  1. congrats to seth skogen. of course the grace people don't like it that their guy wasnt nominated, but im sure there are fans from tons of teams that felt they shouldve had a player nominated. of course grace fans have the OPINION that their guy shouldve been nominated over seth, but everyone has opinions. the FACT is the media experts that do this EVERY year felt like seth was deserving. for the biased fan to say that he KNOWS for a fact a player on his team is better than a player on another team is just silly because number 1 he is biased, and number 2, he is not an expert. i cant say that i KNOW seth skogen is better than davis eldridge b/c i realize that im biased and im not an expert. what i do know is this: both are GREAT players, (and i think u should throw van horn in too). so all THREE are GREAT players. all THREE would have been/ are deserving of any awards/nominations they get. lets not take anything away from any of these great players awards/nominations/accomplishments by over emphasizing our own individual OPINIONS. so congratulations to seth on the nomination, and congratulations to davis eldridge on the district regular season mvp award. both players are truly deserving of these great honors.
  2. The nominations aren't decided until tourney time (i believe), which is the right thing to do. there are SOOOOOOO many good players in the state, that it would be wrong to decide early or mid way through the season. Naturally, fans of a certain school are going to think that their players are better/ deserve it more than players of another school. we have to take these statements at what they really are though.....OPINION......not fact. for myself or any other biased fan to think we KNOW who the best player is (or even top 3), when we haven't even seen 95 percent of the players in the state play, would be silly. saying that we KNOW who WONT be nominated from a certain area, when we're naturally biased toward players on our team, is just as crazy. there are SOOOOOOO many good players in the state. good luck to all the teams and players. may the best ones win.
  3. agreed. congrats to csas on a great win. they are a good team, and an AWESOME team at their place. losing by 2 to grace and beating temple by 5 is not too shabby. congrats to csas. hopefully temple can make this loss a positive by learning from it. im sure our guys will work hard to learn from this game. i believe they will be ready come next friday for a HUGE district game. stay focused guys and keep working hard. go temple.
  4. I dont think region 2 will have 2 teams in state. Cosby SHOULD definately make it there. they are the only superpower in that region, however. they beat rockwood by like 25 i believe, and rockwood is probably the next best team in that region. im not saying rockwood isnt good, b/c they are. it takes an awesome team to win a substate game on the road and region 1 has pretty consistent in getting at least one team to murfreesboro every year.
  5. is this game at mchs or whitwell?
  6. for all the people saying grace isnt well coached, you are sadly mistaken. their coach has taken this program from mediocre to state contender. I'm not saying hes perfect, but neither are other coaches in the area. Every team is going to have off games. 18-4 with the tough schedule grace has played is not bad at all.
  7. coach t, i have always been a fan of your rankings b/c they rank a team simply based on numbers (and numbers aren't biased). I have some questions/comments about them. where can i email you? keep up the good work.
  8. I think Cosby should be ranked number 1 simply b/c they are the only team in class A w/ only one loss. Grace should be ranked number 2 b/c they beat Temple, and Temple should be third.
  9. all of the temple ppl didnt go into hiding after grace beat us the second time. i personally congratulated grace on these boards, and i know of at least one or two other temple fans who did the same. i think oldtime was just mentioning that mccallie beating grace was an upset b/c this board is about upsets. he wasnt taking a shot at grace or anything like that (or at least it doesnt come across that way). we all know grace beat us, and that until proven otherwise they are the team to beat in this region. thats cool. im proud of temple. i think our guys (and girls) are doing very well. go temple.
