  1. I have not seen Nashville Christian play but coming in 2nd in their district is quite an accomplishment. Van Buren seems to run hot and cold and I don't mean from game to game. I mean from quarter to quarter within a game. Playing with intensity for 4 complete quarters needs to be the focus point for the Eagles. If they do this, the game Tuesday night will be interesting. A message to my good "coacht" friend who has had a rough time as of lately. I hope everything works out for you. I will keep you in my prayers.
  2. Since the cancellation of Saturday's District 9A games does anyone have the times and dates of the boy's games? Please include all rounds if possible. I checked the dates posted on CoachT and it shows the boys and girls both playing on the same day. Information will be appreciated.
  3. Speaking of throwing up prayers, what about the three pointer off the backboard. Van Buren did not shoot free throws that great either. The prayer that sent the game into overtime was all net with a defensive man from Clay County chest to chest with the shooter. Van Buren played to a 5 point loss on Clay's home court and won by 5 at Van Buren. Maybe Van Buren have a little something to do with the outcomes of both games.
  4. Van Buren won and I am sure I saw the Clay County bus in the parking lot.
  5. As of late last night (2/12) the game is still on. Quite a bit more snow on the mountain than in the valley. Main roads all in good condition. Some of the side roads might have a little snow/ice left on them. To all Clay County fans coming to the game, be careful driving and have a safe trip to and from the game.
  6. So if your pg had played it would have been a close game?
  7. I ask the same question again. When Pickett beat Van Buren by 1 at their home gym was the team sick then? Same games situation in both games. Pickett leads by a good margin in first half. (1st game Pickett ahead 28 - 14) then in 2nd half Van Buren outscores Pickett Co. and ends up losing by 1. Game at Van Buren, Pickett was leading then Van Buren outscores them in the second half by about 15 points or so and wins. Both games followed the same pattern. A team beats you on their home court and loses to you at your homecourt by 1 point. They only reason you lose was sickness? A least give a little credit or claim sickness in both games. If any this is not fact please state what is incorrect.
  8. Please tell the coach that I am truly sorry for his loss. I pray for comfort and peace for him and his family. From a Van Buren Fan to a Cascade Fan - Sometimes when we step back and see the big picture our personal views are a little more clear. We see what is really important. Good luck Friday.
  9. It was a very entertaining game. You are correct about both teams and coaches being great representatives of their schools and communities Friday night. It is great to be able to enjoy a game without players, coaches, or fans spoiling the event by their actions. After seeing the Cascade teams, coaches, and fans twice this year I believe they are a class act. My prayers are with both coaches and the families. Look forward to seeing everyone at the district tournament.
  10. Teaching basketball is a requirement of a coach. He or she gets paid for this task. Teaching life is an art and a special gift. Great coaches master both through sports. The won/loss record is being recorded in more ways than most people can imagine.
  11. What is their rating? You are right. All ratings should be based on performance not hype. So far Van Buren has played well enough to be beat some good teams, poor enough to lose to some average teams, and good enough to compete against a couple of great teams.
  12. Are you still predicting Van Buren to lose to Pickett Co?
  13. District 9A tournament is a toss-up. Forrest and Eagleville have better overall records but any of the top four teams can beat the other on any given night. Too many close games in head-to-head games to argue otherwise. They only thing the district regular season will determine is the seeds in the tournament. Forrest and Eagleville currently have the edge in wins and losses and still are fighting for the 1 seed. Cascade plays consistant and could win it all. Van Buren needs to be more consistant but will have homecourt advantage. Both teams need to win out to get the 3 seed. MTCS is the wild card team with enough talent and coaching to pull an upset. This has all the makings of a great tournament. Just the way it should be.
