When a player is ejected he is SUPPOSED to remain on the bench for the duration of the contest, no matter the sport. The intent of this rule is to ensure that the student is under adult supervision at all times.

Is there any type of penalty for a fan who is ejected from a TSSAA sanctioned basketball game? Are they permitted to attend a game at the same site the next night? Is there a fine (I doubt it, even from the T$$AA)? Anyone who KNOWS, please advise. Thanks.

This is a little bit off topic, but WHY is Moore Co. playing Riverside Christian this week? What could they POSSIBLY gain from beating up on such a weak opponent? Just curious, absolutely no dog in the fight. Saw the schedule and thought it was a misprint.

No. I found out who it was last night. He is from Shelbyville, and is actually an employee of the Beford Co. school system. He has the reputation as a very competent official in both basketball and softball. He may have just made a mistake on this play. It happens.

There is one more thing that should be considered here. The ball is in the glove, and the AWESOME picture appears to show that the ball is in the glove before the runner got to the plate. My question is, did this happen because the runner had to SLOW DOWN because of where the catcher was standing. If the runner did slow down, then that could be interpreted as having her progress impeded. If progress is impeded and there is contact, which is obviously the case, then obstruction should be called. I'm guessing that if the obstruction call had not been made, the offensive coaches and fans would be the ones posting their complaints on here. I just really wish I had been there, as other posters have said. I think I understand both sides of the argument here. We should all remember that all the umpires do is try to get the call correct, and they are not perfect. The call may have been missed, but I would certainly bet that it was not on purpose. How much longer did the game last because of that call? If the umpire simply wanted to go home, would that call have ever crossed his mind. I did look at the Shelbyville paper online and saw that there were THIRTY-TWO hits in the game, but the box score was not listed. Were there any errors? If so, did any of those errors cost either team any runs? If so, then it sounds to me like no one in Wartrace had a perfect night, except for maybe the young lady from Richland who hit the homers in both the 8th and the 9th innings. Wow! At any rate, I think I'll stop writing and just read what everyone else has to say from now on. Thanks.

Cascade11, Sound like a controversy to me. I read a lot on coacht and post very little, and usually laugh at several of your posts. before I give an opinion on this one though, I have two questions. Was the catcher standing on home plate waiting on the throw? Did the runner have access to the plate without having to slide? (There is no slide rule in softball) When I read your answer, I'll let you know whether the umpire was right or wrong.

Shelbyville won 8-7 on a 2-out bases loaded single up the middle in the bottom of the 8th inning by Shelby Lamb. Tullahoma'a starting pitcher had to leave the game in the bottom of the 8th after being hit by a line drive off the bat of Kayla Warren. It was a good game, but the time of game was two hours and 33 minutes. Yikes! I hope the young lady from Tullahoma is OK.

The Cascade Lady Champions opened their 2009 campaign with a 6-2 (not 7-3 as listed on the scoreboard) win over Moore County. It was a typical early season game with lots of errors and lots of missed scoring chances for both teams. Congrats to Ralph Edwards on his first win as a head softball coach.

The score is WRONG on the scoreboard. CCHS won the game 49-46 due to THS going into the stall game too early.

The district that BGA plays in is cancelled for today. They are trying to arrange things so they can play tomorrow beginning at 1:00.

Riverdale won 2 and lost one today. Beat Parkersburg South, WV 8-3 Lost to Warner Valley, PA 4-3 (had two runners thrown out at the plate) Beat St. Bede's IL 14-0 (I think)

I know of no one person with more class than Coach Kathy Dye. May God bless her in her future endeavors!

Prediction: Finals will be Riverdale vs. Brentwood. Pitching for both of these squads is AWESOME!!!!!!!

If the personal foul is a shooting foul, the free throws are shot in the order that they occur. Two free throws for the personal, then go to the other end and shoot 2 for the T and give the ball to the team that shoots the free throws for the T. If the personal is a non-shooting foul, go to other end and shoot 2 for the T and give the shooting team the ball. If there happened to be a DOUBLE technical, no FTs are shot for the T and you resume play from what is called the point of interruption from the personal foul. Hope this helps.

I believe the flagrant foul was called first, just reported after the technicals. Two officials stayed between the players while the official who called the double technical went to the table after he was beckoned by the scorekeeper. The flagrant foul was for the takedown of the Ezell player. Period.

The Ezell kid was given a technical foul for his involvement, as was the the CC kid that shoved him. The player who was ejected was ejected for the two-handed body slam he put on the Ezell kid. All of this was simply a product of a 1-and-whatever season and the frustration that comes with it.

Who knows?!? He cries and whines more than anyone I've ever seen. He's been teed up more than Tiger Woods' Nike golf ball!!

MC 72 LC 66 A very ragged but hard fought basketball game. MC led by 17 at the half, then LC pulled to within 63-62 in the 4th quarter but couldn't get over the hump. The 26 points LC allowed in the first quarter was too much to overcome.

Wasn't trying to place blame. Just an observation. They shot the ball great, as 12-21 would indicate. A couple of costly turnovers at the end of the game that ultimately made the difference in my opinion.

Skyline nailed a line drive 3-pointer at the buzzer to beat Huntland at the Battle of the Borders. This was kind of a rugged game that really picked up the tempo in the second half. Almost a shame someone had to lose, but Huntland's guards couldn't handle the pressure at the end of the game. Skyline won the game 76-73 after being down 40-30 at the half.
