  1. DOU, Thanks for the kind words. It was a tough season but these guys will bounce back. You all treated us very well when we visited Millington for the semi's last year. That was one of the most exciting games that you will ever see. It was a shame that someone had to lose. I will be rooting for you guys this year, until you meet up with a Region 6 team.
  2. Have you ever considered that the reason nobody is talking on the Indy threads any more is that you "hijack" every thread to discuss your "conspiracy" theory regarding the QB and the stats? Perhaps, if you would try letting this go, the Indy threads may be worth visiting again. Go ahead, give it a try!
  3. Cordell was the Offensive MVP. Josh Frohock from Franklin was the overall Region 6-5A MVP in 2006.
  4. Sleeper, your list is accurate except for a few changes this year. Emory Martin transferred to Samford and is ineligible this year due to NCAA transfer rules. I also understand that Scotty Hazzard and Chris Darnell are no longer playing as of this season. Not a bad # for a school with only two graduating classes.
  5. Congratulations, Great job MBA in representing Tennessee High School football to the nation! Coach McGugin and the folks at MBA are all 1st class! I find it amazing that football in Tennessee gets such little respect. Despite the complete domination of Moeller by MBA, Tom Lemming (self-proclaimed recruiting guru!), was talking up several of the Moeller kids as prospects during the game broadcast. Unless they interviewed him twice, I did not hear him mention any of the MBA players. Go figure, the team that gets dominated has more prospects! It would seem that the ability to play the game on the field should count for something but apparently does not when it comes to recruiting analysts, etc. ALL that matters to them are size, speed, strength, etc. While all are important, bottom-line is you have to be able to perform as a football player. This game is not track, weightlifting, or bodybuilding!
  6. Ryan is currently in camp and playing OLB at UTC. They have not yet updated their on-line roster with any of their FR walk on players.
  7. Heckman was outstanding as usual. Williams and Norman (transfer from Ravenwood) made several good catches. Bailey was the RB and had some good runs.
  8. Scrimmage began with JV for several series. WC was up 2 TD’s to 0 on a long pass and a pick six int. The Varsity then went at each other the rest of the way in two halves with game-like conditions using the chains but no punting. WC scored 1 TD in the first half on a long run and Indy 0 although Indy had 2 good drives that ended up in missed field goal attempts. The 2nd half was a totally different story as Indy came out and scored 3 TDs to 0 for WC. Final tally was 3-1 Indy for Varsity and 2-0 WC for JV. Indy’s offense looked very sharp in all areas especially in the 2nd half. WC has a very strong running game with some elusive RBs. Overall a good 1st scrimmage for both teams after just a few days of practice.
  9. JH, Now this is something we can agree on 100%. Jay Johnson is a great coach and more importantly, he is even a better person. The numbers don't lie and his dominance of District 11-AAA is not by accident.
  10. CHS 2007, You really need to stick to basketball comparisons. Centennial does not have a leg to stand on in a football debate or being critical of Indy considering the following: Indy has completed only their 3rd year of Varsity football competition and have beaten CHS the last two years, combined score 68-19. Indy has beaten Franklin twice, a feat that CHS has never done in their 10-plus year history. Indy has also beaten every team in Region 6 at least once which CHS has not done. Lastly, Indy went to the State Finals in their 1st year in the playoffs and CHS has never been past the 2nd round. Enough said, CHS 2007, you often make very insightful posts. However, this just doesn't happen to be one of those occasions. Stick to basketball, that is what this thread is supposed to be about anyway.
  11. That is great news for Pettigrew and Baugh! Both of these players are very deserving and great football players as well as outstanding young men. It is hard to fathom why more of the Indy players are not getting more serious attention though. Especially considering that many players on teams that Indy dominated are receiving multiple offers. I understand that Consiglio was offered by a couple of NAIA schools; not sure of the situation for the others mentioned in the post above. Seems odd that a 5A State runner-up team is not getting more respect in the recruiting world.....
  12. Correct, but this is another Tyler King, (Soph), who also happens to wear the same number.
  13. Not true. There is an exception in the "fine print" on the TSSAA site that says if two teams advance to the quarter finals from the same region, then the game is played at the home field of the higher seeded team which in this case would be IHS as the Region 6 champs. Franklin and IHS better focus on first taking care of some tough business this Friday night for this to even be an issue though.
  14. Donathan, very well stated, I could not have said it any better myself. All week long, we read the nonsense from some of the Centennial fans and then this brilliant comment. I learned a long time ago... you cannot argue with an idiot.