  10. first things first. i am a HUGE temple fan and i wanna say congratulations to grace on another huge victory over the crusaders. grace is the team to beat in this region until proven otherwise because they have proved it on the court (twice), just like IMO middleton is the team to beat in class A state wide until another class A team beats them b/c they won the title last year. temple played with alot of heart and should be very proud of their effort as well. both teams are VERY SOLID and losing to a team of this magnitude is nothing to hang your head about. so congrats to BOTH teams. next, i just wanna express my thoughts about something that has been bothering me. I have ALOT of respect for Grace and its fans (including the ones on here), so i know you guys didn't mean anything by it but TTU is NOT a HOME game for temple. when grace plays temple this year, they are playing AT temple twice (once reg season, once district tourney), supposed to play at a neutral site (TTU) twice (best of preps and region tourneys) and at grace once. it ended up being at ttu 3 times though (assuming grace and temple play 5 times). playing at ttu is NOT an advantage for temple b/c the high school does not play in that gym any more than grace or other teams who participate in these tournaments do. the fact that it happens to be next door to the hs gym doesnt make it a home court advantage either b/c both teams are in the chattanooga area so neither team loses fans that might not have come for traveling reasons. (its just what 10 or 15 mins from grace). if temple (or grace for that matter) were playing a team from memphis at TTU, it WOULD be more of a home court advantage b/c of the traveling distance. what grace did was gave up home court advantage for a neutral site. yeah that is a factor in the game, but not as big of a factor as giving up home court for the other teams home court. grace chose to play the game at a neutral site so more fans could come, and thats their right to choose. someone mentioned earlier about the next temple grace game being played at UTC and i think that would be awesome. personally, i hope temple moves the game, but i think for financial reasons (it would cost too much), it wont happen. i would love it though. please dont take any of this wrong, i dont mean any of it bad, it just kinda bothers me when ppl think temple has an unfair advantage b/c ppl say they play grace at HOME 4 or 5 times when most of those are actually at neutral sites. next. we can all make excuses. i KNOW temple fans feel like refs dont like them, and i KNOW people who play against temple feel like refs let temple get away w/ everything. the fact is, refs are unbiased, and even though there may be some bad calls, over time it evens out. i dont think temple or grace fans should take anything away from the other team by saying "oh we just didnt play as well as we could" or "oh the refs arent fair", etc. the best teams bring their best to the big games and the best teams find a way to win the big games. Grace won tonight, so they were the best team tonight. period. Congratulations again to both teams, and Great Game Grace. you beat us, you deserve props, just like i would want you guys to give us props if we beat you. great job to both teams.
  11. Close game no doubt. Whichever team wants it more will win. good luck to both teams and Go Temple. any of you other temple guys know whats going on with Vespie? I haven't seen him in the last couple box scores. Also, is Joey Skogen back, and is he a key reserve? I didn't see the Sexton guy in Coach T's roster list. Do any of you guys have the full roster. I was just wondering who the fifth starter is if Vespie is out, and who the key reserves are and everything. Unfortunately I havent been able to see any games yet. I hope to be able to see tomorrows game.
  12. district 6 shockers: 1. Lookout Valley loses to 21st Century 2. CSAS gets blown out by Grace. (most of us thought the game would be close) 3. South Pittsburg gets whipped by 21st Century. (SP had 3 starters suspended...but still leaves some serious question marks about the depth of the team) 4. CSAS takes Howard (AA) to OT after getting blown out by Grace. This district has been shaken up to say the least. I am still going to stick with my pick for SP to win the district this year. I believe when they have all of their players, they can beat any team in their district. I also think that the team may wind up being better as a result of these 3 guys being suspended for that game. Sometimes it takes something drastic to get a team focused. 1. South Pittsburg 2. CSAS 3. Lookout Valley 4. Sale Creek 5. Whitwell 6. Hardy What does everyone else think?
  13. just so everyone knows, i am not from whitwell, south pitt, or marion. im actually a temple fan and a guy who just love hs basketball in general. in my opinion, the warrior fan is right.........the school says marion county, so call it that.........its really not a big deal. :justwrestle: whitwell and sp fans should be cool w/ that in my opinion b/c its just a name. as an outsider, (someone not associated w/ eihter of the 3 schools), i dont think any less of whitwell or sp b/c they are named by the city instead of the county. now lets talk about sp. ive said before and ill say again, they are probably the most TALENTED class A team in the chatt area. great team with alot of potential, and they are my favorites to win district 6. now lets talk about whitwell. i saw a couple of their games last year b/c i had heard they got a new coach, and yes he is a very good coach. basketball is just like any other sport. when you are terrible for so long, it takes a few years to turn it around. lets not give the whitwell people a hard time b/c they are excited about having a good coach. i think all 3 teams in the county are improving and on their way up. great win for sp tonight. robinson is an awesome player.
  14. id like to say congrats to grace on a HUGE convincing win. im not a grace OR csas fan, im actually a temple fan........so im actually a rival of grace. wow, they looked impressive though. give credit where credit is due.........thats Biblical. congrats to grace and temple both. great win for both teams.
  15. yeah great job guys. it was a great win. proud to be a crusader. great job to grace as well. talk about representing 5-a, grace blew out csas. wow i thought the game would be close.
  16. Grace IS very good, and they MAY beat temple, just like temple may beat them. The game will be very close, however. Neither team will "kill" the other team.if you think it will be a blowout, you dont know very much about these two teams. Go temple.
  17. there is NO way sale creek will make it to state this year..........they are 4th in their DISTRICT at best. only top 2 in REGION qualify for substate games.
  18. is that freshman cook related to jon cook (former ccs star)?
  19. the only reason mt. juliet is 5-1 is b/c they haven't played anybody good yet. trust me they are not the 14th best team in the state.
  20. i believe it is at home. we have been playing mccallie twice a year the past few seasons, i believe. we play them later in the season at mccallie as well. both games will be close.
