOAL, DON'T GO FOR ON 4TH AND GOAL FROM THE 5!!!
  12. If the Tigers play anything like they did against BFE High last week, it could get ugly. The days of winning football with a one dementional attack (especially one that doesn't work) are over. I watched Union County stack 9 men in the box and leave one on one press coverage on the wideouts, and PFHS play caller didn't take advantage of it. The Tiger D will be stingy and agressive as always, but you can't be on the field 90% of the time and not give up a few points. I hope the offense can put up enough points to help the D, but don't expect to see that if you only see passing on third and long situations. You have to have some kind of balance...FYI, running plays can set up the pass, and passing plays can set up the run, but there must be some rhyme or reason to the play calling!!!
  13. Eddie, I know that Wally and The Beave's parents would never let them think they are better than they are and deserve more playing time than they get. No, June Cleaver keeps it real. June would be supportive of the role they played and would expect the highest effort out of Wally and The Beave no matter what that role may be. Yes, I know youth football is on Saturdays. You see, the topic was about high school football as you may since this website is about nothing but high school football. My example of coaches playing talent and not parents or politics came from youth sports, where all this tom foolery with parents begin. My point is... 9 times out of 10 the upset parent's child doesn't play because he/she is simply not the best player to have on the field. The 1 time out of 10 is a coach that will soon be fired. Eddie, give Ward, June, Wally and The Beave my best!
  14. First of all, GOOD LORD CAN WE PUNCTUATE A SENTENCE CORRECTLY, AND SPEAK IN A LANGUAGE THAT WOULDN"T MAKE AN ENGLISH TEACHER PUKE! That is actually directed at all replies on this subject and not just the quote it is tied to. I'm pretty sure there were some teacher/coaches mixed in there and that is pretty scary. Now to the subject at hand. I have coached a youth sports team and was sired from a coaching genius so I am pretty much an expert on the subject. My coach in basically every sport I played (my father), played talent and not politics or parents. How do I know? Because I stunk at everything and I sat the bench. He was very close to my other parent (his wife), although that did not have any influence on my playing time. As I noted before, I stunk. He also went to church with, worked with, and/or lived near every kid's parents who he coached. The good players played, and the terrible players sat on the bench with his son (me). All the parents thought their (<-- correct use of their) sons were quality athletes and should have a lot of playing time, but they (<-- correct use of they) were wrong. Sometimes it is all they can do to make the team. They (myself included, because as noted I stunk) contribute to the team by making the team better in practice. More often than not the players know and understand this role and it is the parents that have a hard time dealing with this reality. A good coach will reward these players with playing time whenever possible. He/she realizes it takes all 50+ on the team to win on Fridays no matter how they contribute to the team. Don't take it personal if your kid doesn't play a lot. There is usually a good reason that you may not see or understand.
  15. Let me just say that this 5-A school (Sevier County) has no business having any trouble with the Eagles...but as usual, in a grudge match like this one all bets will be off. SCHS wins but I don't have the guts to call a score because this game never goes as expected!!! I am brave enough to say SCHS rooolllllleeeeddddd through the #8 (OVERRATED) team in the state, and Seymour may be standing in the path of a freight train headed straight toward 1st place of the BIG EAST...look out Eagles, getting hit by a train usually hurts!!!
  16. GP better invest in some good mouth pieces before the '06 season. If that game is anything like this year's they will be picking teeth out of the turf all night. I've never seen a team be so physically dominated as I did in this one. PF only gets more experienced with time and this young team doesn't lose anybody. I'm thinking this rivalry took a turn toward a major trend this year. Maybe if GP drops another Classification they could just avoid the Tigers altogether. If nothing else I'm sure the game was good for local dentist...How much does a new set of teeth cost these days anyhow?
  17. Everybody always has more speed than Sevier County...But the best coaching staff in the state seems to always make up for that.
  18. I'm calling Pigeon Forge in a low scoring game. Why, I don't know...sounds better than saying I'm the mother of a football player and then picking them to lose. I'd hate to be that kid..."Son I love you, but let's be realistic, you're not going to amount to much!" If PFHS plays with the same intensity as they did against GP they could beat anyone on their schedule.