  15. I believe Edgemon graduated last year. #49 is Kendall Dangerfield, one of the top DL 08' prospects in TN and also plays TE. He will definitely be a force in 3A. Giles County has a very solid football team and should do well this year especially if they can develop a passing game.
  16. Donathan, Be aware that McCoin was not the Head Coach of the State Championship 2005 LA team, that team was coached by Matt Eldridge. McCoin may have been an Assistant, but I don't give that much credit after a 1-9 season as a HC. You typically do a better job than this of getting your facts straight. Head Coach of a 1-9 team is not what Indy needs. They have their man in house already, current Defensive Coordinator, Jason Eubanks. The Indy administration would be making a HUGE mistake if they do not hire him ASAP. He has the support of the returning players who will give 110% for him and he would be a stabilizing influence by keeping the offensive and defensive schemes similar to the past 3 years.
  17. I suggest opening a new thread to discuss Antioch football. This thread is supposed to be for the IHS coaching search. Thanks.
  18. A quick check of the Trinity web-site and roster shows no current Sophs. on the Varsity with the same last name that play QB or TB. Could this be a worthless rumor like the one about the All American starting safety, Skilby Davis, at Independence started on CoachT earlier this year???
  19. Let's get this thread back on topic. Below is the Region 6-5A all region team for 2006. Congratulations to all the award winners! 20. The first ever Sonic Bowl is being played at Independence High School in Thompsons's Station. Game time is set for Thur., Nov. 2nd at 6:30pm featuring Independence (7-3) vs. Overton (5-5). Both teams have a lot to prove after narrowly missing out on the playoffs with 4-3 Region records.
  21. Congratulations to the Dickson faithful on the big win over Ravenwood. Your posts are always very positive and the Dickson fans have a ton of class. Unfortunately, the Ravenwood game was the one very poor performance of the season for Indy and it cost them the playoffs due to the head-to-head tiebreaker. This Bowl game is being sponsored by Sonic and is set for Thur., Nov. 2nd at 6:30pm at Indy (7-3) vs. Overton (5-5). Both teams have a lot to prove after narrowly missing out on the playoffs with 4-3 Region records. I expect a hard fought game with both teams wanting to send their Seniors off on a high note and jump start their 2007 seasons. Good luck to both teams and to no injuries.
  22. BC, you usually have your facts correct but not this time. Region 5-5A is very confusing at this time. What happens, is Antioch is in if they beat Glencliff which should happen. The reason Overton will be left out if they beat Hillwood is because of the 3 way tie that will exist with Overton, Antioch, and the loser of the HL/Hendersonville game. (McGavock will be out because they will lose to Gallatin)Overton loses out on the tiebreaker because in the case of 3 way tie where there is no sweep involved, the 1st tiebreaker is most overrall wins which makes Antioch the 3rd seed, and then head-to-head which Overton loses to either HL or Hendersonville. It makes no difference. Bottom-line if Antioch wins, they are in and Overton is out although Overton won head-to-head vs. Antioch. Strange, but true! Hope this help!!!
  23. Donathan, Could not agree with you more! Many people questioned the Eagles heart this week and they proved them wrong tonight. They completely outplayed Brentwood on both sides of the ball and with the exception of the two TD runs, they dominated on defense. Their failure to convert opportunities in the red zone was the difference in the game. Congratulations to Brentwood though for doing what needed to be done to get the "W". Good luck to you guys in the playoffs. Brentwood demonstrated very good sportsmanship as well. I understand that several of the Eagles Juniors took the loss very hard as they were crushed that their Senior teammates lost their chance to get in the playoffs. However, if Independence plays with this same heart next week vs. Columbia, they will finish the season 7-3 which is still outstanding especially for a 2nd year Varsity program. The future looks very bright at Independence though. Most of their starters are Sophs. or Juniors and their Freshman team only lost once the entire season. If they work hard in the off-season, Region 6-5A better look out next yearand beyond. Good luck guys next week. Play like Champions and send the Seniors out with a Victory!
  24. Zoos, how can you talk about any team being over-rated while your Cougars have not won a ball-game in over a year? Until Centennial actually wins a game, I suggest that you mind your own business. As I recall, IHS 42 CHS 6
  25. BD, You really need to seek professional help! Speaking for all of us (even those who don't even have a dog in the hunt), we are just sick and tired of reading your pointless drivel! Stay on the 3-A board and let your hatred for Coach Smith go!
